  • I have seen over on the Saiga 12 Forum. Quick question! Does the Saiga 12 take the same folding rear trunnion as an AK47/74? Where did you find your front latch? It takes a special one right?

  • @HarleyF250guy

Yes, this was a 5.5mm Russian triangle folder and trunnion from KVar. Some are clearnaced at the top of the forks of the trunnion for a Saiga 12 carrier and some are not and required some grinding/filing. The front latch is Saiga 12 specific and I got all of mine from AK Builder, but he has not had them in stock for a while now. Contact Cobra's Custom. He may have the whole kit except the retaining clip. Hit me up at saiga.12.com.

  • OK. I have FINALLY found the ultimate world takeover weapon. Who needs nukes?

  • @bluestudio67 The Russians have a lot more of these Saigas than you do... And theirs are full auto...

  • @NosferatusDragula

I have only tried it once with a Saiga 12 and didn't do very well. Couldn't seem to get more than 3 shots off at a time. I may revisit it.

  • I should buy one of these for when the zombies take over, but i'm gonna need a lot of those magazines and about 1000 rounds.. :D

  • that would be a sick duck hunting gun lol

  • please explain your technique when pulling the trigger. alot of us would like to know how to make our saigas run like that.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

I couldn't do it without the trigger work that I have done. It is extremely smooth and light. I also shortened the travel to the break. It takes me a couple hours to perfect one.

Are you asking about the "fanning" that I am doing when bent over? If so, I just stick my finger in the trigger guard "stiff" and "fan" my arm (kind of like when someone eats something that is hot, lol).

  • @evlblkwpnz well, the smooth trigger makes sense. You possess a skill of working the s12 that i do not have.

And no, not the fanning. You are able to preform that without, "any testicle being harmed the in the production of this video". I, on the other hand, would give new meaning to the phrase, "did somebody hurt your grapes? (matching in both size and color.)"

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

I have seen a few "pro" trigger jobs on AKs and Saiga 12s and I have never seen a trigger job that goes into as much detail as I do. I do it because I want that particular trigger to be excellent. The "pros" do it to make the trigger "better" and make some money for the little bit of time they spend on it. I was never taught how to do it. I just stared at the trigger and how it interacted with the hammer and figured it all out.

  • @evlblkwpnz I see. You probably have more than one s12 then. For the crisp firing you do, its appropriate, but for me, trigger pull isnt that bad when it comes to a shotgun.

Do you work on anything else on the saiga platform? I had quick question regarding getting an ak mag to fit in my 7.62x39 rifle.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

Figure out exactly where the trigger releases the hammer when you pull it (the break). Figure out exactly how far forward you must let the trigger go forward to reset. If you can make a habit of doing this, you will be able to use minimal travel and effort mamnipulating the trigger, which = speed.

Sounds like you need a bullet guide...

    Check your PMs....

  • best way to spend 3 min and another 10 loading all the shells

  • @lpg1024

    +1

  • сайга рулит!!!

  • well i don't exactly "know what i'm doing" (referring to vid description) when it comes to making my saiga 12 fire this awesome... winchester shells are the worst too.

I haven't converted mine yet, not just cause of cash but trying to research and get ideas on how to make it awesome, like this video.

  • @emwaver

What year is yours? The year is the first two numbers of the serial number.

  • @emwaver

.... and thank you for the compliment. I work very hard at my workbench to make these weapons run like this. Not to mention the money spent on all of this stuff. About $50 went up in smoke in a matter of minutes in this video. Not counting the "hell raising fee" at the range, lol!

  • @kyleelliott90

    Hell yeah

  • how's that shoulder?

  • @falloutforever88

    Previous answer to that question....

Not sure why, but it never bothers me. Most people that do 12ga sessions with me end up getting bruised significantly. I usually bring 400-500 rounds, but the most that I have shot in one day was 800. Still.... no bruises.

    evlblkwpnz 3 weeks ago

  • @evlblkwpnz heh, you're tougher than I am

  • @falloutforever88 while the 12 gauge round has large recoil in general, the bulk winchester univeral is relatively low powered to the other rounds, like buckshot or slugs. Its really nice, actually, because with the s12 being semi auto, most of the energy is being used to cycle the gun, with even less energy for recoil. So no, it would rarely, if ever bruise.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

I don't know. Maybe you and I are just a bit tougher than most. Most of the people that I go with end up bruising after an afternoon of it.

