  • Calm down Dave, the stage is pretty damn big, you don't need to worry about having enough SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE

  • I'm seriously confused...

I can't decide which is the best Foo Fighters song

    This decision is impossible...

  • this song is boss

  • what's the tuning for this song cos it sounds really good in drop D

  • @oT0MJHo Don't know, but I assume the whole album is in drop D

  • I'm gonna be there in15 or so days to see The Smashing Pumpkins! Can't wait! Will hopefully be seeing Foo Fighters there next year if they tour :(

  • Nate looks like such a dork when he plays

  • 1:04... and we wonder why he's hoarse in 2011.

  • why is Pat wearing a gimp suit??

  • @oT0MJHo Some people wear sweatpants to feel comfortable, he wears that...i guess

  • Fuck ! Foo Fighters rules !!!! What an energy ! And thumbs up for Pat's Village People dress :)

  • Is that Mr. Slave playing guitar?

  • @vicekennedy23 Haha, yeah it is

  • @JacobWeinberg no!!! it's pat smear!!! :D

  • @feneristege1907 you don't know who mr slave is do you?

  • @negativewierdo i know who mr slave is! :D

sry for my bad english! :)

  • BOUNCE

  • Dave Grohl is Pure! ALWAYS PUNK....Always HARD! STRONG VOICE! HE HAVE NOT CHANGE! HE IS THE SAME! fuckin powerfull thx for this Pure state!

  • what the hell is pat wearing!!He looks like a gay fashion designer!

  • @pankhil2 Lol, yeah...He's not gay, he's just a "fabulous" guitar player ; ) But seriously, I don't remember him saying either way...but its safe say that he's got a unique sense of style. Ultimately, he's a great guitar player and his preference of hot dogs vs tacos shouldn't matter... i like that he's playing with the Foo's.

  • @JacobWeinberg Actually, Pat has a wife and kids. Apparently he's just really really REALLY effeminate.

  • @TheDavmallon lol, cool thanks for the info dude

  • @JacobWeinberg He's a punk legend!!

  • @JacobWeinberg kurt introduced him as a punk legend during their unplugged performance so its cool that he now plays with the Foo's

  • @pankhil2 OLD punk ENGLISH 80's joke

  • @pankhil2 Think pat was going for the Judas Priest look lmao

  • where's Taylor?

  • @wahlespaul If I remember right, this show was in '95 just when the Foo's started touring. William Goldsmith, shown here, was the original drummer. He was good when he drummed with Sunny Day Real Estate. When that band broke up, he & Nate Mendel joined Grohl's solo project since they were part of the Seattle music scene. Goldsmith just wasn't nearly as good of a drummer as Grohl. This tension caused Goldsmith to leave in '97. Grohl's friend, Hawkins, volunteered to be the Foo's next drummer.

  • @JacobWeinberg I see what you mean by Goldsmith not being as good. There is a huge difference between the studio and live versions of this song. Grohl just freakin rocks on drums, and once he's played a song, there's no topping him.

  • @JacobWeinberg exactly! :D

  • @JacobWeinberg Not quite right. Taylor and Dave didn't really know each other. Taylor was playing for Alanis Morrissette's band at the time and they called him for a reference when William left the band (yes, he left...watch 'Back and Forth' and both William and Dave explain it) and Taylor said hell yeah he'd audition.

  • @BigTulsa Cool, thanks for the clarification...

  • @wahlespaul It's a '95 show, older, better, Foo's line-up, he didn't join till '97.

  • @wahlespaul This is before Taylor's time. this is the first drummer.

  • Totally Gay Pat! LOL

  • This gig was ONE day before my BIRTH... how awesome..

  • 5 days and I see these at the Milton Keynes Bowl, then exactly one week after, at T in The Park <3

    My life will be complete

  • @Systemofakillswitch Indeed it will be.

  • @Systemofakillswitch totally saw them at Milton Keynes too :D

  • Love this song, kinda forgot about it though due to all the new awesome albums they bring up BUT THUMBS UP IF YOU YOUTUBED THIS AFTER SEEING IT ON THE FOO DOCO!!??? Fuck yes

  • why so few views!? :(

  • @xxunxnamedxx1 I wish I knew, perhaps most people have awful taste in music...

  • @JacobWeinberg Get more tags and make it a video reponse to a popular video.

  • In the foo fighters movie Dave said that he wrote this song the night before a concert to see the crowd bounce, and it worked!!! What a legend :)

  • 0 dislikes, now thats what im on about!! :D

  • Pat Smear FTW!!

  • fuckin sexy as hell, i love this album, i love foo fighters, dave is fuckin legend <3

  • i have this recorded on vhs :)

  • @RicoD7KURT yeah me too, back in the days that MTV was still cool

  • Thats fucking awesome!

