TT's aren't anything special, at least the mk1's aren't. I raced one in my 24v vr gti and there wasn't much of a difference, and it was even the 225 hp, with a GIAC chip. It's basically a mkiv golf, doesn't even use the quattro system, technically it uses 4-motion, based off of the same platform as the golf.
@mantviux look, it's based off of a mk4 golf chassis. It's the same car just with a different body. So basically you have a mk4 golf. Look it up, that's the facts. And that guy prolly wasn't even been pushing down on the throttle, cuz if you're stock, and he has a stage 1 chip, he has about 40 more horse power than you, there's no way in hell that he would have lost to you, cuz TT's are heavier than golfs to begin with. I'm not trying to argue but I think you got your facts backwards..

I have a 2006 Audi TT 225 and I have raced the same 2004 Acura RSX Type-S three time and I always beat him...He dumps it out of the hole and I don't..i dont even launch my car hard...I still walk right by him..The 180 TT isn't a fair race at all...not knocking the RSX it's a great car but a more comparable car would have made for a better race..just saying

I paid $25k out the door for my '06 Type S (RIP) with only 10k miles on it and i can tell you it was overpriced especially for the lack of features and build quality: no LSD, flimsy aero kit, pleather shifter boot tearing after only 57k miles, bumpsteer, no MP3 playback or even burned CDs for an '06 (Bose stereo nuff said), and ride quality compared to other entry-level luxury sport cars, not even close.

I seriously doubt either one of them bought those cars "new". A 2001 TT 225 can be had for $9000, add $500 for the chip and you are still in the range if not cheaper than a RSX type S and you have a hell of a lot more car.
@mickey13172 I'd say the Type S is kinda in between a K03S and K04 TT. The TT weighs heavier so the K03S is not enough grunt but the K04 has way more torque. It seems like it would be an easy win for a K04. I've actually had the pleasure of owning a 06 Type S and now a 04.5 GLI and while the Type S bone stock had more HP and grunt I just can't get over the value I got out of the GLI, the ride quality and features are day and night in comparison.
I have 2006 TT 225 and walked the shit out of a RSX-S...my car has no mods except muffler delete...I'm getting a REVO tune soon and will be really tearing it up..The TT 225 is a great foundation but is pretty good light to light but pulls very hard 70 mph to 140 or so..it doesn't take much to get them to really rip just a few small mods

Also as having driven an '08 R32 Golf...its not that fast, it sounds great, but its really not that quick. Off the line you have to give it full revs, which ruins your clutch. Save some money and buy a GTI, run more boost and it will dance all over the 32. The R32 does sound porn.
@privatealpha disagree to a certain degree, ur rite R32's arent quick in general for wot they are, but ull hav to spend alot of money on engine and chassis to get a gti to get it off the line as quick as VAG AWD's. also, u may roast ya clutch in AWD's off the line, but my tires are lastin longer on my tt 225 quattro, than my 1998 1.25 fiesta zetec haha. gotta love the 3.2 v6 noise though, actually jiz in my pants :P
@miniskinny13 I agree absolutely. Front wheel drive is a bit devilish, have a turbo corolla myself. Also have an Audi allroad, however its automatic, so no full boar starts. The RSX's are surprisingly quick, have seen stock ones cover the quarter in the high 13 sec.

@miniskinny13 you need chip the engine. the raise in boost really improves the performance and you can find them for around $500 with noticable gains. DIY install too

bout right, the RSX has 20 more hp, AND weighs 200 less, just not quite as much torque...but that 225 version TT with Quattro is crazy off the line....still wish they had a REAL 2.0T turbo with like 250hp to live up to that gorgeous sports car look without the extra weight of the VR6. Don't need lots of horses to pull something that is super light. RSX goes fast cuz its light. Put a few passengers in the car and it can't move at all.
A stock 225 version would've taken the Type-S off the line and kept ahead. A chipped 180 model is usually good for a mid/low 14 second pass.. video looks like it should

the vr6 tt isnt much faster, the v6 is heavy and since its naturally aspirated, the power gain isnt as much as youd expect, plus it doesnt do much due to the wieght gain, although it does have more torque...
also a v6 250hp tt vs a 2.0 liter 4 banger rsx making 200hp isnt a fair comparison. a 350z is more suitable for a v6 250hp tt...
I told you about the top speed coz that's some really high speed. You have to be ignorant to say that 240 km/h means slow. Maybe that viper got the record but it doesn't mean it's the best car. Keep in mind that there was probably an experienced driver that did it and not a normal driver (in the end , we aren't all pilots or something , so the car that's easiest to drive for the most ppl , has to be the best handler. TT's aren't anything special, at least the mk1's aren't. I raced one in my 24v vr gti and there wasn't much of a difference, and it was even the 225 hp, with a GIAC chip. It's basically a mkiv golf, doesn't even use the quattro system, technically it uses 4-motion, based off of the same platform as the golf.

@mantviux look, it's based off of a mk4 golf chassis. It's the same car just with a different body. So basically you have a mk4 golf. Look it up, that's the facts. And that guy prolly wasn't even been pushing down on the throttle, cuz if you're stock, and he has a stage 1 chip, he has about 40 more horse power than you, there's no way in hell that he would have lost to you, cuz TT's are heavier than golfs to begin with. I'm not trying to argue but I think you got your facts backwards..

