Listen to me guys, I've listened to hundreds of live performances of I have nothing by amateur singers and famous singers, none of them come close to this version. She is singing clear, not through her nose, but it is also powerful and rich. she has amazing voice control, and she has an amazing range. her clarity and power from the performance is the best iv'e seen. better than whitney's. she overdoes it and i dont like it when she does.

Simon is really judging trully wherein I was amazed in his prediction after Carrie's "Alone" performance that she can sold millions of albums after Idol.
Latoya London in season 2 who were really flawless vocalists and he praised them. Her case was like Trenyce in season 2, Simon didn't like her too. Maybe it was because Simon's command of judging to voters but I think it really has nothing to do with racism. It's about how best singer you are and how marketable contestant you are to the market.
poor Vonzell she really cried after singing this song I remember because against all odds she made it to top 3 her family was always there for her no matter how Simon disliked her to win but Carrie. Talent is talent and it has no color so to make statements like blacks are more talented is ridiculous. Christina Aguilera is also part hispanic..the thing is...white people have awesome voices too but it's more common for black people to have good voices. For example I'm white and out of my closest white friends only one has an amazing voice and maybe a few have pretty voices (the rest are terrible, including me) while out of my black friends most of them have ok to pretty voices and more than 1 has an amazing one.

Probably deserved to win, but given American Idol's audience (let's just say they're in the Bible belt and censorship to them is a good thing), she didn't have a chance against a white, blond, Christian girl. I was so impressed when she did the OTHER key change - higher than the one the other AI contestants do when they sing this. She only missed one note, but it was great.

Its not that we have "good" voices, its that we allow our emotions to reflect in our sound quality but there are many white people that sing better than some black people, its just black people know how to make singing more heart felt.

She is far more consistent in her upper-register singing, which even the judges commented on time and again. Producers she has worked with have attested to the fact as well.
It's also the reason why, even when she's SICK, the HIGHEST sections of the song are always the part that she NAILS! It's the lowest parts that suffer. That is proof that her voice is naturally placed HIGHER, otherwise her upper register would be the one to suffer when she's not at her best.

She is very comfortable singing high notes. Heavy doesn't = uncomfortable. She clearly and effortlessly sings throughout the 5th octave, in FULL voice, with a more dominant chest-resonance than Vonzell.
Vonzell sings in a head-dominant MIXED coordination, and she LOOKS like she is in pain! That is also why she tends to go SHARP or FLAT so often in her upper register....because she needs to PUSH her voice to those heights. Ie, It is not natural.
I would love to hear both of them go at it FULL-FORCE, as well. Vonz wouldn't even be heard. Not only was Carrie sick during top 3 week, she LET Vonz have her moment. When Vonz was getting all fancy with her little vocal licks, Carrie and Bo were just standing on the side rooting her on. But make no mistake about it, if she wanted, Carrie could have drowned her out without even having to go into her upper register.
Hell, Vonz was even drowned out by the BAND and backup singers half the time!

Vonzell is working on her album as we speak. Due to complications on her previous label, she was not able to record until the contract was up. She is now CEO of her own record label and establishing herself as an independent artist. Her album is to be released early next year. So no she is not working at the post office. Carrie's timbre doesn't change when she goes up that high, because she can still nail the notes in her FULL quality chest voice. Vonzell slides into a head-driven coordination of chest and head voice; so the transition from her going low to high is a lot more OBVIOUS, since her timbre changes.
You can try to argue the contrary as much as you want, but this song would be SIMPLE for Carrie note-wise. Maybe it doesn't suit her stylistically, but that's all.
Oh, and the highest this song goes up to if an F. It sounds high for Vonzell, cuz on the "stay in MY arms" part, she sounds like she's tearing her throat apart (especially when she sang it on tour)....Carrie hits a high F like it's nothing it just doesn't seem as high to tone-deaf people like you because her voice stays FULL when she reaches those notes. Vonzell's becomes thin and pinched sounding, so it seems higher to you.
I'm just refreshing my memory of past contestants. Vintage Idol. Lots of good singers. The winners are not always the best of the lot. I would say all of the top 12 of every season are really good in their own way.

