  • wait so how do you make that opening if the two walls are not co-planar? im trying to make a rectangular doorway through a curved wall and cant figure it out

  • i love you for this video! thanks dude!

  • For the skewed wall, couldn't you have used the push/pull tool from underneath, pushing upwards into the wall until the desired height was reached? :D

  • ur vids r reallllyy helping me. thanks.

  • There was no door sill.

  • so how the fuck do u make parrele or coplainer?

  • @CoOopAkid2008 oh stop coplaining :D

  • how would you creat a opening in oval or arched shaped wall. it won't let me do that someone HELP

  • @hitmanLis

    Here is one option:

create a box the size of the opening you want to create

Move the box so it intersects where you want your opening

select the wall, go to edit, intesect, intersect with model

then delete your box and the wall should have lines cutting it where the box was

delete the space where you want the hole

  • Super'

  • i recomend not puch pull when making a opening simple click the face you want to delete and press "delete" on the keyboard

  • Why is that better than simply "punching through"?

  • because when you get here it is not a pain in ass

  • you can do that if you're working with one face, but when you're working with 2 faces that make a "thick" wall, pushing a face through both walls is simpler, because this keeps you from having to define the perimeter of the opening on both the outside and inside of the wall. its alot easier this way.

  • That is useful when creating openings in "single faced walls", but not on "double faced walls", because it doesn't create faces between the two faces and you'd also have to delete openings on both walls.

  • you need 2 stop fuckin tlkin so much

  • Not coplanar (same plane), but parallel. : )

  • To change your drawing units, choose Window > Model Info. In the Model Info dialog box, look in the Units panel. There's a place to change from inches to meters there.

  • @aidanchopra thanks man you are a life saver

  • Could someone help me please. I want to draw in meters, so two question. 1.How do I change from inches to meters? 2.Would the messuarements would show in meters and not in inches? Thanks You.

  • Hi.

When you first open up Google Sketchup 7 (if u have an earlier version, then idk if this is true), a little start up screen should appear. In the top right you should see "choose template" Click on that and there will be many choices of templates. Each template has the choice of you using it in Feet and Inches, or Meters. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks for the message. I solve the problem myself some time ago, but appreciate the message.

  • Ok, if the push pull doesnt work when you try to cut through walls that have faces that are not 'co-planer' does anyone know how you would cut an opening in one?

  • its complicated... how i would do it is make a separate shape not connected to the model, but the size you want the dorr to be. then move it into place and use intersect with model and erase the extra bits... if that makes sense...

  • yes, very goog! :)

  • very goog ! More tutorials will be welcomed ! Thanks !
