its obvius such claims like the one by Megameaty are results of a misconception. they take what they read about the basic version of the mig and compare it to f15e or block 52 f16. the newer versions are at least on par with the newest falcon variant. same is true for the newer flankers compared to eagles.
a mig 29a would be last against an f16c bl52. but a mig 29m or even a mig35. the odds are drifting to the russians.

The mig29 has low quality manufacturing and no logistics/ infrastructure support comparable to Western planes. And it has a poor safety record considering its low service time. The Su37 was rejected and F15E variant selected because of logistics/support reasons. The Su37 was simply not good enough thus rejected. F15 has excellent combat record and support infra,Su30 doesn't.
Also only Country in the world that US sale complete Licence for F-15 is ISRAEL.And for F-16 is ISRAEL and TURKEY!

Building one-off prototypes is not the same as deploying a full series of products which must be interconnected by a stable and extensive infrastructure. There was a single Su37 prototype present at a local large-scale airshow and it was rejected since it was no match to the F15E. Singapore has a slightly more advanced version. Anyway, which First World industrialised nation uses the mig29/su30? Even the former Eastern Bloc countires are switching to F16/Gripen.
F-15C with AN/APG-63(V)2 AESA radar have range of 125 mile,can Track 14 targets and engage 6 target with export AIM-120B AMRAAM mach 4 missiles with max 9g,with 48Km range.
Russians however export R-77,mach 4.5 missiles,with range of 90km,also max G is 12+!
For Russian army they used R-77 with range of 120km and new Ramjet Mach 6+ version with proposed range over 180km?

We have already seen the photos from Russian mig 29 factories etc...it is far below Western standards where factories have to conform to strict national/international standards and are audited on a regular basis. Most robots are manufactured in Asian countries and not Russia. I guess you haven't seen real industry/factories yet.
M16 variants work very well not only under dust but also under much worse and harsh conditions. For example,my service rifle worked much more reliable than most AKs in service. Videos are just videos;it is the management/quality control system supported by decades of expertise that matters. We see Asian robots but no Russian ones in the market. Come and see what a real industry is.

The F4D is completing 40+ years of service this year,20 of which without any single accident. And that with more than 150 flight hours each year. The mig 29 was introduced 20 years ago,flew much less yearly still most airframes won't fly due to corrosion. The Eastern European countries are changing to Gripen and F-16,as it should be because they are more cost-effective and combat proven.
Russia does not have the necessary industry infrastructure. Just a few aircrafts is not all. Russia has no system integration industry, semiconductor manufacturing industry etc. A wide array of industry sectors is required to maintain a military(ours costs over $20 billion yearly). Besides, the mig 29 is literally hand stitched as shown by recent photos while Western aircraft are manufactured according to stringent quality control practices.
It was not the radar malfunctions that were the problem. The mig 29 was designed as a point defense interceptor to shoot down bombers and thus much like the F104,but the opposite way-only effective at very low speeds. Another problem is very poor manufacturing quality. The F4D,however, is completing 40+ years of successful service this year.
Most likely the mig 29 will break up midair due to airframe corrosion. Even if it survives, it will rapidly lose energy after turns due to its aerodynamics optimized for very low speeds. I saw its performance envelope in the early '90s;nothing suggested it is generally better than the f4E(which survived 12G with minor damages).
12G just like Mig-15,but that is Maximal mesures,normal is 7,5+G for F-4 and 9+G for Mig-29B.

Spain doesn't have an industry infrastructure as strong as ours. Our F4Es are OK with maintenance issues solved by local industry(even if it becomes costly). Their main role is air-ground anyway.Modern F4Es have better avionics/radar/missiles than the mig29s in service. Our F4Es will be replaced if the F15Es are all deployed as planned.

Well I guess it failed. There are thousands of F-18s and F-16s still flying. Around 70% of Russia's MiG-29 fighters unable to fly. This is as of 2009. If that was its mission, it failed.

Most mig29s ever produced cannot fly anymore due to airframe corrosion. Only very few (those for airshow demonstration purposes) have modern equipment while the F-4E in service have modern radars. The mig29 was shot down all the time.

