Really? They deserve to be shot? "I'll take graffiti any day over war". The protesters were peaceful. Why not report on the violence of police, who pushed, attacked, and drove motorcycles into protesters? It cost way more money to have police there to hit protesters than it cost to clean graffiti, of which there is graffiti dating back over 60 years from what I saw on the steps.
Unfortunately that reasoning is exactly part of this nations problem. By your reasoning, if I am against the war, I should deface public property. The voice of sanity would say that you can protest and still be respectful, protests are better served if fools don't take the attention off the real issue by defacing property, sanity says don't waste more of my tax dollars with pointless vandalism. What positive purpose did this vandalism serve the protest? Answer that question!

Bodozier, you got a big mouth and nothing of wisdom comes out of it.How would you like your property to be vandalized?Maybe when the war ends,we will spray paint all over your house (if you have one)THE WAR IS OVER!Think before you speak or act.
last comment of 6!>> I do not agree with their protesting, but it is their right the same as it is my right to protest abortions. But nobody has the right to do any kind of vandalism to any structure for any reason. That should be the issue, respectfully. And to not agree is being foolish, and trying to make a statement by being radical. I also think each group should be afforded the same rights and allowances. Let Freedom Ring!
Amonogian, Comment 6 of 6 is spot on. Excellent summary! I vote, I've protested, I've served, I sign petitions, I write letters, I educate myself on the issues, I make up my own mind and I respect differing ideas; BUT I do not deface others or property. Defending the wrong actions of others or ourselves only moves the issues in the wrong direction. Its ok to admit a wrong, it really is. The protest was right by its nature, the vandalism was wrong by any standard
5th comment out of 5 .. ooops 6>> Whatever story was told with this video actually makes no matter. Some say it is bogus, some applaud it. The only facts we know are: There was a protest against the war and there was vandalism of some sort.
4th comment out of 5>>This country is founded on specific principles, not on someone's right to protest. I said not founded on, not that they don't have a right to do so. But do not condemn those that disagree with you, which is their right.
This country is founded on specific principles, not on someone's right to protest. I said not founded on, not that they don't have a right to do so. But do not condemn those that disagree with you, which is their right.
No one wants to die, and no one wants their family to die, but I thank God for the thousands and thousands of men and women that choose to serve and protect. Or we will have the wars here, and they most assuredly would be here if we did not keep them on foreign lands. I think until any of you posters can look a serviceman in the eyes and tell him he shouldnt love his country enough to fight for her, and even die for her, then take your anti-American values and go somewhere else.
I would like to know how many of you, or how many of the protestors have served our country wihtout the draft? I understood during previous wars and even peace time when there were those that opposed the wars and even serving. But I do not understand how there can be protestors now when all of our men in the service are there because they chose to be. They went in to serve their country.
and this... Morse continued, "The size and continual movement of the crowd provided concealment and made detection of their actions impossible. Once the crowd dispersed, I was appalled and disgusted that any individual, whatever their cause, would deface the grounds of the Capitol."
This is an interesting turn of events... "In a move intended to "set the record straight," U.S. Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse yesterday said police officers never were given orders to refrain from arresting anti-war protesters who vandalized a Capitol terrace over the weekend. Morse's statement contradicts witnesses' accounts, confirmed yesterday, that commanders were at the scene and police were told not to make any arrests."
I was there and it was an anarchist group, Students for a Democratic Society (it's no longer socialist.) But the graffiti shown was actually done with chalk, like much of the "vandalism" was. In fact, I saw the police politely ask the offenders to stop and threatened arrest but the protesters obliged.
van•dal•ism --noun 1) deliberately mischievous or malicious destruction or damage of property: vandalism of public buildings 2) the conduct or spirit characteristic of the Vandals. 3) willful or ignorant destruction of artistic or literary treasures. 4) a vandalic act. Was this YOUR property? Did you have permission to "color" on the Capitol? If the answers are no, then you are a vandal and this was vandalism. Simple, easy and the truth.
why blow smoke to defend a WRONG action? The ONLY thing the actions of these cowards accomplished was detracting from the value of the protest. This video was not about the protest, we are discussing the pathetic, sad, wrong actions of a group that defaced the Capitol. Protesting may be the right thing to do, but why not do it in the right way? Why demean the actions of these protesters with pointless vandalism? They made the argument for their own critics.
I read these comments and I am amazed and disheartened that so many people lose the trees through the forest. THIS story is about fools who defaced MY / OUR Capitol. Those action are wrong and this is not debatable, it is a matter of FACT! There is no justification for their actions. They had zero impact on the demonstration. In fact, now their actions are detracting from the value of the protest. They are cowards and they are wrong!
