  • I only discovered 2 out of 6 special animations on the Henson Google Doodle. The red one with the glasses and the thin one that stands for L.

  • hey, were can i watch this logo ? :D

  • oh is that what the google logo was supposed to be

  • jim henson was the man. feel free to watch YOU SYMBOLIZE HOPE

  • Fuck google

  • Well, it's unfortunate that the other 3 animations were never implemented (fixed?).

I guess it's possible that they were never "found" through some kind of secret input process, but I find that unlikely, given that the other 3 just required one to wait 5 seconds.

  • hes the greatest

  • so where's the link to the doodle?

  • I wanted to go and work for Jim Henson's Creature Shop when I was a kid....

  • i literally spent an hour doing this:0-

  • When does it go live?

  • @StackCityEntOfficial It's already come and gone

  • I had been to The Museum of The Moving Image in Astoria, NY just last Saturday, there was an amazing exhibit there of Jim Henson's artistry ... If love this, I highly recommend going there to see it if you have the chance. Happy Birthday, Jim ... I am still looking for the Rainbow Connection. I hope you will be there when I do.

  • Where can I find this?

  • Happy Birthday Jim Henson!

Go on my channel to see my newest video, "The Muppets" in stop-motion. It features the songs, "Rainbow Connection", "Muppet Show Theme", "It's Not Easy Bein' Green", "Together Again" and more! It took over 5,000 pictures.

  • Happy Birthday, Jim Henson! Wish you were still here.

  • That is an INCREDIBLE albino lion puppet! How was it created?

  • This makes me so happy! Thanks Google for trying it again and uber-thanks to the Henson folks. I can't stop smiling!

  • in google chrome right click on the purple g and select view in new window.

you will see the first g as well and if you add a "a" in 4g.png there is a new animation.

  • Click on each puppet for 5 seconds to see hidden animations. ;)

  • Jim Henson died on May 16, 1990, just 2 days before the 21st season of "Sesame Street" ended.

  • Is it just me, or does this seem like a lot for a doodle...?

  • @mythik5000 you mean i help get things started

  • @mythik5000 Any idea how they get the PNG to look as if it's a video? Or any tutorial online how to play a PNG?

  • @mythik5000 Umm I tried to look for them but it said that the URL wasn't found on the server :/

  • @TheLegoAce For some reason the info I listed doesn't copy & paste correctly. If you fix it up manually though, after trying to connect to the animation, it should work.

  • Man...how freaking lucky were we, as a society, that someone as creative as Jim Henson gave us such an incredible gift as the muppets, puppetry, animatronics and so on? And then he gave us the Muppet show, The Storyteller, Dark Labyrinth, Dark Crystal etc etc.

While I admire Henson's company using digital and traditional methods, I hope they do not abandon the traditional puppeteering. It's just too awesome.

  • @yellowcougar18 With every project Jim Henson work on, he was constantly pushing the envelope, finding ways to perform that had never been accomplished before. He even created his first CGI Muppet, Waldo C. Graphic, capable of being manipulated in real-time like any other Muppet. But he never forgot his roots, he never put away all those felt puppets that helped make him a household name. I hope his kids, and his company never forget that too.

  • @Akira625 Let us not forget the CGI owl in the opening of Labyrinth. Guy was constantly out to push himsself at his craft.

    Flipping genius.

  • @yellowcougar18 I agree; everything's too digital now. I know making fleece and foam puppets may not be as environmentally friendly as CGI puppets, but Jim Henson really did create a new form of visual and theatrical art when he created the Muppets-style of puppeteering! And I for one would be heartbroken if my kids didn't get to see the Sesame Street family as Jim Henson intended them to be; fuzzy, furry, and (relatively speaking) as real as you and me :)

  • @yellowcougar18 Jim Henson didn't create puppetry or animatronics. I'm fairly confident that Jim would think that you are overstating some of his accomplishments. Sure, he was awesome, but he don't spout gibberish about how he invented things that were invented thousands of years ago by the Greeks and probably even before that.