@xxwzaebd Yes, but keep in mind - a great majority, if not all of the countries which have operated the MIG-29, Serbia being an example as you pointed out, have lacked the infrastructure and the ability to maintain and properly service the Fulcrum. Therefore, combat performance against US and NATO forces has been very poor. And to add about Serbia, a majority of their MIG-29s by the time the 99' NATO campaign began had been grounded due to lack of funds. So they were in bad shape.
One thing is true...Americans think they have "proven" their military superiority by using similar aircraft to take out sheepherders riding camels. problems early in production, the vids are here on youtube. The problem with
the radar system is they are a bright radar target, which means a missile launched
from a plane or ship can be 200 miles away to kill them, well out of their radar range.

its obvius such claims like the one by Megameaty are results of a misconception. they take what they read about the basic version of the mig and compare it to f15e or block 52 f16. the newer versions are at least on par with the newest falcon variant. same is true for the newer flankers compared to eagles.
a mig 29a would be last against an f16c bl52. but a mig 29m or even a mig35. the odds are drifting to the russians.

The mig29 is being pahsed out despite not having accumulated many flight hours. The F4D, with much better combat&safety record and flight hours will complete 40+ years of service this year. The F4E will stay in service long after most mig29s.Only the F15E is a viable replacement for the F4E.

First you must to know reason WHY N.A.T.O aircrafts shot down Mig's in Serbia during Kosovo war?
First this is export mig-29B versions,with reduced avionics,and produced in the begining of 80's and than keeped in storage.
Soviet union don't even introduce that inferior version.Secon and most important is that all NATO aircrafts have AIM-120 active guided missiles!Serbian Mig's have R-27R SARH missiles with less range and also Semi active radar homing guidance is less effective.

Germany gave the mig 29s to Poland because they became too costly to maintain. Even Poland is switching to the much more competent F16s. Our air force rejected the Su37(yes I saw the prototype here at a nearby airshow) and chose the much better F15E variant instead; now everyone is happy. Both general public and the pilots were strongly against the Su37 which was simply not good enough. Which First World industrialised nation has Russian jet fighters?None.

The mig29 has low quality manufacturing and no logistics/ infrastructure support comparable to Western planes. And it has a poor safety record considering its low service time. The Su37 was rejected and F15E variant selected because of logistics/support reasons. The Su37 was simply not good enough thus rejected. F15 has excellent combat record and support infra,Su30 doesn't.

The fact is that single weapons are useless without support logistics/infrastructure. Building one-off prototypes is not the same as deploying a full series of products which must be interconnected by a stable and extensive infrastructure. This is the reason why First World countries select Western-made equipment. Their decisionmakers are much more talented than you,thus making the appropriate decisions.

There was a single Su37 prototype present at a local large-scale airshow and it was rejected since it was no match to the F15E. Singapore has a slightly more advanced version. Western countries have operated advanced systems for decades and thus gained related management & logistics know-how which is not a technology issue anyway. Mass production is not "easy task". If that were so simple, Russia would have been capable of establishing a manufacturing industry much stronger than ours within the last few years using their oil dollars. It took our economy 5 decades from the world's poorest country to become the world's manufacturing leader. The US controls most of the export control items anyway.

The only Russian product I have seen was a fighter model kit but ours have been much better and more expensive,just go to the next store.Haven't seen Russian-made chocolate or ice cream either but I see US-made ones every day.

Asian countries. Japan uses older license-manufactured F15s; Korea has a large no.of F15 and F16s. Taiwan has F16s imported from the US back in the '90s. Even European jet planes need US-made semicon components. And US-amde engines are much more powerful,advanced and efficient that European engines.

We have already seen the photos from Russian mig 29 factories etc...it is far below Western standards where factories have to conform to strict national/international standards and are audited on a regular basis. M16 variants work very well not only under dust but also under much worse and harsh conditions. For example,my service rifle worked much more reliable than most AKs in service. Videos are just videos;it is the management/quality control system supported by decades of expertise that matters. We see Asian robots but no Russian ones in the market. Come and see what a real industry is.

The F4D is completing 40+ years of service this year,20 of which without any single accident. And that with more than 150 flight hours each year. The mig 29 was introduced 20 years ago,flew much less yearly still most airframes won't fly due to corrosion. The Eastern European countries are changing to Gripen and F-16,as it should be because they are more cost-effective and combat proven.

