  • @ctminarchist Socalist isn't a diss.

  • goodbye an good riddance

  • So long Greens, consigned to history with the PD's. Ah but you leave a lovely legacy

  • @45vincentconnolly Revenge is at hand, The greens can feel the big purple monster brushing up against the door, sweat breaking out of their empty foreheads for sure.

  • Even Deirdre De Burca didn't vote Green!

  • Jobs is a good reason. Green Party ministers will be lookin' for them soon!

  • Greens are the biggest bunch of cut throat phonies ever, they just drove the borrowing rate up by 3 per cent!! today with their stupid power trip, hope we get re-elected manifesto, today Nov. 22nd. Guys you are history, you went against the democratic will of the people who trusted you to stand by the country and not your careers. Stupid middle class pricks that you are!!!!

  • @coatespeter Measure the space between your brain.

    Green Party = SACKED.

  • plus theyll make it legal to smoke an oul spliff!

  • Great video that, though. Wish the party election broadcasts here in the UK were half as well made.

  • "We need European money in Ireland because we don't have the money ourselves" Quite.

  • Whey hey, its the party for slugs and cabbages

  • wat happened to shell? sellouts

  • Shell? Tara? Fluoride out of Water?? Green sellouts indeed.

They'll get decimated at the next elections.

  • They don't actually give any reasons at all! They just wasted the "two minutes" after initially giving the impression that time was a premium. Fuckos!

  • Dan cant get elected , and soon the senate seat will be pulled from under him

  • No thanks. You lot are history.

  • It starts off with "we've just got 2 minutes to explain..." to try to create a sense of urgency...but then all they do during the entire video is just give us loads of vacuous waffle with twee, happy-clappy background music. What a bleedin joke!

  • The Greens want to create jobs? Don't make me laugh! Green jobs? A good idea to a certain extent, but some of these jobs wouldn't be long-term in nature.

The Greens don't have much integrity - they were going to expose the corruption that went on with the Corrib Oil fields but once they got into power that went out the window. All they are good for is increasing taxes. They live in a dreamworld.

  • I hate the way the Greens want to tax us on carbon, when many people have no choice other than use a car. There aren't even enough buses in Dublin. Dublin public transport has only a capacity of ONE FIFTH of the entire population. The bicycle is only suitable for short journeys and Dublin isn't safe for cycling in anyway.

  • Yeah and Carbon taxes are a SCAM.Man made global warming is an insult to intelligent people. The politics in this country are controlled by Banks so whoever ya vote for will be no different.

  • Yes, I know. I'm all for not needlessly wasting energy. But to say that global warming is caused solely by man is ridiculous. Most of it is caused by nature and is a natural phenomenon. I'm all for stopping pollution, etc, but burdening people with carbon taxes is just a scam alright. Besides, there has been global COOLING since 1999 - not that they tell you that!

The banks should NOT get bailed out. They should be taken in hand and the scum thrown out of them!!

  • The Greens are FINISHED. They will disappear by the next general election. They sold their soul to Fianna Fail. They were just the lapdog of incompetent Fianna Fail. Pity, because the Greens had some good ideas, but they destroyed their own chances.

  • Goodbye Green Party. You lot are FINISHED!.

  • the green are finished.

fianna fail have used the greens to prop them up make it seem like there is and alternative voice in voting and will now let you rot like the PDs

Good enough for you soul selling crouts!!!!

  • Heard that the green party are going to tax peoples hair , HAIR !!!!!!!! I ask you Hair?

I know its emmiting CO2 gasses , so I guess its OK. How much per strand ? I dont care because I will shave it off to save the planet. Whats next to Tax eh Green clowns? Cars , Houses . hair ? Pets maybe. Vets in Ireland are going to be busy then. VOTE GREEN , FOR A SADER MORE MISERABLE LIFE. THANKYOU !!!!!!!

  • Well done to the Greens. You have single handedly destroyed any hope of Green politics ever gaining ground in Ireland. The nail in the coffin came this morning for me when Eamon Ryan came on Pat Kenny show to defend the Corrib Gas deal. I guess you fools learned nothing from the demise of the PDs.

  • A great broadcast well done. Go Green!

  • Dan Boyle cant get elected!

  • Slick ad...looks like there is a lot a green funding the propaganda. Fill up the Irish countryside with wind turbines that generate too little energy?..that won't help tourism or jobs.

  • Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (1950)

*Article 1 Obligation to respect human rights 1

The High Contracting Parties shall secure to everyone within their jurisdiction the rights and freedoms defined in Section I of this Convention.*

As Ireland signed up to this in 1953 and did not implement it then the Irish Government is guilty of Human Rights Abuse!!

