  • There are two kinds of splits, the square splits and the turnout splits. She's doing sa turned out split with her knee facing out, which is a dance split and not a gymnastics split. I know because I've done both gymnastics and dance.They use different muscles.

    Do your research before you start criticizing, assholes.

  • Bouncing in the splits is one of the most idiotic things you could possibly do. That's how you tear a muscle. And just because shes 30 doesn't mean its a shocker she can do splits. The splits are one the easiest. My ballet teacher is 54 and he can still go into them and more.

  • Thats not really the splits, well its like an easier version.

    You need to make sure your back knee is facing the GROUND not to the side....oh and please don't bounce, if your really in the splits your shouldn't be able to....you can do some damage to your muscles and such by doing that.

    but it should be more controlled, very slowly up and down

    it helps your legg muscles, and eventullay you will be able to go down and up from splits without using your arms to push you up

    and if your legs are really flexible, from doing over splits, bouncing really wont do anything.. because your legs are used to stretching so far, bouncing wont do anything.

  • No you could still pull a muscle by bouncing. I do oversplits everyday for gymnastics and can go all the way down but my coaches say that even though I can do that I should NOT bounce because I could pull a muscle.

    actually our rhythmic gymnastics coach makes us do that really slowly to build up muscles so we can lift our leggs different ways

  • Do not bounce down into the splits. Do gentle stretching and hold best for a slow 5 count then do 5 or 6 repeats.