You push past a line of cops who are all armed with lethal weapons and you can throw around the word coward, until then, keep your highschool propaganda in your mouth. Also, this report is false, this was not an anarchist group, it was a group made up of anarchists, leftists, and even some democrats(my friend was one of these present).
Pushing past a line of police, knowing that they cannot do much of anything to you, to break the law deface the Capitol is being a coward. In this situation, brave people find a way of being impactful without resorting to "high school" vandalism. BTW, what's the difference between a group of anarchists and "a group made up of anarchists"? There is NO defense for this groups actions. PERIOD!
You are correct, there was a very diverse mix, it's just the Black Bloc tends to stand out with their attire and Flags.
I was there start to finish when the rush occurred and start to finish there was no violence and it was quite energizing. Just by being there we did provide cover for those doing the writing. I'll take graffiti anyday over war.
Why take graffiti over war? Who said the two are related? Why graffiti at all? What positive purpose did it serve? It did two things ONLY, spraying graffiti on the Capitol only detracted from the group's credibility and message, and it defaced a great symbol of our country; and that is sad as the message was a noble one.
By the way, I have the respect and decency not to push through police lines and not deface public property. I am brave enough to say that type of behavior is counter productive to any cause. I do not need that type sensationalism and destruction to have a positive impact and make a difference.
I read these comments and I am amazed and disheartened that so many people lose the trees through the forest. THIS story is about fools who defaced MY / OUR Capitol. What? I was waiting for violence, people againts damn cops! so they were allowed to paint and then what? a Cleaning and Janitorial Comitee passed by and did they work????
WTF? Extremist whats? Extremist anarchists are the group you aren't happy with. I don't know what you were trying to compare them with? Did you hear someone on FOX news talk about the evil extremists and assume it was a militant group located somewhere in the middle east?
Do you have a problem with anarchist extremists? Extremists aren't a group that you can compare some other group to. Did you hear someone on FOXnews throw out the word extremists and assume it was a militant group in the middle east?
"...protesters descended on our nation's capitol..police permitted..paint anarchist symbols..by a splinter group of anarchist (how convenient they were so quickly identified)..no arrests were made. Oh something definitely smells.
Oh I think we are ALL pretty sure Bush has heard the message. But being the "decider", he doesn't care!! He has said so. The man lied during the State of the Union address and isn't going to care about sprayed graffitti. My concern is that it will be used as an excuse to curtail future demonstrations?
The $204.4 billion appropriated thus far for the war in Iraq could have purchased any of the following desperately needed services in our country: 46,458,805 uninsured people receiving health care or 3,545,016 elementary school teachers or 27,093,473 Head Start places for children or 1,841,833 affordable housing units or 24,072 new elementary schools or 39,665,748 scholarships for university students or 3,204,265 port container inspectors.
What a great idea!!! Let's taser every public official that slacked off on their job that day. She said "the police permitted" - what's next they're going to start handing out Sharpies at the Tomb of the Unknown? Or is this where we're supposed to start shouting down demonstrators? Defacing property is not peaceful assembly, so...
I am just glad that people are standing up to Bush I don't care how they do it! Signs, spray paint, news it really does not matter to me as long as he see the message!
So by your words, the fact that you (several days later) can barely see the paint, makes it ok to deface our Capitol? And it is ok for my tax dollar to be spent cleaning up this paint? Again, by your words, if Josh Sparling (a US Military Vet) is paid by Fox, it is ok to spit on him? How does that make any sense at all? Where is your line between right and wrong?
Liberals support the killing of the unborn with their vote, they caused the death of millions after vietnam. I wouldnt put anything past these fools. Another example of how liberals just dont get it....
yep, I totally agree...sit at home one day and do nothing...then go work a 40 hr work week...tell me which one feels more natural...I'm not saying anarchists are lazy but rather doing what you want is more natural...
Please do not compare yourself to Jesus, at least not in this matter. In your argument, however, Jesus as an anarchist (which he really was not), where did He behave in this manner? I get your point that you (they) are trying to bring about change, but is spray painting the steps of the Capitol really going to help? Does it serve any purpose other than to destroy? BTW, this is not a religious issue. It is an issue of right and wrong regarding this action of spray painting.
I can't see dividing the issue of right and wrong from who is responsible. The Capitol Police chief has held this job for less than a year. Why is he giving orders to withdrawl in order to allow this to happen? Did he expect people to jump on the steps and sing Kum-bi-ya?? NO, he didn't. He wanted something to happen - there- I said it out loud. Painting little squares seems rather a yawn, though.
So if I understand your reasoning, the responsibility falls on the police not those individuals with paint? By your reasoning, by withdrawing he might as well have purchased the paint for these protesters. Is personal conduct and sense of decency only the responsibility of authority? How sad you may think this! NO! Individuals ARE responsible for their ONW actions. These protesters with Paint were / are wrong and they ought to be called out!

