  • Universal was established fully in 1915, but was originated in 1912.

  • it is now 100 years old. im curious to see how the new theme looks like

  • How come it says 75 when Universal Pictures was established in 1912?

  • @moviencartoons2 the 75th was for the founding of the city of Univeral CIty california and the studios.

  • I don't get it.

  • The first time I've seen this logo at a theater was with "Jetsons The Movie" on opening weekend. It was amazing. I first saw the 1960's-1980's globe with Land Before Time and trailers for "The Wizard" and "Twins" as well as on TV. The first time i saw the logo sans anniversary was american tail 2. What was the last movie to feature the Universal early 90's logo before Lost World came out? I think it was Dante's Peak.

  • I'm stuck juxtaposing this with Child's Play 2 and 3.

  • @sprinter82 childs play 2 had this logo, childs play 3 didn't

  • For this one, it has been missed the 1946 (Universal International one). I hope next year Universal could introduce the 100th anniversary logo with the same logo but with 1946 logo added before the 1963 logo and half of the Universal Pictures 1990 logo after the 1963 logo and then the current after the 1990 logo with "100th anniversary" written on it.

  • Universal Pictures started in 1912, not 1915.

  • @ELIZAERECT universal did start 1912, but they didn't make there first movie until 1915.

  • 0:11 Saw that on Actual TV About a Week Ago.

  • YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS

  • que recuerdos lindos me trae esto

  • Back from the future is this logo!

  • @bogercs GREAT SCOTT.

  • I live the 0:07 logo

  • @bat115--

They did include it; however, Universal Studios only showed it with the MCA byline that they used from 1973 until 1990 when they unveiled their 75th Anniversary logo.

  • I always wondered why they didn't include the 60s logo in this?

  • Back to the future 3

  • William - at 0:28 you will hear the raised Lydian 4th I spoke of in our lesson.

    Daniel Léo Simpson

    Composer

    San Francisco

  • and child's play 2's opening as well

  • @rlsone100

Imagine what everyone must've thought when they came into the movie thinking it'll be a normal opening with Andy living a normal life only to find themselves (after the logo played out) in a company where Chucky's being repaired with dramatic music playing.

  • problem child opening

  • @eduardo231991 Also appeared on Back To The Future III

  • I hear this melody and my memories come back to the beginnig of the 90's, when a I was 4-5 years old. I miss all this.

  • Jetsons the movie.

  • child play II

  • Just awe inspiring! I hope they bring it back!

  • I think this intro was better than the new one

  • i love back to the future III

  • 11 more months till Universal Studios 100th anniversary!! hell yeah

  • they should use this 4 Walt Disney Pictures 90th anniversary

  • JETSONS: THE MOVIE

  • I Love this Logo what a Classic this logo always reminds me of child's play 2 and it was also the opening for The Hard Way starring Michael J Fox and James Woods I miss this Logo so much they don't make great Logo's like this anymore this is my favorite and truly one of the best from the 90's

  • such a magestic opening theme! thank you, james horner!!

  • Disney's is still the best one of all!

  • childs play !

  • Love love love this intro. 1st Universal intro i ever saw as a kid on my fav movies like BTTF Part 3, this is by far my fav. Brings back good feelings. Had this in my head most of the time i was in Universal Studios for the 1st time a few days ago!!!

  • best studio logo ever

  • i first saw this logo before Jetsons the Movie in the theaters. It was awesome. Probably the best CGI logo that Universal made...much better than the one used since 1997. It's also the longest movie intro ever.

  • childs play part 2

  • Comment removed

  • I like the last logo in this video better than the newer ones.

  • Univirsal is Turning 100 Next Year in June.

  • 9 People didn't know what a DeLorean was.

  • :D omg i love this intro now ♥

  • seeing this in the theaters was so awesome..

  • Epic!

  • Cant even believe it's 95 now!!!

  • CHILDS PLAY PART 2

  • @savethedanceforlast That's when I first saw the logo, when my dad and I went to see Chucky. I think the audience was more entertained by the Universal logo than the movie.

  • Oh, and Paramount, can't forget them.

  • It was better when MGM and Universal were the only big companies in movie making :< Epic Movies abound.

  • Damn it lasted like 10 seconds and i had goosebumps.

  • I remember seeing this with movies like "Beethoven" and "King Ralph", back in the day. Then I found this with "Back to the Future Part III" and I think "Child's Play 3".

  • who scored the 1990 anniversary theme ..was it James Horner or Jerry Goldsmith?

  • @furryfriend43 i believe it was james horner.

  • Can't wait to see the 100th anniversary one.

  • Back to the Future part III

  • @cooldude8437 May favourite movie studio :D

  • @cooldude8437 LOL. YES!

  • Anybody know if there is a widescreen version.