  • 90's crowd...

  • That crowd is the truth, too

  • Anyone else see the references to "Pictures Of Lily" by the Who, or is that just me, idk if I'm pulling stuff outta my ass, but I can't help but think of it.

  • @dloban15 Well, there is a line in this song..."That's when I found Lily" so I guess both songs refer to a "Lily." But honestly, that's the only similarity I hear.

  • i remember when this show was first aired on tv. Still sounds good. this was berfore they went super mainstream and before Dave made his intros to chorus's like "woah yeah here we go",lol

  • @kw2709 lol, yeah dont remember when he started doing the "yeah here we go!!!" or whistle, then does the "here we go!!" but its seems silly to me too.

  • @kw2709 how the fuck is having a relationship with the crowd being "super mainstream" surely if they were "super mainstream" they wouldn't have just made a record in a garage and let everyone hear it for free, and they sure as hell wouldn't play the kick ass rock songs that they still write every year. they may have mellowed down a bit, but thats just maturing as an artist. Also popularity found them.

  • @pipandrew Good point.

  • @pipandrew mainstream is just a label that hipsters put on anything that gets popular. They try so hard to be different from everyone else not realizing that its only making them more like us and that they're unable to develop their own personality.

  • Pat Smear. period.

  • Of course Daves like the best Drummer. And then comes Taylor. But fuck Goldsmith is not a bad Drummer !

  • @TheElephant79 True, he's not bad...but it's for the best that Goldsmith left, the band sounded better once Hawkins joined.

  • @JacobWeinberg

Honestly, Taylor has never been able to reproduce the sound Dave can. Listen to the first 2 albums (drumming by Dave) and listen to Taylor play them. Not near the same.

  • @gunnohd I wonder though, is the difference in drumming due to the drummers or song writing? I mean, the album There is Nothing Left to Lose is mellow compared to The Colour & the Shape. Songs like Monkey Wrench & My Hero seem to have been written to make the drumming the focus of the song. But, Learn to Fly & the rest of that album was a lot more vocal-lyrical focused. Same with One by One, but the drums were more aggressive, like in Low, but Grohl wasn't happy with the sound of that album...

  • The drums in the intro that Dave played on the album are WAAAAAY better than what Goldsmith does here.

  • @Leartiest Yeah seriously, Goldsmith just skipped over it :P

  • William Goldsmith is one of the best rock drummers I've ever seen

  • @MikeAP83 Yup...watching him back in 1995. Unfortunately, Carpal tunnel Syndrome set in a few years later. I lost track of him once Hawkins stepped in.

  • :o

who are the two guys ?

the second guitar player and the drummer.

i've think, that taylor hawkins was the only drummer

    of foo fighters. wow. :o

  • @SamcooStyle Pat Smear (lol) is playing guitar & William Goldsmith is drumming. Pat Smear & Grohl played together in Nirvana just before Cobain's death. William Goldsmith & Nate Mendel played together in the indie rock (emo?) band Sunny Day Real Estate. Sunny Day Real Estate broke up about when Grohl wanted to start touring with the Foo Fighter's first album. They all had connections to Seattle's music scene. Sorry for the quick & dirty history of the band, but I hope I answered your question.

  • Pat Smear FTW

  • not tryin to be an asshole i love dave but he got pretty weak with the foos not nearly as good as the first album he put out that was pure fuckin gold

  • @pot4tots Yeah, i get what you're saying & i agree. In the 80s I was in to metal, punk, and indie shit. Grunge continued with some of that sound, as you can hear in the first Foos album. But the Foos mellowed, so when There is Nothing Left to Lose came out, I was kinda let down. The last half of that album is "soft" if you know what I mean. That's why guitarist Franz Stahl left during its recording. Grohl has a soft side to him that he wants recorded, that's what we have to live with, i guess

  • @JacobWeinberg Franz didn't leave the band during the recording of TINLTL, he was let go before Dave's basement studio was even built. TINLTL is just Dave on vocals, all guitars, and drums, Nate on bass, and Taylor on about six songs.

  • @OldFooFan With a name like "OldFooFan," I have no reason to doubt you ; ) Well, thanks for clearing that up, keeping my facts straight about the Foo Fighter's formative years is a bit confusing. I've the impression of the Foo's at the time was that it was more like Grohl's "project" than a band. Pat, Franz, Goldsmith, & even Nate didn't see a future together at some point and looked to move on to something else. But, you obviously know the truth, i'm wondering if you were there in person : )

  • What a brilliant name for a tour.