What does that comment mean? Are you saying that since the police did not stop it (which is NOT to say they permitted it) that it was OK for them to do this? Is that your argument? I do not want to point out the obvious idiocy of that thinking if I interpreted your comment incorrectly.
This is one of several reports that "the police permitted". Another one said the officers there were disgusted with the order to withdrawl that was given by the USCP chief Phillip Morse.
So, even assuming your argument, the police "permitted" this, does that make it right to deface our Capitol building? Where do you find justification for these actions? What positive purpose did it serve the demonstration to spray paint? Why oh why can you not simply admit the wrongful nature of this action? Why is it that difficult?
Hell no I don't empathize with those that defaced our property, but pay closer attention to what she said - she said "the police permitted" and that they made NO arrests. Look beyond the obvious and ask "WHY"-I can't come up with a valid reason- but that's what happened. Sounds like the police were working w/the "anarchists"- now WHY would they do that?
You're right. It was wrong for people to spray paint the Capitol and it was wrong for the police to allow it! Period! It was WRONG! Shame on anyone who defends it. You either do the right thing or you do the wrong thing; regardless of what others may do, including President Bush, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry or Dick Cheney, anyone!
I don't get it! Why defend these actions? No matter no small you may think them to be, the fact that someone defamed our Capitol should be called out. There is no defense for this action; NONE! No matter your political view, no matter what GWB may or may not have done, no matter if your left, right or center; good decent people do not go around spray painting on any property that is not their own. Quit posturing and simply agree that these action were WRONG!
maybe we can waste the lives of 3000+ troops and hunt down the "terrorists" responsible for this action. we better be careful however, like saddam they could have wmd's! Or they could just be huffing spraypaint
Please help me understand how your comments justify the actions of those spray painting the Capitol? The issue of THIS video is not Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, OBL, Saddam, the economy or anything else. It is about people violate a symbol of OUR country with spray paint? Why is it so very hard for you to say what they did was wrong?!
Try to focus. Rights and wrong are not just made up of the "big" things, they are also, and perhaps more importantly, made up of the little things. In the grand scheme of the world spray painting may be trivial, but, your inability to call a wrong a wrong, means only that the line between right and wrong is relative to you. Why is it so hard to admit this was wrong?
We can spend 2 trillions in Iraq the rental of a pressure cleaner wont break us. and illgeal mexicans well operate the pressure cleaner since the poor blacks in the Washinton D.C ghettos wont do it.
Would you rightwing conservatards like some fine Vermont (home of Howard Dean, archetect of the Democratic takeover of the House and Senate!) Cheddar cheese with your whines?
You know people voted for Democrats not because they believe in what they believe in but because Republicans didn't show up to the polls due to inner-disgust with the party, right? You weren't given a mandate, you were given a chance.
Excuse me? Who started the war on gay marriage and the resulting hatred? Who initiated racial profiling? The liberals I know only want peace and harmony. Think again!
Typical! Your comments have NOTHING to do with the fact that someone spray painted OUR Capitol. It is wrong and its OK for the Left, the Right and the Center to say so. It was WRONG! Quit blowing smoke and quit defending it. Call it what it is... WRONG!
So what a building is more valuable than a human life is that what you are saying! You are the one who said wrong is wrong and it wrong for our government to step over people sleeping on those sidewalks while walking into the capitol.
Good video report. Everyone should write the Speaker of the House as well as their congressman and demand that the police answer for their failure to protect government property. I bet if I spray painted "God Bless Our Troops" on the US Capitol steps, I would have been arrested and also held responsible for the cost of cleaning up the graffiti.
Why aren't you asking WHY did USCP Chief Phillip Morse & Deputy Chief Daniel Nichols give orders to "permit" the protestors access? The cops didn't do it on their own. Why not taze Morse and Nichols for crimes against the state?
I read the police were ordered to fall back by the Capitol police in essence to ALLOW protestors access. She even says "the police permitted". We'll see more of these type of reports at peace demonstrations. Those that are involved in the acts of "anarchy" may actually have strong ties to those wishing to turn people against the peace and/or impeachment movements. Just like 'Nam. Wonder when they're going to start showing flag burning? No arrests? Wow-aren't Capitol cops lame.
Our service men are not drafted, they have enlisted, they chose to make this their life for a time being. They are proud to protect this "great" country. Why not allow them to be proud of the people they are fighting for? Be thankful, be supportive.
It's wrong for any group, to spray paint on the capitol building or any building, unless you own it yourself!!
The war isn't fun, but it's a war. Calling our soldiers home, is not going to keep anyone from getting killed!!! We will have war here, in your front yard, kids being killed on their way to school, people not being able to leave their homes, no normal life like you know it and don't seem to appreciate!! Is that what you all want??
how are you drawing this conclusion??? if we spent half the money that we have spent on our war with iraq on securing our own borders we wouldnt be "fighting the war in our front yard." dont drink the kool aid!
Actually the Boston tea party was a disgrace. Those people should have protested without destroying property. Today a swat team would have stopped them before they destroyed valuable goods. You can protest, but DO NOT DO IT ILLEGALLY no matter what.
i've seen a worse mess after a bunch of kids drew hopscotch with chalk. That's IT?
Guess it's MUCH better to loot billions for your cronies and send 3,000 brave American soldiers to die for made-up reasons, tho. Keeps the Capitol steps clean as a whistle!
Big deal!!! They sprayed a couple of symbols oooooohhhh!!! Graffiti has never killed people but the war they use it to protest has.!!! No two ways about it!!! THINK PEOPLE!!!
b)This sniffs of FOX "NEWS", Swift Boat propaganda