Is the Lisbon Treaty a Face Saver?

  • To Mr Magsy...and Others!

This is from the Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms ..Rome November 4th 1950. To which Ireland signed up in 1953

Section I Rights and freedoms 1

Article 2 Right to life1 1. Everyone's right to life shall be protected by LAW

A similar law was passed by UNICEF in the 90s to protect kids.

The first ALMOST 60 YEARS AGO AND STILL NOT IN PLACE!!

    FARCICAL or ...??

I sent pictures of some incidents to all parties over the past year. NO REPLY FROM ANYONE!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah - Tax my driveway!!!

  • Vote Green if you want to pay more tax !

    Carbon levy

    Water rates

These clowns would ruin the economy for good with their green clap trap and economically damaging policies .There is no need for a green party environemental issues will be looked after by the Eu and every party now has their own green policy .

  • yeah, every party has its own green policy, and normally it sucks... environment is not a secondary issue, it's probably the only way to save our disrupted economies (i'm talking about the whole of europe...).. apart from that, i found the video very well done!

  • Why is HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE Continuing in Ireland??

And......... IGNORED By YOUR PARTY !!!

In spite of signing up to a human rights convention which declares that all nations who signed up to it must have a law in place to protect life Ireland does NOT abide by that law!

Dangerous work practices which would not be tolerated on building sites are carried out regularly on the man streets of our towns. LEGALLY!!!

    LISBON TREATY, me backside!!

  • We rejected the Lisbon Treaty which included the Charter for Human Rights.

What are these dangerous "work practices" being carried out on the main streets of towns?

  • Definitely the best election advert I've seen in a very long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm voting Green purely because they posted this video in HD.

    Hooray for HD videos.

  • The damage is done. We had a very strong economy up until 2002 when our focus changed from exports to construction. The GP had nothing to do with that. It's going to take years for us to us to not have a budget deficit and we're going to be told many more times that "there's been a serious deterioration in the public finances."

You don't like Dan Boyle, that's fine. You, again, haven't given any reasons for your opinion. Can you explain how the "Greens are [running] riot?"

  • You've, again, reverted to a personal attack on my character instead of arguing something constructive. It further shows your lack of understanding.

You're angry, you're right to be. I take it from your signin that your 20. This might be your first vote. You should vent your anger at FF and their Independent buddies because they're the power hungry, greedy "minions" as you call them. The GP aren't wholly innocent but they're not as much to blame as you make out. They'll have a bad day though.

  • Not only do you have poor political judgment, you are also an innumerate.Being born in 1989 doesn't necessarily make you 20.If FF and their lowly whipping boys the GP weren't in government, there could be an education system adequate for helping deficients like you.You demonstrate futher ignorance by resorting to relativism again-you say FF is bad, but just because the GP is slightly less awful, they aren't necessarily an objective good. Filthy peon.

  • Hahaha so you're saying that if the GP didn't get into power there would be a much better education system? I'm beginning to think you're practicing your debating by throwing out ridiculous and misinformed statements.

    1. The GP have had nothing to do with education since the new Government was formed.

    2. The education system is pretty good. Facilities aren't the best and 3rd level is underfunded - besides that, it's pretty good.

  • I think the word you're looking for is dichotomy not relativism and innumerate is an adjective, not a noun. Being born in 1989 means you may or may not have voted in the last general election, that's the point I was making. You should do some objective research before you can make your informed decision on June 5th.

  • You have no idea where my political allegiances lie, not that it matters. To say someone has poor political judgement when you yourself have formed opinions on ignorance is crazy. I don't know how someone so ignorant can be such a philodox. I can assure you that I can constructively argue and defend where I stand politically, but I am willing to hansardize if I am proven wrong. You should try to be more open minded too.

  • No, the word I am looking for is definitely relativism. Perhaps you are a functioning illiterate as well as innumerate. Also, NB that as we are not in America, "hansardize" should be "hansardise". Ignorant GP supporting fool. You shouldn't be too hard on yourself however, studies have shown that those of limited intelligence have a propensity to become frustrated. Resist this - surely your pennance for voting Green should be to see John Gormless and his band of idiots wreck the country.Fucktard.

  • It's hansardize in every English speaking country.

    You defined dichotomy, not relativism.

I don't support the GP and unless it changes substantially I never will. I support green policies - big difference.

You are clearly the frustrated one.

You have an over inflated opinion of your own intelligence. You're probably quite dumb.

I've no idea why you're so aggressive when arguing. Abusing someone doesn't make you right.