  • one of the best live bands iv ever seen

  • If there was ever a song the Foo Fighters have done that is a clear indication of his Nirvana roots. This is the song. i can just picture Kurdt Singing this song. RIP Kurdt.

  • yeah, I can see that. You should listen to X Static and Exhausted from the Foo's first album...those sound the most like Nirvana to me.

  • This a badass version of this song I fucking love it

  • Me too

  • where did you get this video?

  • 6 or 7 years ago, I was looking for Foo Fighters shows using Kazaa or Morpheus peer to peer file sharing programs.

  • slappen da bass

  • lol, Nate's an animal!

but seriously, he always uses a pick for some reason...

  • i hate people who say the foo's are better now than they were at this point......this is the best live tape i have of the shows

  • they ware good at this point, and they are good now(maybe a little bit better)

  • shappy ..im not slag ya off for thinking that...as im still a huge fan ...but i liked the rawer grungier foo fighters from the early period...im not a huge of the softer stuff

  • I agree with lonewolf, I miss "angry" Dave, screaming his guts out. I really think the whole "skin & bones" album wasn't that good. The acoustic version of My Hero with keyboards and other crap, just about ruined the song.

  • i understand you but im to joung to know the grunge foos. i think this konzert is older then I am. but i like this grunge style.

  • It's funny to watch old videos and see how a little more serious Dave was with his performances. Not in the sense that he takes it less seriously now but it seems he's a little more 'loose' on stage now.

  • Yeah, I know...from what i heard, around this time Dave going through a messy divorce... "Enough Space," "Wind Up", and "My Poor Brain" seem very angry to me...but they don't seem to specifically refer to something crappy like a messy divorce though...Dave's happily married and has a kid now, so life is good.

  • he has 2 kids now!

  • i just heard about that too, a daughter...Harper Willow... that's cool, but he should have a son to carry on his legend ; )

  • I have tried a bunch of times to find this to download but can't find it. I recorded it when they aired it and that tape got eat up in the vcr which really pissed me off. Then about 3 or 4 years later MTV played it again and I got that one recorded but my sister ended up recording over it. Would you mind putting up Winnebago? I love the way they covered that song.

  • Its been post by someone else, look for "Foo Fighters - Winnebago (Brixton Academy 1995)"

  • you can buy it if you want, go to lahotdeals (dot) net and they have it there

  • Winnebago is cover? WTF

  • Nah, Dave wrote it while he was still in Nirvana.

btw - what makes you think this is a cover?

  • Well i knew all that before. Someone commented on this vid that it is a cover and i was replying to that, thats why i said wtf

  • lol, yeah i just noticed that comment...

  • is the full concert out there for download by any chance?

  • Good question, I would search bit torrents, but I don't know if a recording of the entire show was made. Or if a copy was made available for sale after the show. I only know that people just taped it off of MTV...

  • F*&^k yaeh 1 of my fav Fooies songs from bak in d day!!!! Good times 2 this song!!!

  • lol, yeah...its one of my favorite "Dave screaming his guts out" Foo songs...

  • thank you very much dave!

how can it be the brixton concert if it wes in 95,and this song is from 97 album? =\

  • Well, according to the Foo's website, this song premiered Oct 16 1995. The first album were 12 of the 40(?) songs he wrote during Nirvana and just after. I suppose Dave's always writing and it just didn't make it on to the first album

  • oh it's probably it, thanx =S

  • I know that I had this song on live foo bootlegs well before the Foo album The Color & The Shade that this song was on.

I think it was one of his extra songs from his Nirvana days.

  • thanx ^^

  • Jeez i would if i could but im in Australia and the tape is back in the States. It'll prolly haf to wait til next March wen i go back.

  • I still got this on VHS! : )

  • You should try to post the whole show : )

  • pat smear was confused he thought he was playing for the village people haha

  • he knew what he was doing ;)

  • i saw this on MTV when i was ten, changed my world man!

  • Me too...it's amazing how the Foo's sound has evolved since The Colour & the Shape came out

  • its so GAY how MTV has evolved since 2000

  • True, they decided MTV wasn't really meant for us anymore, just teenage girls. That's where the money is :P

  • I haven't seen this in well over a decade - I used to have it on VHS.

  • On VHS? Sweet. I wished I would have bought more Foos merchandise back in the day...i only bought T shirts and posters when i went to see them.

  • Whoops - well, I taped it from MTV way back when. My mom accidentally tapes over it. Such a great performance, I really miss these days.

  • i love smear foo.......:)

  • lol, me too

  • Pat smear = pure ownage

  • I taped this off TV on my VCR, back when the band was good.

  • I wonder how the Foos would have sounded if Franz Stahl didn't leave...

  • Back when they were good?

God bless your shitty taste in music

  • prob the oldest foo video ive seen
