The house in the background is the "Maison Queens Own Rifles" the first building liberated by Canada on D Day. Liberated by the Queens Own Rifles stationed out of Toronto. This is a famous house seen in many pictures of WW2. I was lucky enough to take a Juno Beach Tour in July 2009 and this was a stop on the tour. You can still see places where the house has been repaired from the shelling of D Day. God Bless the Queens Own Rifles out of Toronto, brave young men.
