This is what the MRS (MR2) should have been.. But well i guess its technically the ONLY Toyota left that is a sports car.. the Motor 2zzge i hope they beefed it up.. If not yeah a decent motor, their are issues with the Rods in the 2zz's.. Not a cheap fix.. Love this car though.. just wish i lived in an area it would make sense to have one..

As others have said, cheaper to buy second hand. You have to remember however that because Lotus don't sell a lot of cars in comparison to other manufacturers, they have to charge higher prices than they otherwise would. Also, you're getting British prices, which are always excessive!

I would say that's a lot.

Why? Because aside from a great chassis and suspension you don't get much in this car. Engine is from Toyota and the interior, well for the most part there isn't any.

I'd rather put 60k as a down payment for a GT-R or a Porsche Carrera S. I'd even go as far as saying I'd rather get an M3 over this.

That's fine, but the GT-R, Porsche, and M3 are different tastes than the Exige. Exige is a pure handling car, MEANT to be minimalist. Not so with the others.

And also lotus only makes 3000 cars a year, which is less than ferrari. So you end up with an fast, economic, awesome looking, almost environment friendly, exclusive car

I actually have several views on your comment that go back and forth.

You can't argue Toyota is reliable as their recall numbers have been off the charts this year. But then, none of them were due to the powertrain which is known to be pretty durable and reliable. And of course we know, only the engines are used by Lotus but again (third viewpoint) I've heard Lotus has pretty terrible reliability.

At this point, it's hard to say what I think about this...

@c0nv1ct1337 if you're talking about the sticking gas pedal scare, that was just cuz of the electronic pedal design that they're using nowadays. thats all and they of course didnt put that in the lotus. the only real problem with the lotus beforehand was the engine (taken care of) and the lack of luxury (it's a tiny car, whaddaya expect). thats all that it really was.

In this case, since i live in NY, we have potholes, destroyed pavement, ripped up roads and other unfriendly driving conditions...the last thing i want to happen is hit a pothole and destroy the whole suspension which could happen on these cars...maybe good as a second car?

Excellent car, can be done as a daily driver but you have to have determination. All too often I have walked in to Lotus dealers and seen Exige's and Elise's with 6K miles and 3 owners because people didn't know what they were getting into...