  • @evlblkwpnz well no, i dont want to throw on that macho image that men typically get when it comes to recoil or guns. Maybe its your stock, its nice, but the hollow ones tend to beat on people (dont get me wrong, it looks nice, and it's probably side folding, which is awesome as well). This probably contributes, i dunno. (i kept mine stock from the factory). it hurts to shoot slugs for a while. just not winchester universal.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

I had never considered that it might be the stock. Almost every Kalashnikov I have has a triangle folder on it. Maybe I'm just used to them. The Romanian sidefolders are even more punishing though. The rounded bottom of it even makes me cringe a little, lol. I tried one on my first Saiga 12.... for one session. The triangle folder feels great compared to the Romy.

  • @evlblkwpnz How did you get your saiga? From the factory? If so, most (depending on your model) come with a plain jane shotgun stock, like on an 870 express, no pistol grip. Just a hollow pollymer buttstock. It actually does at great job at holding off recoil.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

It was brand new and I tore it apart, did a reliability service on it, riveted Bulgarian AK trigger guard, and AK100 conversion on it. The recoil doesn't bother me and I love these triangle folders. I have a box full of those "Sporter" stocks that I have been meaning to throw away. They sadden me because they are a direct effect of senseless gun laws. These should enter the country in standard Kalashnikov configuration instead of "neutered".

  • @evlblkwpnz the shotguns sporter stocks are castrated in the sense they aren't tactical, I agree, most guns laws (and especially 922r compliance) are a joke, along with the ATF. Did you mean a low brass reliability kit? This is gonna sound off, but mine actually ran fine out of box 2 months ago with winchester (used to only be able to cycle it with a pump shotgun), and i haven't had 1 ftf yet. But the quality control with izmash is rather off, as you know, and everybody's shotgun is different.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin

I only use factory springs and puck. No low brass reliability parts. Just good old fashioned metalworking. I hear that the '11 models tend to run better due to improved QC. Some run good before returned to the configuration that they were originally designed to be, but not after. Is yours sporter? One of mine ran great before converting and then needed some attention once converted. Pot luck with these....

  • Dood! You have a beast of a trigger finger!

  • @88gibsonsg

Pretty quick, but there are some guys out there that make me seem slow.

I assume you have a SG. I have a '68 SG Special. Cherry with gold hardware.

  • @evlblkwpnz mines solid black with silver hardware. Got it for Christmas 22 years ago. The neck has been broken off but I got that repaired and it still plays like a champ. Did you do the 922r conversion on your Saiga or take it to a gunsmith? Ive been watching videos on the conversion but I'm still leary of doing the conversion myself.

  • @88gibsonsg

My SG was my inheritance from my father, along with a MusicMan amp that cranks. Broke the neck off? Wild night or freak accident?

I do all of the reliability work, trigger work, AK100 stock conversion, and barrel work to mine. I usually tear them down to a receiver and barrel and rework everything. Basic conversions are a piece of cake. The addition of the AK100 stock is out of the realm of most people's abilities though.

  • @evlblkwpnz My brother fell on it. He was learning and I let him borrow it. I was not a happy camper. It ended up being a lucky break where it dove tails into the body and I'd say 90 percent of the dovetail joint was left intact. I had to have the fretboard worked on and the truss rod had to be adjusted. To look at it you'd never think it had never been broken.

You mind if I send you a link of the conversion kit I've been looking at and get your opinion on it?

  • dude i think that might be better than the aa12

  • @ipwnu991

Well, I don;t know about "better", but it is a lot of fun and a lot easier to find. I just sent off a Form 1 for SBS today for one of my other Saiga 12s. I'm excited!

  • Hello. Just for who it may concern, I just purchased this gun today. it is the BEST GUN I HAVE EVER FIRED. tons of fun, and not too bad of a kick. Keep in mind every saiga likes different loads, mine likes cheapo winchester universal. If you have the chance, please consider buying this. I'm fairly sure they'll be classified as a Destructive Device soon (means you'll need a class 3). This is a very solid semi-auto.

  • Fuckin cool, Saiga!

  • How did you shoulder feel after this?

  • @IWModerator

Not sure why, but it never bothers me. Most people that do 12ga sessions with me end up getting bruised significantly. I usually bring 400-500 rounds, but the most that I have shot in one day was 800. Still.... no bruises.

  • @evlblkwpnz in the u.s what do you pay for 800 rounds of good quality ammo not the cheap shit often seen in clips

  • @BRATKOV47KALASHNIKOV

It would be around $600 for 800 rounds of decent slugs. The point with the cheap stuff is to show that these weapons can be reworked to run nearly any ammo. 300 rounds of Universal costs me about $75.

  • @IWModerator

It never bothers me. I'm 6'1'' @ 205, so it doesn't move me much, especially with these light loads. Most people that do 12ga sessions with me end up getting bruised significantly. I usually bring 400-500 rounds, but the most that I have shot in one day was 800. Still.... no bruises. I wouldn't be very good eating for cannibals, lol. Tough old bird....