c) 'tagging' Our Nation's sacred property is WRONG
Yet, some UNKNOWN "Radio" Station pouncing on a NON-STORY - shameful. I do hope this "Radio" Station gets probed. I bet we find out they know whom did it.
d)"Bethanie Swendson".. can you say FAKE name? RNC deep pockets? desperate?
Hey B4TT3RY...how are you ok with the actions of these anarchists. "harmless" you stated...fine I will just swing by your house later today to spray paint your front door.
I know who did it! It was G.W.Bush cousin, Bubba Bush. Yep, I seen him run up the sidewalk to the stairs and spraypaint GWB stick figures then blamed it on the Liberals and Democrats! I kid you not! (hehe, well maybe just a little)
I'm against the illegal war in Iraq and I want our troops brought home immediately, but I also want the government to investigate this vandalism incident and to find the "anarchists" involved. This sounds like another case of the government itself using agents provocateur to discredit legitimate and peaceful popular movements. I hope there are photos of the people who did this so we can detain them next time, even if the police will be ordered not to do so.
You can object to policy, politician, you can protest and argue your position and still be respectful to property and humanity; those are not mutually exclusive ideas. Why do you defend this incident, no matter how minor YOU may think it to be? Why is it that a group that calls attention to this defamation evil and ones who did the graffiti good? Why not simply say, yes it happened, it shouldn't have and those that did the graffiti were wrong for doing so? Why defend this action?
What is sad about this is the fact that the same people who protest because they "love America" will also defame one of the iconic symbols of America. What is sad is that so many people think this is just another wacky right wing over reaction, what is sad is that some many people comment negatively about a group that defends life, honors America, and respects the symbols of our great country. How two-faced, two-voiced, are these people.
You can protest, disagree with policy and argue your position and still be respectful to property and humanity; those are not mutually exclusive ideas. Why do you defend this incident, no matter how minor YOU may think it to be? Why is it that a group that calls attention to this defamation evil and ones who did the graffiti lifted up? Why not simply say, yes it happened, it shouldn't have and those that did the graffiti were wrong for doing so? Then it all goes away. Why defend this action?
Liberals hate America and try at every turn to destroy it. Defacing the building that holds the power of the Nation should outrage everyone, conservatives & liberals. If you spray graffiti on anything you will be arrested and fined. Arrest the SOB's that defaced our Nations Capital. Hold Pelosi accountable or you can expect more of the same or worse. If you notice the reporter said the mess had been cleaned up.What remained in the video was obviously what they could not clean off.
Liberals are MOMS and DADS SONS and DAUGHTERS SOLDIERS GRANDMAS GRANDPAS they're the people who banded together and forced out the lying, corrupt hypocritical homosexual self-hating liars like Foley. Liberals R Americans with legitimate concerns we don't want our children to be blown up anymore than U do, shutup with that BS "liberals hate America" People like YOU would consider the Boston Tea Party as vandalism; they're not equivalent, but C'MON!
I can not believe the immature hateful remarks from the post on this report of the truth, all I can say is grow up and get a life! (Father God forgive them for they no not what they do) or say!
Gosh! There's smudges of paint on the stairs! Oh my goodness! What's next from FRC radio, a story on an overflowing trash can? Oh, I know! How about an overly-used notice kiosk, with posters covering up other posters! 3,000 of our troops dead in Iraq, at least 30,000 Iraqis dead, two lunatics in charge of our country, and PAINT SMUDGES are what's important to you? Excuse me, but I think you need to reread those Bibles you're always thumping.
This was a news report? I certainly don't agree with vandalism and grafitti, but this is ridiculous. Someone spent time recording a reporter reading notes in front of the Capitol building, and brief shots of cleaned up paint spots.
The streets of Iraq are littered with the blood and the bodies of who knows how many tens or hundreds of thousands of men, women and children killed in this war started by Bush, buildings have been destroyed and power is erratic, and this reporter from the Family Research Council is concerned about a few illegible marks of paint? Get real!. You can't be pro-life and be pro-war as well.
I was there and saw the anarchist groups yelling at the police...It was actually quite amusing in a way...very silly...I hate how they say only a couple thousand were there...a couple hundred thousand at least :)
Yes, a splinter group of anarchists spraypainting graffiti PROVES that the Iraq War is just and that the dead bodies aren't really happening. Or, Brent Bozo is an idiot.
This is sooooooooooooooo silly. What I see is this video is three light-colored blotches. No sign of who put them there and when.
I was there and saw a well-mannered, orderly crowd of people, many of them looking like like your next door neighbor. They even left hardly any litter.
Talk about making a mountain of a molehill.
Now an immoral __and__ incompetently conducted war that is running our country's budget into the ground, that is a mess worth putting on YouTube.
I didn't get my super-secret email from Speaker Pelosi ordering me to vandalize! In any group there will be individuals that will persue their own agenda. Why don't you attack the individuals that did this, not the group that hosted the event? This video is silly and pointless. Maybe the FRC should have reported on the 100k protestors that showed up to stand against furthering the violence rather than a handful of nutcases acting nutty?
A couple slight marks of graffiti which have already been washed away is not a real story. "Anarchists?" Those people were demonstrating for a return of sane government and respect for the Constitution. Dissent against the President or marking pavement doesn't make anyone an anarchist. Those were proud Americans who care about the country too much to stay silent while the President leads us further into a fiasco.
You can be a dissident with a sign, you dont need to spray paint over stuff that someone else has to pay for and clean up. How many of these people were honest on their tax returns?
I just walked over to the Capitol. It took a long while but finally found "the evidence." A real big nothing burger. Nothing compared to the tourists' gum marks. What crap. This is what helps make the FRC a joke. Can't wait until all baby boom culture warriors, left and right, have gone on to meet their maker.