  • @HoboSuperstar True, but he thought outside the box with it. He saw that kids and adults loved puppetry equally. He pushed it forward, also, in terms of making these puppets into characters, with individual personalities, and. We know Kermit and Ms Piggy's, etc personalities. And unusually, he created a half hour show that relied, in the majority, on puppets, not actors. Usually there would be a shared responsibility, between humans and actors, but he focused on puppets, with one actor.

  • @yellowcougar18 don't forget Fraggle Rock!!

  • @RockytheAwesome Heck Yeah!!!

  • OMG...that puppet eating the other puppet caught me by surprise. It cracked me up.

  • The two easter eggs:

Click on the first "o" and wait.

Click on the "l" and wait.

  • I almost crapped myself vwhen the E ate the L.

  • GREAT....WORKS...EVER.... Jim...Henson..ROCKZ!

  • i have made the red one eat the green one :D

  • Actually now there are two more easter eggs...

  • 1:18 Joseph Gordon-Levitt's secret twin brother!

  • @brzydallo Naaah, he looks more like the guy who played Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

  • the puppet's glasses flip if you move the mouse around him

  • I clicked teh "L" and made him look away from the "E". Once the Jim Henson 75th Birthday link loaded, the "E" attacks the "L". I could only make him do it once, then I had to hit refresh.

  • oi.henson

  • He wouldn't have died if he'd gotten medical attention.

  • That lion looks so real! does anybody know what show that clip is from?

  • @firecoroner The Jim Henson Hour.

  • i wana download the jim henson muppets google doodle !!! loved sesame street and still do :D

  • Happy Birthday Jim ! .. Thanks for all the Joy ! :) ~ CHJ

  • Is it true that in order to get the muppet show on air Jim hensen had to offer TV producers, photos of Gonzo in compromising position with Ralph the dog.

  • Thanks for creating this Google Doodle, FUN!

  • my childhood wouldn't have been the same without him. happy birthday Jim!

    --

and also, what else do those faces do?

  • only th first "O" and the 'L' have special animations.

that sucks why not make special animations for every letter? its only 6 of them u lazy fucks....

  • @Drunkefox hey it does, i got it on E

  • @lalasusu the E and the L has the same animation

  • This is too fun to not keep. They should adapt the idea to the Henson website.

  • blekh, her voice is crackly, I can't stand it. she croaks half her vowels, because she's trying to talk lower than her comfort zone, trying to sound "authoritative", "serious".

  • Who here used it on Mahna Mahna?

  • what a piece of corporate bumpf.....sad, why does everything have to be scripted...you can see their eyeballs moving as they read the autocue.

  • @inprekorr To make it look professional

  • I figured out how to make the far Right one eat the long green one.Press the hand on the long green one then, put your curser

to the right of the far right one and make the green one bounce up and down over the right ones head. He will get annoyed and eat the green one :)

  • ..hey a...creative video..i liked it very much ...i just wanted 2 know..that which software did u use to create such an amazing video

    .

    .

  • Masters salute master

  • We miss you much Mr. Henson...Thank you always for your top notch entertainment.

  • Don't get me wrong computer puppetry is good in it's own right. I don't care for it myself, but it is no way near it's original workings in true art form.

  • What a great tribute. He left us way too early and it's a loss. To this day his puppets live on. I own the Muppet Show and Sesame Street DVDs and my birds are named Ernie and Bert!

  • Comment removed

  • Also, /logos/2011/henson11-hp-6ea-lr.png

That's the file showing the animation for the l coming back after being eaten (I guess lr stands for "l returns" or something)

  • Putting your chin on the mouse and making them open their mouths as you talk ;)

  • ITS CHUCK NORRIS!

