Holy crap this anime suffered bad plot. It had the mentality a kid's show but included too many adult themes to work as one.

I don't like musical animes (Mermaid Melody was okay but I skipped the "battle" scenes), but Parappa could have been innovative by inducing RAP musical battles that corresponded to the gameplay, with occasional "free-rapping" that the series is known for.

Conclusion: They ruined almost everything short of the introduction.

Even if the anime wasnt all that popular, no one can deny this is an incredibly good opening sequence both visually and to listen to. Smooth animation, great visual effects, wonderful video and audio editing, and I just love that opening part with the paper puppets. I thought that was really cool looking as well as clever. I would love to see a whole Parappa animation done like that. It's very reminiscent of the games. Wonderful work they did. You Gotta Believe!!

There BIGGEST mistake was adding crappy characters like Matt, Paula, and Pinto. And taking out Lammy and Ma-san. I mean, seriously, wtf? Lammy was awesome, (also LammyxParappa <3) But the music in this show was good.