So you compare a tourist dropping gum to the actions of someone defacing OUR Capitol? If FRC sprayed "In God We Trust" and that was removed, you would feel the same way? But I digress, the issue is not who sprayed what, the issue IS that someone actually sprayed painted our Capitol. Quit posturing and admit the obvious; this action was wrong or does your arrogance prevent you from being honest?
You FRC people crack me up. I hope lots of people see this video so they'll know what fools you are... its just a smudge of paint. A few acid-rain showers and it will be gone completely. Meanwhile you people show up with the most disgusting paraphenalia, forcing unsuspecting people to look at gory photos of miscarriages, body parts and what-all else... but its the smudge of green paint that's offensive. Right.
Do us all a favor and crawl back under the rock from which you came.
Huh? These people get whackier and whackier every day.
I simply cannot see where "anarchist symbols" were spraypainted on the steps of the capitol.
After replaying it a few times, it looks like some stray spraypaint marks from people painting signs on the concrete - like the kind you see when you paint near the edges and some sprays off the side.
What sad, miserable people these must be to make such a big deal over nothing....
I just walked over to the Capitol. It took a long while but finally found "the evidence." A real big nothing burger. Nothing compared to the tourists' gum marks. What crap. This is what helps make the FRC a joke. Can't wait until these baby boomer culture warriors, left and right, are in their graves.
The anarchists are not liberal Democrats. They hate us as much as they hate the Family Research Council. The Family Reserch Council knows and recognizes this, I'm sure. As a group that wraps itself in the flag and claims integrity, I'm sure that is a fact they would want clearly understood.
Focus on the Family and the miscreants that support it are the reason we not only need abortion to be legal, but for there to be mandatory abortions for your type of vermin that has destroyed America.
The Romans had a pretty good thing going throwing you to the lions back in the day. I wish that would have continued.
You righties are priceless. You don't care about any investigations into why we were misled into a fiasco of a War, but you're all screaming for Nancy Pelosi to investigate spray-painting protestors. Do you realize how pathetic that is? Feigned indignation looks bad on you, but you keep wearing it like a Burqua. Nice going.
Wow, a couple smudges on the steps. Catch me, I'm going to faint. I guess when someone is shooting doctors coming out of their homes and bombing clinics then she'll be right there reporting eh?
Wow! Over 100,000 people show up to protest the war, and all the GOPLoads can focus on is some graffiti! The willful ignorance of the Cult of Bush (which I personally differentiate from the good old balanced budget conservatives of yesteryear) never ceases to amaze me!
So we see where anarchists get their worldview - from dead people like Mark Twain, a FICTIONAL writer.
Our worldview comes from our Creator AND Redeemer, the LIVING God whose inspired Words will either condemn you (if you reject Him) or save you - if you believe."
- deranged fundamentalist christian
Get help, fast. The works of Mark Twain are no more fiction than the Bible. And this is coming from a Christian, just not a bat-crap crazy-eyed fundamentalist christian (with a small 'c').
Sorry, this is not "on the spot reporting". The definition of that is being there when it's happening. This is obviously the day after. Heck we don't even know what was really painted on there!
Considering that 3 years ago I witnessed Pro-Lifers exercise their free speech by harrassing children of Pro-Choice activists by asking them "How many babies has your mother killed today?" and "You should be glad to be here because your mother is a baby killer", I think a little spray paint is a lot less hurtful.
Typical, typical, typical; the cliché that is the left and "anti-war and anti-American" US citizens continue to get "American government protection" while, honest, forthright, America loving US citizens get painted (no pun intended) as the trouble makers.
The police were told to stand down. Not because they are part of some socialist cabal, but more likely because the image of a riot on the steps would have been worse. Spray paint can be washed away, the image of hundreds of people being arrested on the capital steps would have stayed around forever.
Kingvitaman, do you know what "sending a message" is in political terms? Many arrests have been made in the Capitol because of things like disturbing the peace, vandalism, rioting. Yes, images of a riot would have weakened the Democratic Congress' position on the war.
Odd. People like Darganot mention so-called modern Libralism then quotes Twain. Human behavior is constant: greedy, politically motivated, or loving, forgiving & everything between. This is favoritism as Speaker Pelosi never hid her distain for the Iraq war. 1st Amend. doesn't protect vandalism & Pelosi KNOWS it. Bet she didn't show up with a scrub brush. I challenge Nancy to investigate the matter. Watch: no arrests & police chief keeps job. Expect bi-partisan lips but self-interested acts.
Sorry, Darganot, democrats (dhimmicrats) will condone all behavior as long as it is anti-Bush. Kerry sits down in Davos with the leader of Iran and blames America. Islamofacist, anarchists, hey, what a party!
I wish I was smart, like you, so I could "get it." To me, being a dhimmi doesn't sound all that good. Maybe if you could "get it," you would see that these people will kill you first. Just because they hate the President, doesn't mean they don't hate you worse.
I should have guessed all the comments would be from conservatives who just don't get it.
Anarchism has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with modern Liberalism. It is a CLASSICAL liberal philosophy that probably has more in common with modern right wingers than left. But neither modern political movement has anything to do with where they started anymore.
"Patriotism is serving your country all the time and your government when it deserves it." -Mark Twain
So we see where anarchists get their worldview - from dead people like Mark Twain, a FICTIONAL writer.
Our worldview comes from our Creator AND Redeemer, the LIVING God whose inspired Words will either condemn you (if you reject Him) or save you - if you believe.
Um, Mark Twain was a real person, Samuel Clemens. And thank you for pointing out where you get your world view from: a Fictional Deity written about in a WORK OF FICTION CALLED THE BIBLE! You don't really believe in talking snakes do you?
GREAT! kudos I say. kudos.

