  • Finding that notch to stick the hook into for lowering the spare in the dark is a pain. I like to put my jack a little more near the tire on the more flat spot of the axle. Also if you haven't had your tires rotated every 12,000 miles they will be stuck on pretty good. After you loosen the lug nuts set on your butt and kick the tire on left side then right side repeat till tire comes loose from the truck. Try to hit only the rubber part so not to damage your rim.

  • @inhoosierboy the notch for the hook to lower the spare, is 1/2 of why I made this video. I jammed that thing in the hole above the license plate for too long. Once it is a pain the ass for me, I KNOW that others have the same issue. That is how many booya videos are born !

  • Thanks for this video. Very informative and saved me a lot of trouble. Again Thanks.

  • @CopperRed3 My Pleasure. Trust me, this video is EDITED. It took me a while to figure it out, and I could find no other good resources. Therefore, I made one myself to share with the world :) This vid is very accurate as to how to get this done. BTW, I highly recommend you join the TacomaWorld forums. There are people there a lot smarter than I am. There is a LOT of great content. I installed an entire audio system ( amp, head unit, wiring, sub ) based off info I got there.a great forum

  • @BooyaGadget I am on the TacomaWorld forum. Yes they are great. I have done several mods using the info I found there. Thanks again.

  • Thank you!!!!

  • @bondservantjon1 Booya !

  • Is the '95 tacoma 4x4 rear wheels come off the same way as shown in this video? I couldn't remove mine off the rear drums after unbolted the lug nuts. This is my first tacoma pick up truck I ever own. I need to replace the rear drums, its getting bad. If anyone know the secret plz reply back. Thx.

  • @s1prark hey, I'm wondering if your wheels are just a little "sticky" from standard dirt/grime ? Just covering my knee jerk reaction here by thinking maybe after releasing the lugs, maybe you just give the damn tire a KICK.. I'm a tech-nerd not a mechanic, but i've never seen a wheel that doesn't release after removing lugs. kick that tire and see if it just needs a nudge to get off. Booya

  • @s1prark also... if that still doesn't work, I recommend you visit the TacomaWorldForum which is where I learned a ton from savvy members there! I guarantee someone in that forum has a 95 tacoma that could verify the wheel removal process on your 95 taco.

  • Man this right here was a life saver .... I had no clue on how to get the spare tire down this helped me out a lot I appreciative it

  • @TribLoco Booya !

  • Awesome video, very helpful!

    Thanks a lot

  • @xImmortalTechnique thanks immortal

  • Glad I have found this video as I own a 2010 Tacoma 4x4. Funny thing is that i don't seem to have a jack. I've looked in the manual and it shows that if I had a flat, let's say same one as you did, I put something underneath the front passanger tire. Not sure why.

  • @mart775 That's weird, and doesn't seem to make sense... the manual says to jack the front up to replace a rear tire ? is your jack not simply under the back seat behind the passenger inside the cab ?

  • Cool video bro, nice truck.. I have a Chevy Colorado and I keep saying i'm gonna put on the spare as practice just in case, now I'll do it for sure.

  • @SamosIMP thx ! I would recommend just grabbing the manual at least. It's worth an hour of your time now, because like I mentioned, we all get flat tires. I was very glad to go through this, and very happy to shoot the video, it has helped a lot of people. Way better to learn in your safe driveway for the first time than in blazing hot sun, or freezing cold. after you master it, you could write a quick how to for your Chevy Colorado forum ! thx for watching and the feedback. Booya !

  • You're a godsend Ice-T

  • @anotheruser414 lol, normally I get method man.

  • @BooyaGadget yes method man indeed

  • BOOYA!!

  • @FantasticBob7000 Yes indeed. BOOYA!

  • @BooyaGadget Hey thanks for the vid dude my Tacoma had a flat this morning & this helped. BTW sometimes you gotta take a hammer to the inside of the tire rim to whack loose the tire & pull it off. Also might wanna show ppl where the jack is stowed inside the truck, I wasted time looking for mine.

    Peace

    youtube dot calm watch?v=QiKh9Ko3mw4

  • @FantasticBob7000 yeah, i can't remake this, so if you're reading future readers. it's under the back seat, although i show a pic. Nice ron paul plug, I only made it through about 30 seconds, but i like the plug ! Later Bob thanks for the watch, comments, and yes, I am totally happy I made this video, I get a lot of messages with thanks. worth my time ! i struggled.

  • The hook was important in releasing the spare in my 2008 Tacoma , otherwise your video was quite helpful. Thank You !

  • @denniseddy1950 thanks for the feedback. Very good to know about the 2k8 Taco "needing" the hook to release the spare. in the 2k6 taco ( as you saw ) the hook was a non-factor outside of raising/dropping the Jack.

I'm glad I made this video, it was a beotch, but fun to make and the feedback has been fun to read.

    BOOYA!

