The film is good. One point on the background music...the very first music at the beginning of this clip. Its called satya sai suprabhatam. It has special meaning and significance to those who are satya sai baba devotees. Its in sanskrit. How this is relevant to the film, i dont know. Its quite offensive that a religious chanting is used purely as music. Obviously the pple who made this movie were quite ignorant abt the chanting. Nothing against the movie though.

I remember seeing this movie and being haunted by it. In all its tragic storyline, there was a certain beauty about it.

Does anyone remember why the woman in the orange burka (1:08) was carried away? I tried to watch the movie again but I just couldn't find it.

She is one of the all-female bridal party going to a wedding in Kandahar. When they get to the Taliban check-point just before Kandahar they are searched, and the Taliban officials find instruments and a book concealed under some of the womens burkas. This is also how Nasa (and the Afghan man who has helped her) come to be arrested. It really is a haunting movie, actually based on the real-life story of Nelofer Pazira which gives it some added depth.

it's more than a great fillm, it's life itself in this oppressed world full of sad histories like this one. It really makes a good job of transmitting to us the REAL reality from her own life. Like Mahabharata says at the beginning: Once you know it you won't be the same person. Obviously it makes us a better people having a little more empathy when we know what happens outside our blind minds. We must wake up!!