If you don't agree with something, that doesn't give you the right to break the law, and vandalize things. Since when does two wrongs make a right?

last comment of 6!>> I do not agree with their protesting, but it is their right the same as it is my right to protest abortions. But nobody has the right to do any kind of vandalism to any structure for any reason. That should be the issue, respectfully. And to not agree is being foolish, and trying to make a statement by being radical. I also think each group should be afforded the same rights and allowances. Let Freedom Ring!
amonogian 5 years ago
Amonogian, Comment 6 of 6 is spot on. Excellent summary! I vote, I've protested, I've served, I sign petitions, I write letters, I educate myself on the issues, I make up my own mind and I respect differing ideas; BUT I do not deface others or property. Defending the wrong actions of others or ourselves only moves the issues in the wrong direction. Its ok to admit a wrong, it really is. The protest was right by its nature, the vandalism was wrong by any standard
tjw12 5 years ago
5th comment out of 5 .. ooops 6>> Whatever story was told with this video actually makes no matter. Some say it is bogus, some applaud it. The only facts we know are: There was a protest against the war and there was vandalism of some sort.

No one wants to die, and no one wants their family to die, but I thank God for the thousands and thousands of men and women that choose to serve and protect. Or we will have the wars here, and they most assuredly would be here if we did not keep them on foreign lands. I think until any of you posters can look a serviceman in the eyes and tell him he shouldnt love his country enough to fight for her, and even die for her, then take your anti-American values and go somewhere else.
amonogian 5 years ago
I would like to know how many of you, or how many of the protestors have served our country wihtout the draft? I understood during previous wars and even peace time when there were those that opposed the wars and even serving. But I do not understand how there can be protestors now when all of our men in the service are there because they chose to be. They went in to serve their country.

and this... Morse continued, "The size and continual movement of the crowd provided concealment and made detection of their actions impossible. Once the crowd dispersed, I was appalled and disgusted that any individual, whatever their cause, would deface the grounds of the Capitol."
tjw12 5 years ago

OneWhoFlew 5 years ago
van•dal•ism --noun 1) deliberately mischievous or malicious destruction or damage of property: vandalism of public buildings 2) the conduct or spirit characteristic of the Vandals. 3) willful or ignorant destruction of artistic or literary treasures. 4) a vandalic act. Was this YOUR property? Did you have permission to "color" on the Capitol? If the answers are no, then you are a vandal and this was vandalism. Simple, easy and the truth.
tjw12 5 years ago
why blow smoke to defend a WRONG action?

