Ok heres what really happened. they all was going to go to a recording studio and meet up for a set time, dave and krist got there but kurt didnt show up untill the day after so dave and krist started recording some songs that dave wrote before nirvana and this is one of them songs
i got impression that dave got mad rage against anything wanna fight with anyone that why he called his band foo fighter cuz kurt has suicide without any message before
Correction- much to my dismay Cobain did not play drums on this song. I knew he didn't contribute vocals, but it turns out this song is is Grohl all vocals/guitar/drums and bass by Krist Novoselic. Probably the last piece of Nirvana history for me, wanted those to be Cobain's drums, as was his original instrument...seems the heroin got in the way of the studio for this session. Dave, the oppurtunist, God bless em.
actually wait, what i said didn't make seance unless Dave has magical powers. i looked it up and they told me he did both drums and guitar so i really don't know?
Actually Dave wrote tuns of songs while in Nirvana. He just never showed them to Kurt. He said so himself in an interview. It's too badd :[ he's such a great song writer!
@StompBoxAddict It is Dave. This song was recorded on a session that Kurt didn't show up. Also, Dave wrote this song before to join Nirvana, after Scream. You can listen the original version on a Dave's underground recording called Pocketwatch. Pocketwatch is a cassette album by Dave Grohl, under the pseudonym Late!, released in 1992 on the now defunct indie label, Simple Machines, as part of their Tool Cassette Series.
And Dave also helped with aneurysm. I wonder what Kurt would think of Dave now too FATLAYNE, he's written some pretty good songs and even a tribute to Kurt "friend of a friend" i bet Kurt would be proud.
wow this is such a different sound for Nirvana because MOST of them are loud and crazy but this one is so calm and peaceful. I am so obssed with this song.
@nirvanagurl21 lol me too. i have a playlist in my Frostwire where i accidently ued it up 3 times in a row and never bothered to edit it. whenever it comes on i just go with it n listen to it all three times. its that good, imo
so much like the foo fighters, just a big shame about nirvana they could have been the biggest band in the world, what are we left with now the killers haha wonder what kurt would have thought of them
@themdamnwheaties dave didnt sell out, signing on a major label dosnt mean you sell out, dave was writing foo fighters songs like february stars while he was in nirvana and when kurt died he went on and did very well for himself playing what he wanted to play, just saying
sort of... the only song he has full credit for (I think) that was for Nirvana. He wrote a lot of Foo Fighter/Pocketwatch demo songs while in Nirvana and received partial credit on other nirvana songs (e.g. the drum part and guitar riff for Scentless Apprentice).
@CoQ10z Dave also wrote and recorded the main guitar riff for Scentless Apprentice...Nirvana had such a kick ass future in store for them...ugh I wish Kurt was still around..
@CoQ10z No I'm sure he wrote alot during that period, Friend Of A Friend comes to mind. Remember Dave launched the Foo Fighters a year after Kurt died.
@CoQ10z Well, he actually wrote a lot of songs during that time (some released on the tape LP "Pocketwatch", which is pretty cool, and others would end up on the first Foo Fighters records, but this is the only one he wrote and recorded with Nirvana.
@CoQ10z I'm not talking about Foo Fighters. Dave contributed a lot more to Nirvana than you think. As a matter of fact, that was a serious issue between Cobain and Grohl.
I've read alot about Nirvana and I've NEVER read anything about that being an issue. In fact, Kurt would have welcomed Dave or Krist contributing more to Nirvana songs like they did with Scentless Apprentice. Kurt felt pressure writing most of the Nirvana songs out there. Working together would have alleviated the pressure. Next thing you're going to tell me is that Courtney Love wrote some Nirvana songs, too.
@CoQ10z Smells Like Teen Spirit for one. Scentless Apprentice for another. Do more research on conflict between Cobain and Grohl. Also, Love never wrote anything. Cobain and Michael Stipe wrote "Live Through This". I have been listening to Nirvana since '89 there is plenty of info out there. A good site is justiceforkurt . com but there are plenty of sources out there. Another interesting piece of info is that Grohl used to sleep with Love, who used to sleep with everyone including Corgan.
@UNSUNGBAND I mentioned Scentless Apprentice. Teen Spirit is common knowledge. Aneurysm is another one all three members wrote, TOGETHER. The only conflict that I know of between Kurt and the other members was Kurt's heroin problem and the royalties from the Nevermind album. I read about all of that. I really don't about Courtney and her sleeping around, personally.
The point I'm trying to make is that Marigold is the ONLY Grohl composed song Nirvana ever officially released, period.
@CoQ10z You right my dude im read everthing bout them .. there was no yelling or debatin with kurt and dave ..in fact ... Dave woulld let kurt do watever he wanted... jus lik Kurt wood let dave do wat he wanted ... Your right mydude ( You know your right you know your right hhh t LOLOl)