  • Nope, it's definitely relativism...check the dictionary if you are capable of figuring out its classification system. Also note you incorrectly deploy "hansardise"-that refers to a digression half way through an essay, not the context you wrote about.Funnily enough I saw the newspaper article online from which you misguidedly appropriated that word-clearly you lifted philodox from it as well.Illiteracy is nothing to be ashamed of-you do not have to have a "word of the day" to impress those who

  • are more literate, such as myself. It is evident that you re a Green voter. Grasshead. Well done for distinguishing an adjective from a noun. Clearly the hours you have been spending with "Adventures with Phonics" were not wasted. Green voting country wrecking self absorbed philistine.

  • I've no idea where you got your definition for hansardize from. I suppose if someone is writing an essay they could hansardize halfway through it, but that would only be one context in which to use it.

I've no idea what newspapers you read online and I've no idea what article you refer to. I'm sure if you google any word you will find loads of sites using it.

How is it evident that I'm a GP voter? I find that surprising because I have never even considered voting for the GP.

  • To be honest, I'm sick of your empty arguments and unfounded attacks. You need to cheer up and get laid.

  • Aw, you cracked and made an insult. Looks like somebody got tired of turning the other cheek! I was going to say you were some sort of Xtian Democrat due to all of your posts above containing the faux tolerance, but that's clearly not the case. It's evident that you're a GP voter from your persist defence of them in your posts. I was going to say that it was a simple matter of reading between the lines, but in fact this is unneccessary-subtlelty eludes you and peons of your ilk.

  • The lack of coherence on the part of the Green supporters is breathtaking...it's Libertas not Libertass, peon. Vote Green if what you want is spineless, power hungry environmental nitwits. Otherwise, well...don't.

  • And why vote Libertas? The lack of coherence in Libertas' candidates is ridiculous.

  • Congratulations - you can clearly read at a basic level. Unfortunately, you failed to make the next jump, which involved realising that I am not advocating a Libertas vote, rather; I am merely pointing out the many problems with the Green Party include the inability of its cabbage and tree loving supporters to spell correctly.

  • You're clearly very intelligent. Unfortunately, you didn't see the pun. Libertas are seen by many as a party of asses. Therefore, Libertass. It's called humour. This is emphasised by the use of capital letters.

It's very easy to give reasons not to vote for a party or person (which you've now done in three consecutive posts). What's your alternative and why?

Also, if you're going to "compliment" my reading ability, you should probably learn how to use a semicolon.

  • I was going to vote Libertas. But now I've come to the realisation that they are manipulators. They act both anti-EU and pro-EU, opposing the Lisbon treaty which is all about giving national governments more power and making the EU more democratic and smooth, but at the same time fight for European integration and more democracy in Europe. They have made a number of other contradicting statements and I just don't trust them any more.

Vote Green for reliability. I like Greens but I'm voting libs.

  • Firstly, MrMagsy, the fact that you had to explain a joke probably proves it was not of a particularly humorous character. Secondly, why should I provide an alternative? That the Greens are an amoral disaster is a fact in and of itself - don't bother trying to engage in political relativism. Even if there were no opposition parties of substance in existence (fortunately there are), this would not make the Greens a good choice. Rotten peon.

  • The fact I had to explain a joke to you means you didn't get it, nothing more.

You obviously feel strongly about politics and you clearly have a preference from the opposition. Why not say who you would like to see in Government?

Are you referring to me as a "peon"?

  • It amazes me how you perpetuate the poor quality of the "joke" below by explaining your explaination, in a manner analoguous to the pathetic and ill timed interventions of the Greens. Evidently you possess little judgment, not unlike the tree huggers propping up the Government. With regard to the question of who I would like to see in Government, that is not what we're talking about here, and therefore irrelevant. And yes, I am calling you a peon, you miserable political abomination.

  • You're obviously quite bitter with life, cheer up.

I would question your understanding of the word peon, particularly when used in America. You should be more careful with your use of words.

You like your argumentum ad hominem. Not that that makes you right about anything you say. A miserable, political abomination? Get over yourself.

I don't see how "explaining my explaination" is in any way analogous to anything the Greens have done and I don't see how you can blame them for FF&PD's mess?

  • They are directly culpable for elements of the current situation - if they could pluck up the courage to pull out of Government, we could finally have an alternative in place. They won't however, because they are the cowardly, power hungry minions of FF. I have no idea why you reference America in relation to usage of the term "peon" - this is posted in Ireland, and the Greens are an Irish party. Get your geography right, you thick tree lover.