  • @denniseddy1950 Also, since you obviously have a toyota tacoma, I recommend you swing by Booya Gadget dot Calm and check out our "Vehicle Gadgetry" section. It's where I have articles, videos etc about many projects i've done with my Taco. ( i go into detail ). Also helpful may be Booya Flickr account and check out our sets there where I have 100's of pictures of projects..

    BOOYA Again !

  • HAHAHA! At 4:29- throws tire down, throws middle finger up. lol.

And that tire ain't toast. Cut on the bottom, patch the problem. Cut on the side, never will ride.

Thanks for the information, buddy. But I hope you patched that tire instead of getting rid of it. Those treads looked new.

  • @VikingHunter82 very nice catch. That was the moment when "the hard part was done".

I definitely did not patch the tire, just turned her in. Yup, they were less than 12 months old. It's ok, I had the ol les schwab / discount tire insurance... I'm more technical than mechanical by far :)

  • ha! I knew it!. Tried to change some lady's tire tonight. Struggled with getting the damn spare tire down for over an hour before giving up and calling AAA. BUT the piece that you show in this video to insert the tool into was rusted off and broken on her vehicle. My masculinity is preserved, thanks!

  • @ckbyd69 LOL. The man council agrees. That is a critical piece to the entire process ! You're clear, and Man Council will give you +1 man points for kindly trying for an hour. Yikes, rusted off.... What year truck was it ?

  • @BooyaGadget 06, but she said it hadn't been driven in a long time (as far as i can tell that means its been in the back yard). At one point I actually got it to move about 1/4 of an inch by getting under the truck with a wrench, but I couldn't figure out a way to lie so that my body wouldn't block the tire. All that in 20 degree weather, with snow and wind... I laughed when I saw your nice yard and sun. Thank the Man Council for me.

  • not bad,was the camera worth the money and where did you purchase it?

  • @curtismichael14 Hey C.M. Oh yes, this camera took Booya Gadget to another level. It is actually a mid-level cam, but for youtube and Booya it's perfect.

Also, i checked out your channel, very cool. I like your style out there in maine. I see you get down with Indy Mogul... Booya (Cuz) has spent a LOT of time at indy Mogul. I learned a lot about special effects and green screen there.. my old personal page is acbarakas, you will see green screen there.

  • @curtismichael14 sorry... forgot to answer your 2nd question. I hate ordering stuff, so I got this from my Local Fry's, in Renton, WA. Once again, I must tell you, I love this camcorder..... Pumps out HD video, and gives me amazing HD photos as well. It has made my old "Camera" obsolete. Suppose I should sell it or donate to a sweet Organization.. Thanks for watching Curtis, check out our blog man, it is blowing up, we can talk more video there. It's all custom. booya gadget dot com

  • This is extremely informative...My Dad taught me how to change a tire..I am working on my muscles for the unlocking the bolts part..:)

Very thorough video and well taught..Thanks!

  • @sweetface425 thx sweetface.... Flat tires happen to everyone and typically at the worst times. It's great your dad taught you how do to it. Most of the work is robotic, but finding the Jack point, and knowing where and how to release the spare tire are key things to know.. After that, a flat is a flat :) thanks for watching.

  • Took me about an hour and your walkthrough was the reason it was no more time than that. I jacked mine up on the thickest part of the leafspring. That was what i suspect was the iffiest thing I did. Worked,

  • @plazpastic thx Plaz ! I am jealous that you got this done in an hour.... It was mid summer in the Pacific Northwest, and after I was done, I felt like I had just gotten back from the gym...

  • Hey, You make a great contribution here.

  • I am a single 38yr old female. woke up on labor day w/ a flat and lots of plans for the day. was going to go get a couple cans of fix a flat, and instead ran into your video. I lost my owners manual so that was out. I would have never been able to do this w/o you. this was my first time to change a tire ever. Yikes. I still took me about 1 1/2 hrs w/ my cheerleading, lug nut holding, 60yr old mother intently watching. we were up and rolling thanks to you! mom says thanks to the nice youtube boy

  • @SuperBackpack12 I love it :) You're welcome and thanks for the feedback. It was tricky, and I had just purchased my new HD camcorder so I made the video for this very reason !

  • thanks man... I was cussing up a storm in the driveway... all fixed now!

  • @dcquin31 that's sweet man. Thanks for the feedback. I got a little frustrated too, of course, the edited video doesn't show that :) All makes sense once you've done it which i'm sure you'll agree on !

  • Yes. Thank you for making this video!

While people are practicing, this would be a good time to check the air pressure in the spare.

  • @BumbleSS1 Thanks Bumble. I think this vid could help some people over time. I checked out your channel. Uhh, no way my ass is getting in that tree with a chainsaw !

  • thank you for taking the time to make this! (Nice house too)

  • @neontrail NP... I enjoy making vids, and I wanted to help others in the future with a detailed walkthrough. . Maybe i'll save a life :) thanks for the feedback. Booya !