Also, Vonz has had professional vocal training for over 7 years. Carrie doesn't have any formal training period, ESPECIALLY not when she was on Idol. and she was able to belt F# in chest even when she was 17 (in her live cover of Aretha Franklin's "Respect")....it's sad that Vonzell is the one with training, yet she's almost ALWAYS sharp! She's sharp because she sings songs that are TOO big for her voice, and she pushes the notes TOO hard. She wants to be a Whitney when she's really a Mya.

For example I'm white and out of my closest white friends only one has an amazing voice and maybe a few have pretty voices (the rest are terrible, including me) while out of my black friends most of them have ok to pretty voices and more than 1 has an amazing one.

Probably deserved to win, but given American Idol's audience (let's just say they're in the Bible belt and censorship to them is a good thing), she didn't have a chance against a white, blond, Christian girl. Carrie Underwood is a solid country artist, but vocally, anyone who knows anything about music will tell you Solomon was the better singer. But that really doesn't matter. Idol isn't about that. It's about finding a star that can make Simon Fuller a lot of money.

She is far more consistent in her upper-register singing, which even the judges commented on time and again. Producers she has worked with have attested to the fact as well.
It's also the reason why, even when she's SICK, the HIGHEST sections of the song are always the part that she NAILS! It's the lowest parts that suffer. That is proof that her voice is naturally placed HIGHER, otherwise her upper register would be the one to suffer when she's not at her best.

She is very comfortable singing high notes. Heavy doesn't = uncomfortable. She clearly and effortlessly sings throughout the 5th octave, in FULL voice, with a more dominant chest-resonance than Vonzell.
Vonzell sings in a head-dominant MIXED coordination, and she LOOKS like she is in pain! That is also why she tends to go SHARP or FLAT so often in her upper register....because she needs to PUSH her voice to those heights. Ie, It is not natural.

I would love to hear both of them go at it FULL-FORCE, as well. Vonz wouldn't even be heard. Not only was Carrie sick during top 3 week, she LET Vonz have her moment. When Vonz was getting all fancy with her little vocal licks, Carrie and Bo were just standing on the side rooting her on. But make no mistake about it, if she wanted, Carrie could have drowned her out without even having to go into her upper register.
Hell, Vonz was even drowned out by the BAND and backup singers half the time!

Vonzell is working on her album as we speak. Due to complications on her previous label, she was not able to record until the contract was up. She is now CEO of her own record label and establishing herself as an independent artist. Her album is to be released early next year. So no she is not working at the post office. The simple truth is: I don't dislike her. I think she's quite good. But whenever I come into one of her videos, attempting to like her, I see all of these derogatory comments toward Carrie, coupled with biased, INVALID claims that are often racially motivated. Their highest in full voice is the same: G5. Only difference is that Carrie's is in a chest-dominant tone while Vonzell's is head-driven. When Carrie hit it, her timbre doesn't change. When Vonz does, her timbre DOES change.

Carrie's timbre doesn't change when she goes up that high, because she can still nail the notes in her FULL quality chest voice. Vonzell slides into a head-driven coordination of chest and head voice; so the transition from her going low to high is a lot more OBVIOUS, since her timbre changes.
You can try to argue the contrary as much as you want, but this song would be SIMPLE for Carrie note-wise. Maybe it doesn't suit her stylistically, but that's all.

Vonzell's becomes thin and pinched sounding, so it seems higher to you.

Again, the highest Vonzell strains up to in this is an F5. Carrie has hit that same note in live performances and SUSTAINED it with vibrato for several seconds. She's also gone up to F#5 and G5.
Vonzell's highest in full voice is ALSO G5, but again...it sounds higher to you because her voice takes on a much THINNER, lighter quality....Carrie's stays HEAVY.

Also, Vonz has had professional vocal training for over 7 years. Carrie doesn't have any formal training period, ESPECIALLY not when she was on Idol. and she was able to belt F# in chest even when she was 17 (in her live cover of Aretha Franklin's "Respect")....it's sad that Vonzell is the one with training, yet she's almost ALWAYS sharp! She's sharp because she sings songs that are TOO big for her voice, and she pushes the notes TOO hard. She wants to be a Whitney when she's really a Mya.