They are cowards and they are wrong!
tjw12 5 years ago
You push past a line of cops who are all armed with lethal weapons and you can throw around the word coward, until then, keep your highschool propaganda in your mouth. Also, this report is false, this was not an anarchist group, it was a group made up of anarchists, leftists, and even some democrats(my friend was one of these present).
youzwan 5 years ago
Pushing past a line of police, knowing that they cannot do much of anything to you, to break the law deface the Capitol is being a coward. In this situation, brave people find a way of being impactful without resorting to "high school" vandalism. BTW, what's the difference between a group of anarchists and "a group made up of anarchists"? There is NO defense for this groups actions. PERIOD!

You are correct, there was a very diverse mix, it's just the Black Bloc tends to stand out with their attire and Flags.

karlaelisa 5 years ago
Why take graffiti over war? Who said the two are related? Why graffiti at all? What positive purpose did it serve? It did two things ONLY, spraying graffiti on the Capitol only detracted from the group's credibility and message, and it defaced a great symbol of our country; and that is sad as the message was a noble one.
tjw12 5 years ago
By the way, I have the respect and decency not to push through police lines and not deface public property. I am brave enough to say that type of behavior is counter productive to any cause. I do not need that type sensationalism and destruction to have a positive impact and make a difference.

theredpill99 5 years ago
Please do not compare yourself to Jesus, at least not in this matter. In your argument, however, Jesus as an anarchist (which he really was not), where did He behave in this manner? I get your point that you (they) are trying to bring about change, but is spray painting the steps of the Capitol really going to help? Does it serve any purpose other than to destroy? BTW, this is not a religious issue. It is an issue of right and wrong regarding this action of spray painting.
tjw12 5 years ago
I can't see dividing the issue of right and wrong from who is responsible. The Capitol Police chief has held this job for less than a year. Why is he giving orders to withdrawl in order to allow this to happen? Did he expect people to jump on the steps and sing Kum-bi-ya?? NO, he didn't. He wanted something to happen - there- I said it out loud. Painting little squares seems rather a yawn, though.
Cata1123 5 years ago
So if I understand your reasoning, the responsibility falls on the police not those individuals with paint? By your reasoning, by withdrawing he might as well have purchased the paint for these protesters. Is personal conduct and sense of decency only the responsibility of authority? How sad you may think this! NO! Individuals ARE responsible for their ONW actions. These protesters with Paint were / are wrong and they ought to be called out!

tjw12 5 years ago
This is one of several reports that "the police permitted". Another one said the officers there were disgusted with the order to withdrawl that was given by the USCP chief Phillip Morse.
Cata1123 5 years ago
So, even assuming your argument, the police "permitted" this, does that make it right to deface our Capitol building? Where do you find justification for these actions? What positive purpose did it serve the demonstration to spray paint? Why oh why can you not simply admit the wrongful nature of this action? Why is it that difficult?
tjw12 5 years ago
Hell no I don't empathize with those that defaced our property, but pay closer attention to what she said - she said "the police permitted" and that they made NO arrests. Look beyond the obvious and ask "WHY"-I can't come up with a valid reason- but that's what happened. Sounds like the police were working w/the "anarchists"- now WHY would they do that?
Cata1123 5 years ago
You're right. It was wrong for people to spray paint the Capitol and it was wrong for the police to allow it! Period! It was WRONG! Shame on anyone who defends it. Please help me understand how your comments justify the actions of those spray painting the Capitol? The issue of THIS video is not Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, OBL, Saddam, the economy or anything else. Why defend this action?
tjw12 5 years ago
What is sad about this is the fact that the same people who protest because they "love America" will also defame one of the iconic symbols of America. What is sad is that so many people think this is just another wacky right wing over reaction, what is sad is that some many people comment negatively about a group that defends life, honors America, and respects the symbols of our great country. How two-faced, two-voiced, are these people.

Excuse me, but I think you need to reread those Bibles you're always thumping.
madhaus 5 years ago
This was a news report? I certainly don't agree with vandalism and grafitti, but this is ridiculous. Someone spent time recording a reporter reading notes in front of the Capitol building, and brief shots of cleaned up paint spots.
Please.
NorthCarolinaFan 5 years ago
The streets of Iraq are littered with the blood and the bodies of who knows how many tens or hundreds of thousands of men, women and children killed in this war started by Bush, buildings have been destroyed and power is erratic, and this reporter from the Family Research Council is concerned about a few illegible marks of paint? Get real!. You can't be pro-life and be pro-war as well.

