  • @KDowner94

    Good ringing is good ringing.

  • :-)

  • Niiiice!! Bells in the same notes (G, A and H) are in the "Evangelische Kirche" in Monschau. All bells are old (I think 17th to 18th century when the church was builded) and sounding really good because they restored a few years ago.

  • 38 minutes for a quarter seems excessively fast for bells like this lol

  • the other two ringers have at least 80 three bell quarters under their belts! Me, I was happy to have a nice slow quarter here but Matt wanted to tank. We went faster and faster, until we went too fast, and then we slowed down again to the point was it was good ringing. The locals stayed in the church and watched us for a long time, some of the handling was a bit... unorthodox.

  • @irkibby In my only 3 bell quarter so far, a local watched us for a bit too. I tenored in 42 minutes, 5cwt, and that was a comfortable, enjoyable sedate pace...the ringing wasn't brilliant but it was much better than when it raced away at the start.

  • @louisisyourgod I agree. 2nd ringer mentioned to tenor ringer that these bells were slow turning and heavy. To the tenor ringer this was like a red rag to a bull. Hence rather fast time.

  • The ropes are very long! how do they go?!?!

  • @1BODGER95

They go well, but they go slowly. the wheels are huge. the tenor rope looks like it belongs to a bell of about 20cwt

also you have not noticed that I give the stay a whack. diligence boy!!!

  • I quite like them, the ropes are extremely long! Is the tenor ringer checking out your rear view at 42s?

  • The ropes were rudiculous. should have put a massive knot in it I ended up with a coil for most of it and even then ended up rabbing 6 inches above the sally and sliding a hand down to the backstroke and doing all sorts of agricultural things. Having long arms did not help one bit either. well it did help give me some nice blisters.

I am still trying to work out why Matt appears to be looking at my arse. He is in fact straight.

  • @irkibby they all say that. Perhaps it is so good that even straighties can't resist a peek?

  • good lord!

  • @irkibby just a theory. I know someone who is 100% straight but thinks a certain male ringing friend of mine is gorgeous and has beautiful arms... in those words. But 100% straight, of course.
