Iceland - Strange Lights Over Katla Volcano and Earthquake Swarm 2/11/2010

have you seen the photo of a high wave frozen in action?!! Its several feet high & not doubt something quite fantastic or horrifying froze it before it even started on its way down! Its on youtube. Believe you can see it by searching "frozen wave artic". The color of the water frozen in this wave is quite beautiful. Spectacular to see! Thez lights look like the aurora borealis in black & white. Very strange indeed...thanks for sharing & bringing this to our attention. God be wyou always!

Katla typically has more earthquakes in September-October and generally more than normal in November, before it calms down. Earthquakes on the western flank, outside the Caldera rim near Godabunga are known to be related to the glacier as they occur within the uppermost kilometer usually. If any happen in the caldera then that's something more interesting.

The latest Katla has erupted after Eyjafjallajokull has been 18 months so theres still plenty of time for this monster to erupt!

the first light, it's called the northern lights. it can be seen on every clear sky at night.

I'm from iceland. There's absolutely nothing going on. the lights you're looking at are probably trucks on their way over the glacier. the increased earthquake activity is normal in the fall and beginning of the winter, it's not some activity under the glacier, it's the glacier itself.

Now that is somewhat alarming having seen that in one of my dreams. Those lights are more than what they appear to be but are also spirits as the pit is opening up.

doesn't it just figure that it is down today.... i remember when eyjafjallajokull was erupting there was talk of military ops going on and that is why the flights were really stopped ... who knows ...we live in a crazy world now ...finished the bot report by the way...*-*