I was there and saw the anarchist groups yelling at the police...It was actually quite amusing in a way...very silly...I hate how they say only a couple thousand were there...a couple hundred thousand at least :)
danjew56 5 years ago
Yes, a splinter group of anarchists spraypainting graffiti PROVES that the Iraq War is just and that the dead bodies aren't really happening. Or, Brent Bozo is an idiot.
yankee98 5 years ago
This is sooooooooooooooo silly. What I see is this video is three light-colored blotches. No sign of who put them there and when.
I was there and saw a well-mannered, orderly crowd of people, many of them looking like like your next door neighbor. They even left hardly any litter.
Talk about making a mountain of a molehill.
Now an immoral __and__ incompetently conducted war that is running our country's budget into the ground, that is a mess worth putting on YouTube.
Katastastrophe 5 years ago
I didn't get my super-secret email from Speaker Pelosi ordering me to vandalize! In any group there will be individuals that will persue their own agenda. Why don't you attack the individuals that did this, not the group that hosted the event? This video is silly and pointless. Maybe the FRC should have reported on the 100k protestors that showed up to stand against furthering the violence rather than a handful of nutcases acting nutty?
TheDickieman 5 years ago
A couple slight marks of graffiti which have already been washed away is not a real story. "Anarchists?" Those people were demonstrating for a return of sane government and respect for the Constitution. Dissent against the President or marking pavement doesn't make anyone an anarchist. Those were proud Americans who care about the country too much to stay silent while the President leads us further into a fiasco.
frightwig71 5 years ago
You can be a dissident with a sign, you dont need to spray paint over stuff that someone else has to pay for and clean up. How many of these people were honest on their tax returns?
ULT255 5 years ago
I just walked over to the Capitol. It took a long while but finally found "the evidence." A real big nothing burger. Nothing compared to the tourists' gum marks. What crap. This is what helps make the FRC a joke. Can't wait until all baby boom culture warriors, left and right, have gone on to meet their maker.
salsabob 5 years ago
So you compare a tourist dropping gum to the actions of someone defacing OUR Capitol? If FRC sprayed "In God We Trust" and that was removed, you would feel the same way? But I digress, the issue is not who sprayed what, the issue IS that someone actually sprayed painted our Capitol. Quit posturing and admit the obvious; this action was wrong or does your arrogance prevent you from being honest?
tjw12 5 years ago
You FRC people crack me up. I hope lots of people see this video so they'll know what fools you are... its just a smudge of paint. A few acid-rain showers and it will be gone completely. Meanwhile you people show up with the most disgusting paraphenalia, forcing unsuspecting people to look at gory photos of miscarriages, body parts and what-all else... but its the smudge of green paint that's offensive. Right.
Do us all a favor and crawl back under the rock from which you came.
quelbaloney 5 years ago

The anarchists are not liberal Democrats. They hate us as much as they hate the Family Research Council. The Family Reserch Council knows and recognizes this, I'm sure. As a group that wraps itself in the flag and claims integrity, I'm sure that is a fact they would want clearly understood.

Nice going.

Hard to beat on the spot reporting. A bunch of lies? Not when you have evidence and verified quotes!
veritasmedia65 5 years ago
Sorry, this is not "on the spot reporting". The definition of that is being there when it's happening. This is obviously the day after. Heck we don't even know what was really painted on there!

Considering that 3 years ago I witnessed Pro-Lifers exercise their free speech by harrassing children of Pro-Choice activists by asking them "How many babies has your mother killed today?" and "You should be glad to be here because your mother is a baby killer", I think a little spray paint is a lot less hurtful.
bluesytreehugger 5 years ago
Typical, typical, typical; the cliché that is the left and "anti-war and anti-American" US citizens continue to get "American government protection" while, honest, forthright, America loving US citizens get painted (no pun intended) as the trouble makers.
tjw12 5 years ago
The police were told to stand down. Not because they are part of some socialist cabal, but more likely because the image of a riot on the steps would have been worse. Spray paint can be washed away, the image of hundreds of people being arrested on the capital steps would have stayed around forever.
kingvitaman 5 years ago
Kingvitaman, do you know what "sending a message" is in political terms? Many arrests have been made in the Capitol because of things like disturbing the peace, vandalism, rioting. Yes, images of a riot would have weakened the Democratic Congress' position on the war.
Whatsupjacques 5 years ago
Do you have proof that the police were told to stand down or is it one of your insane hallucinations?
yankee98 5 years ago
Whatsupjacques 5 years ago
Sorry, Darganot, democrats (dhimmicrats) will condone all behavior as long as it is anti-Bush. Kerry sits down in Davos with the leader of Iran and blames America. Islamofacist, anarchists, hey, what a party!
I wish I was smart, like you, so I could "get it." To me, being a dhimmi doesn't sound all that good. Maybe if you could "get it," you would see that these people will kill you first. Just because they hate the President, doesn't mean they don't hate you worse.
sacktube 5 years ago
I should have guessed all the comments would be from conservatives who just don't get it.
Anarchism has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with modern Liberalism. It is a CLASSICAL liberal philosophy that probably has more in common with modern right wingers than left. But neither modern political movement has anything to do with where they started anymore.
