1982 version is the best, detail the asp, punjab was left out. kathy bates is a tripple threat but cannot do justice as mrs hannigan, albert finney captures daddy warbucks ,gruff but melts under annies charms. 82version picks up 1930sbetter..musical numbers in 1982s excellant,1997 leaves alot to be desired. does not come accross.fdr82version,fantistic.governess 1n 82 version better dancer and singer,,
The best thing about living in NYC is that when you randomly go into the middle of the street and start dancing, people ignore you because they assume you're practicing for a play or movie or something.
The main reason the choreography looks "sloppy" is because they were trying to reflect how Miss Hannigan had a drinking habit in that version. Honestly, I like it better that way, with the little slapstick moments thrown in.
The 1982 version is better. However, I do like how they pause between the singing to complain about Annie having it better then picking back up on the singing. I also like that they took it out on the street and it seemed like no even saw them singing and dancing. Allan Cumming made a good Rooster not better then Tim Curry though.
@pinkglitterwitch The 1982 version of Easy Street is a total disaster even with the likes of Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters and Tim Curry. The choreography is a mess and they sound like they are each singing a different song that doesn't go together. This version gets it right thanks to Rob Marshall. Totally brilliant!
Hello Annie fans!! I think this version of the song is sooooooo much better than the original although I think the old Annie was better overall. This version always puts a smile on my face and I have seen it a dozen times!! How fantastic is Alan Cummings. Wow, I didnt even recognise him and I knew he was an actor as I have seen him in Spiceworld but he is incredible and I definitley know who he is now!! He can sing, dance and act. I think he deserves an oscar for his role as Rooster!! Amazing
These 3 Will Be Reunited At the 63rd Emmy Awards on September 18th....All Nominated For Different Roles, Kathy Bates for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Alan Cumming for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Kristin Chenoweth for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series...! I Hope They All Win!! :)
First Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters, and Carol Burnett and then Kristen Chenoweth, Alan Cummings, and Kathy Bates. This song is great in both of the movies versions!
I remember watching this on Disney Cinemagic a few years back but the TV was going funny then in 2009 I was in a shop and I nearly had a heart attack when I found the DVD :D
@jpmccsgirl Miss Hannigan is much scarier in the 1982 version, isn't she? Carol Burnett obviously wasn't as worried about scaring children as Kathy Bates apparently was.
this is maybe the only scene i like out of this whole movie...besides the last part were hanigan is doing her little"someday i'll land in the nut house" then she gets rolled out i really like that but i stil like the origanal more especially because of annie's curly wig :D :l
My friend is playing rooster and we're doing annie at my high school, and I pretty much should have had it, being the kind of prodigy of the club. I thought he was doing terrible, but now seeing that my director had him basing his character on this rooster, I understand why. The singing is good though, even though its the wrong keys at points.
Rooster and Lily are like a Joker and Harley Quinn kinda couple, right?
