Love this Grindenstein. Had it for a few years and still looks like new. I stick it in the dishwasher. Perfect size, when it gets full, I dump it around my roses, they look lovely!!! Very sturdy and well made.
I have the brown one and I love it. I don't know if you can put it in the dishwasher or not. I never do...just rinse it out once in a while. Sometimes I wished it would hold a few more pucks -- hold about 6 before it must be emptied.
About the dishwasher. I've had a metallic gray one for about a year. It goes in the dishwasher every other day.The finish of the bar and body are still perfect. I love it.
Hey Kat, when I am emptying my portafilter, the coffee doesnt come out in a puck.. Some will come out, but a lot of the coffee is still stuck in there and i have to fish it out with a finger/utensil. Any advice? Thanks!
What kind of machine do you have? If it doesn't have a three-way brew pressure release valve, the coffee is always going to be soupy. If it does, then you might be grinding too finely and it's not able to extract enough moisture for the grounds to form a puck. - Kat
My puck is watery as well if I dose the standard 14 grams for a double shot. This is because there is to much space left in the portafilter, even though I have a three way solenoid. BUT it I dose 20 grams (about as much as I can fit into the portafilter), the puck is hard and nice and easy to knock out.
But as long as the espresso is nice I don´t care! Some espressos is really nice @ 14 grams I must say! I rinse my portafilter under water anyway if the puck is watery.
Interesting! I know some people dose as much as 9 grams per shot as standard practice, and I'm pretty loosey-goosey with the actual quantity I put into the portafilter... ;) - Kat
Do i really need to get a knock box if i will be using it for home and only make drinks for myself everyday? can't i just throw the grinds in the trash directly? :9) (newbie)
Not really - it's a nice to have, if you're not brewing near the trash. But if you have the chance to compost, your coffee grinds are really awesome for plants, so you could even spread them around your garden :) - Kat

@markpianoman Awesome -- yeah, I like these because they're pretty rugged overall and have nice size to them. - Kat