How does this TT have 50 or 60 HP on top of RSX? The dude has a reflashed ECU without any supporting mods. I'd say he's boosting 13psi and chocking the system with it, barely adding 20HP. RSX is lighter and it makes 200HP, no?
Plus the guy on the TT didnt even launch the TT the way it is suppose to, otherwise the RSX would have been behind until maybe in 4th gear which i'd say they would have shut it down. Either way props to it!

I have a 2006 Audi TT 225 and I have raced the same 2004 Acura RSX Type-S three time and I always beat him...He dumps it out of the hole and I don't..i dont even launch my car hard...I still walk right by him..The 180 TT isn't a fair race at all...not knocking the RSX it's a great car but a more comparable car would have made for a better race..just saying

I paid $25k out the door for my '06 Type S (RIP) with only 10k miles on it and i can tell you it was overpriced especially for the lack of features and build quality: no LSD, flimsy aero kit, pleather shifter boot tearing after only 57k miles, bumpsteer, no MP3 playback or even burned CDs for an '06 (Bose stereo nuff said), and ride quality compared to other entry-level luxury sport cars, not even close.

I seriously doubt either one of them bought those cars "new". A 2001 TT 225 can be had for $9000, add $500 for the chip and you are still in the range if not cheaper than a RSX type S and you have a hell of a lot more car.

@mickey13172 I'd say the Type S is kinda in between a K03S and K04 TT. The TT weighs heavier so the K03S is not enough grunt but the K04 has way more torque. It seems like it would be an easy win for a K04. I've actually had the pleasure of owning a 06 Type S and now a 04.5 GLI and while the Type S bone stock had more HP and grunt I just can't get over the value I got out of the GLI, the ride quality and features are day and night in comparison.

I have 2006 TT 225 and walked the shit out of a RSX-S...my car has no mods except muffler delete...I'm getting a REVO tune soon and will be really tearing it up..The TT 225 is a great foundation but is pretty good light to light but pulls very hard 70 mph to 140 or so..it doesn't take much to get them to really rip just a few small mods

that rsx wuldnt stand a chance against an r32 (awd, 250ish bhp standard), in fact if that tt 180 in the video was quattro, he mite hav beaten the rsx. hav had my tt 225 for few monthes now and the "off-the-line" acceleration is unreal compared to similar spec fwd/rwd motors, hav onli ever broken traction once on wet tarmac with tcs off in her. thats wot will mean the difference between winin and losin a streight line race, unless its a long streight line of course lol

Also as having driven an '08 R32 Golf...its not that fast, it sounds great, but its really not that quick. Off the line you have to give it full revs, which ruins your clutch. Save some money and buy a GTI, run more boost and it will dance all over the 32. The R32 does sound porn.

@privatealpha disagree to a certain degree, ur rite R32's arent quick in general for wot they are, but ull hav to spend alot of money on engine and chassis to get a gti to get it off the line as quick as VAG AWD's. also, u may roast ya clutch in AWD's off the line, but my tires are lastin longer on my tt 225 quattro, than my 1998 1.25 fiesta zetec haha. gotta love the 3.2 v6 noise though, actually jiz in my pants :P

bout right, the RSX has 20 more hp, AND weighs 200 less, just not quite as much torque...but that 225 version TT with Quattro is crazy off the line....still wish they had a REAL 2.0T turbo with like 250hp to live up to that gorgeous sports car look without the extra weight of the VR6. The whole "boat anchor" idea VAG has isn't helpin things....good thing they make killer engines....

the vr6 tt isnt much faster, the v6 is heavy and since its naturally aspirated, the power gain isnt as much as youd expect, plus it doesnt do much due to the wieght gain, although it does have more torque...
also a v6 250hp tt vs a 2.0 liter 4 banger rsx making 200hp isnt a fair comparison. a 350z is more suitable for a v6 250hp tt...

I told you about the top speed coz that's some really high speed. You have to be ignorant to say that 240 km/h means slow. Maybe that viper got the record but it doesn't mean it's the best car. Keep in mind that there was probably an experienced driver that did it and not a normal driver (in the end , we aren't all pilots or something , so the car that's easiest to drive for the most ppl , has to be the best handler. I highly doubt that it would be the viper..

why? I never said I don't like my RSX. I love it, But I don't love it for it's speed. I love it for the blend of practicality, price, and driving feel.
the CAI and Reflash both help with around-town driving, and the RH was a deal.
Doesn't change the fact that a 335i would beat me in any sort of race. If I wanted a sport sedan I would be saving for it but at this point there is no need to change cars so I'm modifying the RSX slightly to enjoy the car more myself, not to win races or what not

I have never seen a stock 4cyl Honda engine make over 175lbft. Care to enlighten me? The same rating would be VERY common for even a small V6....and if it helps any, a Corvette can get the same hwy fuel economy as a V6 Accord so.......don't really matter how many cylinders it is, economy is determined by weight and mass more than ANYTHING else.