  • Again, the personal attacks - leave them out. They do nothing except to emphasise your lack of knowledge on the subject.

Peon is an offensive word throughout the world, particularly relevant in America. I'm sure if you take the time to look up the meaning you will stop using it.

FF and PDs have been in power since 1997. They are the ones who "are directly culpable for elements of the current situation." Unfortunately, the damage is done.

  • I wouldn't call them the power hungry minions of FF. They made a mistake going into Government. The party members voted for the 'Program for Government.' What can they do now?Pull out and be destroyed in a general election?

You still haven't said who you believe would do a better job?

Anyway, the GP are a European party and this is an EU election. Both candidates in the broadcast are running to become MEPs. It's not really that relevant to vote against them for not pulling out of Governmnet.

  • LOADS OF WIND AND BUCKETS OF WAVES

  • Yeah vote Green Party and secure jobs for lots more mercenaries working security on the Corrib gas terminal in Mayo

  • I really like it it is simple and direct. Pity there is no candidate in the West. Good Luck

  • It worked for me. I haven't seen any of the other party political broadcasts, but that's quite good. I recognise the guy from the bike shop in Rathmines (ThinkBike - the friendliest bikeshop in Dublin)

  • Ugh...I support Green but it really annoyed me the way they used children like that.

"Here is our second reason for why you should vote green" Followed by pictures of children, a father saying "Please vote green" then more cute kids going "Thank you!"

Uhhhh....don't play on emotions like that Green party! People these days see through that kind of thing.

  • There's nothing wrong with pointing out that "green" (not specifically Green Party) policies are good for the future i.e. our children.

  • I do know that, and I suppose that's what it's all about. I support the Green party but I don't like the way they almost exploited children in that video.

  • i think you have a point... let's stick to facts and not tug on emotional heartstrings so much... still won't stop me voting green the only ethical party with a vision of ireland

  • To be honest, I didn't interpret it as exploitation but I see where you're coming from.

I'm not sure there are any ethical parties in Irish politics (maybe onw). A lot of GP members would call it unethical to go back on promises like the ones they made to the Shell to Sea protesters or when they said they would never go into Government with FF. They're definitely not the worst though.

As far as green policies are concerned, I'm not sure GP policies are the best from the opposition parties.

  • In answer to what stevecork says, the Greens actually do have a pivotal role in the current crisis; if they weren't so utterly spineless and selfserving and took the initiative to pull out of government (and reverse their general election sellout), this Fianna Fail government would be consigned to the dustbin of history, the best place for them to be. and to stevecork only:Dan Boyle is despised in South Central for his misplaced arrogance and propensity to swan around while in fact doing nothing

  • This just another front for the communist party. Vote Green and we will have Gulags everywhere.

  • Cá bhfuil an leagan inár dTeanga Féin?

  • what a load of appalling rubbish. that is probably one of the most unrealistic, sickly sentimental pieces of political tosh I have ever seen produced. also, note well that the quality of the candidates roughly corresponds to this assessment, especially in the case of Dan Boyle. it is reasonably common knowledge that he is only running to boost his profile in South Central for the next general election. hardly admirable stuff. seriously, "think of the children, vote Greens".break out the violins.

  • dan is very well known in his constituency. so much so when i am canvassing for him in the area. everyone expresses their regret that he did not get elected. and promise to vote for him no1 next time round. he is running because he is giving people the option to vote for the pan European Green Party. and some people. myself included. want to vote for that. also Dan is more prominent in munster and active in his various roles than the sitting MEPs. and would be the best candidate imo.

  • Very well said... NOT. I bet you're one of those homophobic facists what's the word? Oh, yeah LIBERTASS

  • Great message - great policies - liked it a lot.

  • Good job - well done.

  • Comment removed

  • irish sales may have dropped 64.9% ... but you know iceland's sales dropped 91.3%. without a vrt change. its the economic crisis

. they were saying whats the difference between ireland and iceland.

one letter and six months. thats how scared people were and are.

I'm canvassing and talking to people who have lost their jobs due to the economic downturn. why then do you expect them to buy a car? it has nothing to do with vrt.

there is a lot to blame. but not the green party

  • why doesn't dan look like he does in his posters?

I do like the way it reflects the original one made for the 2007 election showing that we have not changed... just gained more experience. same vision though. we just need more votes.

  • Excellent message and very well made. Good Luck Dan and Deirdre.

  • excellent video, well thought out and very well put together.

  • awh i liked it, shame about dan boyles tie though

  • Well done The Greens, getting smart just in time. Kids are the future, good message

  • nicely made video!