Russia does not have the necessary industry infrastructure. Just a few aircrafts is not all. Russia has no system integration industry, semiconductor manufacturing industry etc. A wide array of industry sectors is required to maintain a military(ours costs over $20 billion yearly). Besides, the mig 29 is literally hand stitched as shown by recent photos while Western aircraft are manufactured according to stringent quality control practices.

It was not the radar malfunctions that were the problem. The mig 29 was designed as a point defense interceptor to shoot down bombers and thus much like the F104,but the opposite way-only effective at very low speeds. Another problem is very poor manufacturing quality. The F4D,however, is completing 40+ years of successful service this year.

Most likely the mig 29 will break up midair due to airframe corrosion. Even if it survives, it will rapidly lose energy after turns due to its aerodynamics optimized for very low speeds. I saw its performance envelope in the early '90s;nothing suggested it is generally better than the f4E(which survived 12G with minor damages).

Spain doesn't have an industry infrastructure as strong as ours. Our F4Es are OK with maintenance issues solved by local industry(even if it becomes costly). Their main role is air-ground anyway.Modern F4Es have better avionics/radar/missiles than the mig29s in service. Our F4Es will be replaced if the F15Es are all deployed as planned.

For your information,MiG-29B version airframe service life is 2500 hours,F-4 lifespan is rated as 2300 hours.New Mig-29SMT lifespan due new composite materials and modifications are increased to 4000+ Hours! INDIA modified their entire fleet to that Airframe standard becouse INDIA want to use them for next 40 Years?
For New Mig-35,Lifespan expectation is to 6000 Hours?

Most mig29s ever produced cannot fly anymore due to airframe corrosion. Only very few (those for airshow demonstration purposes) have modern equipment while the F-4E in service have modern radars. The mig29 was shot down all the time.

The mig29 downed NOTHING in 1999 but was downed by such US aircraft. The US only lost one F117 and one F16,both to SAM not Yugoslav jets. The Mig-29SM is an old mig29 with ground strike weapon wiring and roughly equal to an F-4D. I know where the export mig 29's radar comes from after all. The mig29 is no match against an F4(which has APG65/IRIS-T/AIM120 BTW).

The mig29 NEVER managed to shot down a US-made jet fighter and never will. The average F4E in service has better avionics/maintenance/armament than a mig 29 in service. The mig 29 shot down NOTHING in Srpska. Bosnia never had a mig 29; so it would mean that a mig 29 violated Bosnian airspace Then it would have been shot down anyway bu US fighters, as it happened later. The mig 29 cannot shoot down anything except unarmed propeller aircraft as evidenced by past history. However,one F15E can shoot down 10 mig 29s in one sortie, by using both on-board cannon and missiles.

@xxwzaebd Yes, but keep in mind - a great majority, if not all of the countries which have operated the MIG-29, Serbia being an example as you pointed out, have lacked the infrastructure and the ability to maintain and properly service the Fulcrum. Therefore, combat performance against US and NATO forces has been very poor. And to add about Serbia, a majority of their MIG-29s by the time the 99' NATO campaign began had been grounded due to lack of funds. So they were in bad shape.

One thing is true...Americans think they have "proven" their military superiority by using similar aircraft to take out sheepherders riding camels. But there are far more worthy adversaries in the world. Americans would not be so enamored of war if we were fighting someone who matched our level of equipment and technology.

Downgraded has nothing to do with it, its all about the pilot and prefromance of the plane not elctronics, and the F-15 was not as advanced as the ones today either. American F-16's have Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) with the aim-9x, that is gonna fuck up any mig-29. Also we have the Raptor and soon
the F-35 so that wont be a threat.

Don't forget the S-400 Air Defence System. Has almost 3 times the range of the American Patriot MiM system and can detect all modern 5th Gen stealth fighters such as the F-35 and F-22. Russia clearly has air superiority and only naive, biased and brainwashed westerners believe the opposite.

The F-22 is a pure failure on all levels, it breaks apart in mid-air, requires 32 hours of maintainence for every 1, 2 hours of flight, has massive structural defects such as cracks in the aft booms and engine castings, it costs more than 3 4th gen. fighters, and more than 2 4th gen. fighters with 5th gen. upgrades