  • That is my favorite Saiga-12 configuration. Beautiful gun. How often would you say a non-modified Saiga-12 jams? Also, is that stock fold-able?

  • @juggaknot93

Thank you. It is a Russian 5.5mm pin triangle folder.

  • So what did you do to make it fire without jamming? Anything special, or just setting 2 on the gas chamber?

  • @madgameman1

I do a lot of work to them to get them to run like this. I keep the factory springs in them and do it right. I have over 30 hours in this one, including the AK100 stock conversion, reliability mods, and shorten/rethread/crown barrel.

  • Easiest way to blow $40 in 3 minutes. I'd probably do it anyhow.

  • SAIGA 12k's aint no fucking joke.

  • @Mach1Entertainment

Well, it was just a plain old nuetered IZ-109, but I did some work to it and it runs and looks good. It is one of my favorite weapons.

  • Pick up the pace a little man. Reloads are letting it cool off

  • @Reaver1776

Only answer for that is a belt feed system. Hmmmm.... a 1000 round belt, now that would be a torture test.

  • @evlblkwpnz That would be awesome.

  • Sweet. Now do it with XX magnum!

  • @themaxx69

Give me some and I'll shoot a video with all of it. I have 13 drums, so that means I can do up to a 260 round video. Contact me via PM for my address. I'll make sure that I handcuff the cameraman to the correct position and I think that I have some bowling pins that would be great for a visual with some heavier ammo.

  • How did you resist the urge to hipfire while laughing like a megalomania???

  • @sodafdublebareL

I needed to laugh. I may try it next time. Thank you.

  • How far (ft or meters) is the target?

  • @FuckingCameron

They start at around 50 feet and the birdshot will move them to about 100 feet. I never look at the sights.

  • Damn thats whatsup

  • i want this dude on my team

  • Here's a tip, instead of buying the universals.. buy the remington sport loads. They are the same price as the universals at walmart, in a 4 pack for $23. The only difference is the hulls can be reloaded or sold to a reloader for $5-10 per 100. makes it a little cheaper if you can find someone to buy the empty hulls.

  • take a ball cap, steal the threaded piece from your tripod. Screw your camera onto the bill of your hat, close to your forehead. Cheapest POV cam out there. use it all the time for helicopter flying.

  • @Duckyistrippin

Excellent idea. I may try that soon or something similar. Your constructive input is most appreciated. Don't get much of that anymore.

  • @evlblkwpnz no problem...my wife takes the most horrid videos while shooting. i feel your pain. wally world sells otherwise useless tripods for a buck, thats where i got the piece from :)

  • Would have been better if your back wasn't to the camera while firing.

  • @hearsemonkey

I agree. I told the person filming it exactly where to stand, but.... well.... you know. $70 later (ammo/range fees) I have a video of my back, no targets, and no weapon. I would have held the camera myself if I could have ;) There will be another and I will tell the cameraperson that if they do not stand EXACTLY where I say that the next video will be of me smacking them in the head $70 worth. Wait.... why don't you come and hold the camera for me? Are you in NE FL?

  • lol conjured up a dust storm eh? can c it from arizona LOL

  • I am very very curious to know how much cash you had there in those drums and the weapon itself man! I've dropped some coin before but that's dedicated to your long arm.

  • @mikhail718

About 2k for the weapon and mags. A good time is priceless ;)

  • Absolutely beautiful. This is the reason I love the S12 platform so much: the sustained fire capability is almost unparalleled. Nothing other than the AA-12 can touch it - plus us normal folks will never be able to own one. That's just as well for me, long live the S12!

And one day, I hope to get my '12 as badass as yours. Thanks for the vid!

  • @CFOofEVIL

You have an advantage. When I started this in early 2010, a lot of specifics about modding these weapons was very "hush-hush". Now all kinds of info is available from 'closed bolt loading mod' to 'porting specs'. Go slow and never give up. I agree, these weapons are absolutely badass.

  • old man getting a beard ehh

  • @the115project0

Yep, gotta get old sonner or later ;) You'll get there someday. It isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I kinda like it.

  • Cool..did you convert that Saiga yourself?

  • @hermanpotato

Yes, Russian sidefolder and reliability mods as well.

  • @evlblkwpnz did you use a stock ak-74/100 series rear trunnion?

  • @baronbalogh47

    yes. Russian 5.5mm pin

  • @baronbalogh47

    Russian 5.5mm

  • @hermanpotato

I chopped, crowned, and rethreaded the barrel at 18 1/8" too.
