  • @ggamdrup Umm it's not an old myth. There's also a difference between lifting like a bodybuilder and lifting heavy with a 1RM like this kid is doing. Go heavy enough with the weights at a young age and you can diminish your growth plates.

On the other hand, there are plenty showing that lifting has no effect on height. Lifters tend to be shorter only because of natural selection bias to the sport. Funny that no one seems to think that playing basketball will make a kid tall though...

  • @HectorVictorious1 I actually just looked it up and found quite a few. On the few studies I did read, they all said the same thing. Lifting heavy at a young age, especially before puberty, can cause damaged growth plates. It's even worse if you're doing it with improper form.
