My dual-core XP SP3 with graphic card isn't working out too pretty with any sandbo x function.... Any suggestion? Not at a position to upgrade to any Apple desktop or laptop yet...
@naiabeau probably not. i think you just have to go to your SketchUp Preferences window and check all of the boxes in the Extensions pane. The toolbars for Sandbox, etc. should then be available to you via the View > Toolbars menu.
Once placed into the "Plug-ins" Folder; you will find it via a "Right-Click" after entity selection. You must first select both the trees and the terrain mesh; then the R/C for "Drop @ Intersection"
how come when i do the stamp tool, it always has to have an offset (ie 1")? I don't want any offset, and I can't select 0"!! why would i want it to be angled?
The tutorial is good BUT, PLEASE keep the camera on the pc. For example, at 2:45 the guy said "I can click on the top view to SEE the plan resting on top of the terrain..." I can't see a thing. Please keep in mind, you might be experts, but we out here are rookies.
Is the stamp tool also effective if you used the from contour tool? because its not functioning when i tried it. it doesnt push or pull the stamp on the terrain.
yes. the trick for that is to just stamp both of the terrains arbitrarily, then go back and move the flat, stamped faces and align them specifically using the move tool. top: use the up arrow tool to lock the blue axis inference while you're moving the flat, stamped faces.
i cant get to follow the tree instances, i created about 15 individual components (circles) to drape over terrain. I tried to add a tree sample from the list to 1 of them and it doesnt simultaneaosly put trees on all my components ? just one. Each circle is indentical and names the same. I also want to create a "skirt" an extension of the terrain to add some thickness, its looks silly floating like a piece of paper. how is that possible ? any ideas / thks
yep. right click on the terrain and select the option for edit group. then paint the road. the only other trick is that the road would have to be a separate surface. sometimes the drape tool can be a bit weird. if you're having trouble getting it to work properly you might want to scale the terrain model op by a factor of 10x, then drape the road, then scale the terrain back down by a factor of 0.1x. sometimes that works better.
that sounds like a technical problem with SKP. you might either try to re-install SKP, or send an email to tech support with your compy specs and see if they have any suggestions.
This was a great tutorial! Do you have any ideas or tutorials on how to effectively model roadways that follow contours? That is to say that a set cross section of the road only follows the blue axis of the contours. In the above example, the roadway is the contour. However, that isn't an acceptable practice in roads of the physical world. Thanks
it's possible, but it's tricky. with a 500 character limit, i don't think i've got room to type up the ideas. but we'll keep it in mind as an idea for future episodes of the show.

Does the house have to fully drawn first, or can I just do the base and after putting it on my terrain continue to pull up?

Tutorials are quite coll, but I can be very grateful when there will be some subtitles attached to it.
Then it can be better for other-languages-speaking SketchUp users to translate into their language.
Im Polish.

google drop.rb - one of the results will lead you to the page on the Ruby library depot where you can download the script.

How do you get the sandbox toolbar? I can't find it -.-
Blamango 3 years ago
first go to:
window > preferences > extensions > and check the box next to 'sandbox tools'
The sandbox tools should show up automatically. if they don't, go to view > toolbars > and check the sandbox tools