  • The best opening ever. Nostalgic , historical and deep. Brings back memories of watching "Back to the future" :)

  • 1990 version is the best intro I ever remembered and I was born in 1991, year after 75th anniversary of Universal

  • There's one logo missing after the 40's logo before the 60's-90's logo of the zoming globe...

  • Epic!!

  • BRING IT BACK FOR THE 100th!!!

  • @crayzmarc I think it is kind of ironic that the 100th anniversary is 2015!

  • @volgirl2477 why ironic?

  • @volgirl2477 Because 2015 is the year they went to in Back to the Future II and this is the first time they used this 75th anniversary logo was in Back to the Future III. I just thought it would be kind of ironic if they chose to do a similar thing for the 100th anniversary and that is in 2015. That is all.

  • @volgirl2477 For 2015, they should remake the kids one with the airplane but with the Delorean whizzing past flying for the main logo.

  • @crayzmarc This, remade in CGI and available in HD and 3D, and re-orchastrated too!

  • @theGMANtheBOSS No lets go old skool and do live action or some kind of model, Roland Emmerich could direct it! LOL :-D. CGI still has its flaws then again is this animation. Caught the 125th Anniversary logo for Paramount Pictures at the start of MI4 still had nothing on this.

  • @crayzmarc That would be cool, although there are some things in CGI animation you can't do without it looking off in live action.

And the new Paramount logo is celebrating Paramount's 100th anniversary, not it's 125th.

  • @theGMANtheBOSS Oh thanks for the heads up. I literally had just got my popcorn and didn't have enough time to find my seat and watch all the new logo.

  • Instead Of "An MCA Company", Underneath The "Universal Globe" Said "A Division Of NBC Universal".

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. Its like a retro trek.

I grew up with the logo at 0:15 so of course its my favorite.

And in my oppinion the new digital logo they use since 1997 can´t compare with the previews ones.

  • The new logo SUCKS.

  • THE BEST Universal logo ever. I saw it for the first time at the beginning of the remake of the movie "A Kiss Before Dying"...movie sucked, so I watched this over and over instead.

  • i miss the 90s.. i remember sitting in movies seeing childs play 2

  • I remember seeing this the first time I saw Problem Child. For their 100th Anniversary, Universal should have a logo that incorporates all of their logos going back to the first biplane one. Maybe they could bring back the "A Universal Picture" zooming globe logo from the 60s with the biplane from their first logo and the music from this one. Just a thought.

  • I like this... but does anyone remember the logo with all the mixed films from Universal Studios...? It had a jazzy beat to it... I can't find it anywhere! Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

  • 2015: centenary

  • that logo I mention with the world globe and words universal international, has also been used on quite a few universal international films when it was called universal international

  • I remember first seeing this new logo in the theaters for Back to the Future Part III

  • On the movie "Darkman" aswell.

    i'm loving it...!!!

  • what was the last movie to show this?

  • I always loved that bumper.

  • Was the high-pitched variant of the Universal Pictures 75th Anniversary logo shown on the Nick@Nite and VH1 airings of Back to the Future Part III?

  • 2015 - The year featured in BttF 2, will be the Studio's 100th anniversary. I think they planned that. Doc Brown even changes his choice of years to travel to the future from 25 (85-2010) to 30 (85-15) at one point. . . If they remember they may do something. Good nostalgic marketing. Also, 4?

  • The best number 1 Universal logo on every year ever! Keep it up!!!

  • This music makes me feel so happy and warm inside.

  • I saw tis on "Jetsons: The Movie". I wish that movie aired on cable again.

  • This is my Favourite version, sends chills down my spine

  • memories from my childhood

  • I understand that logos need to be updated. But why take away a theme that works? This is the theme i think of when i think of Universal, not the new one.

When the company celebrates their 100th anniversary, i'd love it if they brought this theme back.

  • is this in any horrors?

  • @adshield Child's Play 2

  • @chrisvscrispychicken ive never seen it.

  • They left out the intros which were used prior to 1928 among others.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder what new logo Universal will have in 2012 for the 100th Aniversary

  • universal 75th anniversy i have problem child child'a play 2 and kindgradon cop oh and back to the future 3 all have it

  • universal 75th anniversy i have problem child child'a play 2 and kindgradon cop all have the 75 anniversy on it

  • this is my favorite of the universal logo's

  • Planes orbit the earth? :O

  • @Echofromsomewere1 Hell, in the 1930's....outer space??? What's that?

  • @Echofromsomewere1 Wouldn't you be more freaked if you saw giant U N I V E R S A L in the sky...

  • universal should bring this theme back for the 100th anniversary and it would make more sense.

  • this reminds me problem child 2

  • Sometimes Universal Studios Made Up Logos As It Did Before.

Universal Cartoon Studios Has Got Alvin And The Chimpmonks 3 films, and "The Land Before Time" Films have got The Vikings Adventure With Cartoon.

Sorry No Dinosaurs because they Died.

  • also in universal pictures 75th anniversary was "Jetsons:the movie" in 1990.

    very clever huh!

