Lillith wasn't Abel's lover. She was the prototype for the Crusnik program and a mother figure to Abel. Abel mourned her murder by Cain (his brother so to speak) for 900 years. At the end of that time, he saved the young girl (Caterina Sforza) and decided he should continue Lillith's position of protecting the humans from the Methuselahs.

So It's not very likely for there to be a next part...some other mangaka finished trinity blood though.

It wasn't a manga, it was two series of light novels (Rage Against the Moons and Reborn on Mars). There is still a manga being written that follows the second series. The main problem with the anime is that it tried to condense both series in mash-up of episodes. The first two episodes were from the first series while the third and fourth were from the second series. So some chronology is messed up like Esther meeting Noelle - never happened. So yeah, novelist = dead, mangaka = alive.

there really wasn't much of a fight b/t them - I think Cain nearly killed Abel but then they were both badly injured and needed time to recover. And stuff still happened in the meantime to other characters (like AX being dissolved & Caterina & Tres joining RCO).

The irony is that Cain is evil yet looks angelic in his Krusnik form, and Abel is good and yet looks demonic. I'd still take a demonic good guy anyway. Just something worth pointing out.
