  • i was quite lucky enought to go see this in a london theatres it was amazing.

  • I'm playing Sister Berthe in a local production, and though it's a small part, it's a fun one, and this serves as a great help in envisioning the play. Nice job, guys! :)

  • Where was that?

  • I agree This maria actress is wonderful!!!

  • @mlemour i third that :)

  • this Maria is excellent

  • Such a good production!

  • Does anyone have the whole movie of the sound of music that I can watch on Youtube

  • Mike, Thank you for posting this play, I have been looking for a broadway version to watch(wish they had filmed original with Mary Martin). I listened to cast record and tried to imagine what the scenes were like. Everyone did a tremendous job, especially if this was a community theatre production. Applause to them all!

  • You're most welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, its community theater.

  • This is great! I'm always amazed that Community Theatres can pull off a production like this. The props, the costumes, the singing--a lot of work went into it. Great job! Thanks for posting it.

  • You're welcome - thanks for the compliments.

  • the acting is rather drab. Beautiful voices, amateur acting

  • Yeah - it's community theater and most actors in this play have very little experience. Given that, I think they did a really good job.

  • @brittadominguez3 Oy, someone certainly is defensive =( The music was lovely, I commended them there.

It is my opinion that their acting leaves much to be desired. I understand day-time obligations; the theatre group I am a part of is the same way in lack of time and funding, except we only have a few highschool students helping, not an entire community.

So please do not attack my critism; I have every right to say I enjoyed the show or I did not enjoy the show. It's called being an audience.

  • i wish is the real movie..but nice one tho

  • Mike-- actually there is nothing wrong with not using accents if all the characters are the same nationality. They just use accents as a theatrical tool to differentiate between nationalitys as they all speak the same language. They do use different dialects to differentiate class distinctions. Maria sings in an Oxford Ford English dialect this is usually reserved for the aristocracy which Maria wasn't. It's not that big a thing all things considered. Lots of professonals do it also.

  • milliee---------I stand corrected. Thanks for the information.

  • Just noticed that when maria confesses that she sang and Mother Superior says that the rule about not singing applies only to within the Abby. Well all the Nuns including Mother Superior are always singing in the Abby though out the show. You would think the script writers would have caught that and and changed it to only inappropriaite times.

  • there is a rule for postulants singing.. not nuns. A postulant is one who hasn't taken the vow yet. Postulants can't sing within the walls, nuns can.

  • Actually, the Nuns are singing in the courtyard in the show and in the movie which is technically not "In the abby"

  • why are the servants in Austria Americans?

  • They are all Austrian. The play was done in an American Community theater. They didn't focus on accent for this particular play. Not sure why but my guess is because it was a big production with several children and several first time actors\actresses.

  • this is a really good play one of the best ive seen!

  • cant anyone gt the real movie and not plays

  • @cinderooo Fun Fact, the movie is based on this play.

This is closer to the "Real" Thing than the movie.

So how about rewording it to say "Can't anyone get the Movie and not the play version?"

  • I love the song "My favorite things"

    really a great song

  • @donfrollo2

    I love Edelweiss

  • This was very good. When I saw this at an outdoor ampitheatre about sixteen years ago, the actress playing Maria actually wore a cowbell for the Abbey scenes.