  • Comment removed

  • Happpy Birthday Jim!! :D One of the last true geniuses of our time!! :))

  • too bad that his creations are in hands of another companies, like The Walt Disney Company and Sesame Workshop >:(

  • @abrahamWCE Well, Jim had always intended to give/share the Muppets with the Walt Disney Company. He was going to merge his company with Disney sometime during 1990 but his death halted the process.

  • how do you do the animations??

  • Happy Birthday Jim, a big fan of your shows and animated movies. Awesome :)

  • I found out how to make red eat green as well

I have a video on my channel

  • Happy birthday, Jim... You're still loved and missed by millions worldwide. We still cherish your work.

  • Hey guys, I've figured out how to make the red one eat the green one. Select the green one, press and hold the left mouse button to make him open his mouth, and then wave your cursor left and right under the red and green monsters until the animation begins.

  • @IcecubeApocalypse Aww. Beat me to it. :) You don't have to wave the cursor, though. If you just make him stare at the green one, he'll eat him.

  • @IcecubeApocalypse

    Ahhh I adore you

  • I think what we are supposed to do with the google doodle IS to make our own muppet show

  • Awesome Job? that was a lot of fun to play with.

  • HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY JIM HENSON! :)

  • i found out how to do most of them if you wanna see the vid goto /watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0&feature=fvst and feal free to leave a comment ^_^

  • "We're super excited..." - ah, a happy nerd!

  • if no sound is meant to play with each click its pretty lame. i thought it was broke. also, anyone figured out the special animations ?

  • @preecejon I have only figured out one of them and if you move your mouse sideways fast across the one with glasses it will toss the glasses in the air

  • @Antarticfire0 pretty cool :)

  • Happy Birthday! Thanks Google Job well done, and Thank you Mr Henson for making the Muppets Miss Piggy was my favorite. :)

  • Hmmm. They said patient Puppeteers can make them do additional things. I think that may mean time released. I'll check back tomorrow.

  • happy bday jim

  • (we're supposed to make the sounds with our voices WE ARE PUPPETEERS!)

  • @DarthLoI Precisely!

  • well that sucks. why not at least have each making a note on a scale, would be more fun that way. do puppeteers always make the voices? @DarthLoI

  • @preecejon Got another one although you might have to refresh to get it to work, click "e" the red guy, now move your mouse right under the video link just under the black bar so he is staring at the "l"

then just tap space bar as fast as you can until he eats the "l"

  • @Antarticfire0 I LOVE YOU

  • @QIsForK12 you can also do it by having green just stare at red so thats three down, three to go

  • I am now an official puppeteer

  • the tall green one is the most amazing thing I have seen all day, I love it and I don't know why. him and the dark red one should get their own show.

  • I don't think there's meant to be any sound.

  • it sucks. all they do is open their mouth with keyboard arrows or mouse, turn their head and the first 'o' throws his glasses up in the air.

anybody else made it do other things?

  • @cassetteplayersrule3 i know what they do but idk how to do it

  • I spent like 2 hours trying to get that one red dude to eat the green skinny guy

  • @ledzeppelinisgoood there is no sound

  • forget Metallica...

Jim Henson is the true MASTER OF PUPPETS!

  • I'm using chrome and I tried IE9 but there isn't any sound?

  • Happy birthday ! jim XD

  • Yup don't use IE or chrome...

  • How about making it work? I can't get it to work under Firefox, IE, OR Chrome!

  • perhaps a new secret will unlock each day its up?

This must be the case as it doesn't seem like anyone else here can work it out.

  • it's fun to play a song while on the doodle and make them look like they're singing it lol

  • @MadMetalSlayer1134 LOL. that's what I was just doing. so bored

  • @MadMetalSlayer1134 lol i thought i was the only one XD

  • i know what _oog_e do

  • @Megapow78 What do they do? What did you do?

  • i figured it out

  • @Megapow78 I'm pretty sure there are no other secrets. Looking at the comment by @youtornado there are four sprites for the animation; however only one of those appears in the source code.
