I came across this "Violent Shakes " Online and I was interested because I happen to have baby relatives ,so I wanna know everything I can to protect them, I wanna learn about this "Shakes" but it seems that getting into details is a little scary for most....

My neighbours baby was shaken by his father when she was days old. At four, he had the mental ability of a one year old. He doesn't talk or give hugs but he can show SOME emotion. He went to a normal school. His dad only got two years for what he did to him - he's taken his life away from him.

this video hit me right in the heart. 16 years ago on october 9th my sister was killed of shaken baby syndrome. and i cant stress to new parents enough of how important it is to just set your child down and walk away. its a baby let it cry. thats what babys do. they cant function on your own. there just babys. i wish this would just stop.

As a child grow older his or her neck muscles will develop and become stronger so that they will be able to control their head better. In a newbord baby there are many things that aren't fully developed. You'll never see a very young infant share it's own head when playing. They are not stable enough to sit upright and certainly not shake their own head. Also, as aznchicprincess says, a child isn't strong enough to shake it's head that violently.
The sad thing about it is that when people get put away for doing something like this they some how manage to not be locked up for long. I don't get it!

Parents and ppl watching over a child have to remember that a baby cant die from crying but they can die from shaken baby syndrome, sometimes its better just to walk away and let them cry
Most of the time it is the parent or boyfriend...it's not just a matter of not leaving your children with babysitters, but making sure everyone knows not to shake a baby. There are actually "crying baby hotlines" you can call to ask questions, help you sort through your thoughts, see if there's a reason the baby is crying, or just to talk to to help you calm down. Just saying before you go, "DON'T SHAKE MY BABY" is a huge step in itself