  • best movie intro of all time. this is better than the ones we have now.

  • Godly.

  • love this music prob my favourite, second would be castlerock's intro

  • The first movie I saw this on was Back to the Future III, I have this on my DVD copy of Kindergarten Cop and I've seen it on The Jetsons Movie as well.

  • this is James Horner, right?

  • this reminds me everytime of the Child's play 2 DVD.

  • JAmes Horner did the music.

  • I first saw this in the terrible Jetsons Movie from 94 (?).

When I saw the little black and white plane one in BTTF Part 3, I first assumed it was because of the western theme.

  • @septentrionale - The Jetsons Movie was from 1990.

  • I've seen this in Child's Play 2.

  • This is the best Universal intro in my opinion

  • Heh, I actually remember this intro from Back to the Future III. I liked the first logo best :) As it happens, they skipped one of them, the one used in the '50s.

  • I really love the music

  • When Universal turns 100 in 2015, they'll probably do something like this.

  • I watch this, and it just makes me cry. It's like...seeing something that has been with you all your life....seeing it presented to you throughout the history that you've been here, loving it, and then seeing that flash when "75th Anniversary" comes up...my God...I can't even describe it.

  • @nikonlover1 I feel exactly the same way you do. This shit defined my childhood.

  • @ErikPaulsonFan -- I had a few drinks before I watched it, but it's still great.

  • i like universals 75th anniversary and i thnnk it looks good

  • 1915-1990

    wow that's a long time

i never expected Universal Pictures to last that long

  • @cruisn4evur No. Universal started in 1930.

  • @Nodog438 Actually, Universal was founded in 1912 as the Universal Film Manufacturing Company

  • Comment removed

  • @Nodog438 I meant it started in 1912.

  • wow

  • This was the best one. Why the hell did they change it?!

  • If you visit Universal Studios in North Hollywood (off the 101 freeway), they have statues of these

logos on the park premises. It is quite an amazing place.

  • 5 more years until 100th anniversary

  • Joining us in our forum!!!

  • "Wonderland" song by band Pullman Standard---- "Wonderland" is missing from the Alice movie. "Wonderland" is on the trailer on YouTube. What happened??.

  • 5 years' time? 2015! Great Scott!

  • Y'know, in 5 years it'll be their 100th Anniversery. I hope they do something like this for that occasion.

  • It doesn't include Universal International globe and logo!

  • @AnthonyUK you mean, the one from woody woodpecker?

  • @razgar02 No the old Globe with the words Universal International on top of it

  • @AnthonyUK that one IS from woody woodpecker

  • They should bring this back since its the 95th aniversary. this was and still is the best logo opening ever, also bring back memories

  • @brandonesters right and have the same music.

  • I agree. I like this 1990 animation better than the new one (1998-now)

  • @brandonesters Amen, brother.

  • @brandonesters It is very nostalgic...back in the days of VHS.

  • @brandonesters It is? The 95th, already? I'm old? :(

  • @brandonesters They probably will in 2015.

  • This reminds of The Jetsons Movie

  • from jetsons the movie

  • James Horner is the best!! I loved the soundtrack of "Avatar" and "A Beautiful Mind"!! Truly amazing!!!

  • I agree with most of the comments. Best one ever. Bring it back or get Horner in to do a new version.

  • My favourite logo

  • That whimsical style score which is also what Williams does, is influenced by stravinsky quite a lot, you here it in his ballets.

  • Believe it or not, James Horner wrote this little song!

  • Is there anything he didn't write?

  • classic

  • this one is much better than the one they have right now. sometimes you see things that are difficult to explain cause i think most of the people agree this one is better... then why did they change?

  • I like the bass at 0:29

  • The problem with this logo is that Earth doesn't have any clouds.

  • @HectorJW2007 It's artistic liscence.

  • I remember first seeing this logo at the beginning of Child's Play 2. I used to rewind the tape over and over just to hear that music.

  • @tonyfinn1 Love it. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

  • @tonyfinn1 I knew it was something to do with the world Child it may have also of been on the Problem Child Part 2 intro too?

  • The first "Problem Child" had this logo too. Problem Child 2 just had the last bit.

  • wooow

  • My favorite part is at the end when the horns come in and just play a three note motif. For some reason, I always thought it sounded "space-y" which went well with the "Universal" and "Earth in space" themes.

  • Simply... amazing!!

  • Why did they have to change this to the shitty one that we see today its like everything has gone to crap.

  • Thank you so very much for posting this.

This theme and even the graphic bring back memories of such good times in my life; being a kid and discovering film after film, with such awe and wonder.

I still love movies to this day, but there's just something special about that era to me, and I don't think anything will ever match it.

This theme is a reminder of those times for me, and I'm very proud of that, and thankful to you for putting this here.

  • Dude, if the 75th anniversary was in 1990, the 100th would be in 2015
