that great job! has a Spanish accent at some point? I loved it. than good it sounds! that shades so beautiful! What a story! I congratulate you wholeheartedly. Marcos Sasone.
I tried doing something like this last year...well...I got one of my piano sonatas and turned the music upside-down....wrote it into Finale 2011, and my ears began to bleed...This is actually pretty cool.
this is just fascinating. im inspired to use that initial idea of applying a name to a series of notes. i loved hearing the development of the motif between all the different styles of sections. definitely something id listen to if it was being played by a real orchestra. great job!
Congratulations, Daniel. I enjoyed this piece of compostion very much and admired the inspiration that you got and how you expressed it so beautifully with your composition and presentation. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Is there anything more romantic than having a work of art created in your honour? Truly, this is the sincerest form of flattery. My husband made a wooden carving of me when we met that I still treasure to this day. I presented him with two of my one-of-a-kind original prints of feather art, with personal messages on the back. This song, Daniel, is simply breath-taking. I am a HUGE fan. Jennifer
I like the beautiful you develop your thematic materials..Shostakovitch use spelled out his name D-Eb-C-B so it has a chromatic feel...Were Samuel Barber,Howard Hanson or Roy Harris your influences? There a Brahmian feel in passages too.
I always compose stuff in my head, and i am pretty good with using the phonetics of a name and making a theme =) Been doing that for a while; only if I had more knowledge of music, perhaps I could write it down and go from there =( But nice idea and great composition!
Considering it to be your first orchestral piece...., what can I say... The theme based on Deborah's name is wonderful!! Reminded me a bit of the Promenade-theme (Moussorgsky) but your twist in the orchestral creation is so different and refreshing. This one's in my favorites!!! respect, dear sir! Baz (The Netherlands)
I immediately thought b4 I read ur notes that I was listening to something by Sibelius...I not very familiar with his 6th, mostly listen to 2nd & 5th...the opening melody sound very much like the opening melody of either Boris Gudonov or The Stone Flower....but its somber sound a cross between Grofe & McDonald....the aimless wondering in this piece sounds very much like Tubins 5th
Oi ! tudo bem!? você é um grande compositor!! muito bonito!! foi muito legal ver seus rascunhos e em seguida a obra completa!! parabens!!! queria eu ter estudo para fazer isso!! obrigado por compartilhar!!
Hi Daniel; Another wonderfully composed work. I really enjoyed all the beautiful theme variations and full orchestration. Along with the other comment, I too liked the use of the snare drum and castanets, but also really was moved by the crescendos up to the fortissomo's. I look forward to hearing your next composition. Thanks for sharing....JT
I love the beautiful strings episode especially - the warmth and colours conveyed by it really move me. A brilliantly thoughtful and impressively structured work, with lots of varied orchestral colours. Thumbs up from me!
This is brilliant! And beautiful. You know Shostakovich's 8th quartet employed the same concept. Dimitri Shostakovich. DSCH. D E(flat) C B(Flat). Hi initials.
HOW THRILLING!!!! This excites me to know that there are SO MANY things that have yet to be conjured from the Wisdom of our GOD! What a great thing to be encapsulated in this form of expression in such a personal and satisfying way! LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing it here with me! Anything new lately??? Please include your newest here for me (link) reply. Thank YOU! =- ))
An absolutely amazing piece.... nearly left wordless! It is just all so wonderful, your orchestration is amazing, I love the snare drum! Interesting use of castanets as well! I love the way every section gets a go at the wonderful Deborah melody! So many amazing parts, but my absolute favourite would have to be from the timpani roll at 14:46 to around 17:20 So beautiful and passionate, one of my favoruite extracts from any piece of yours! Congratulations on such a masterpiece!
