  • lol ford is a straight up POS i know cuz i had a ranger, f150 and a car, no wonder mercury, rangers no longer in production, ford sucks bottom line and no one wants the trash on wheels. always a let down. Chevy will own fords forever nor will i ever own a ford POS again, i dont like walkin or paying tow bills. never walked or had a chevy towed. CHEVY is #1 and always will be and thats a FACT.

  • I have been dumb enough to owen 3 ford ranger pickups , have to say not bad to drive back and forth, but for off road, like wet grass or mud they are junk!!!!! the last was a 99 ranger ex cab xlt, 4.0 v6,,,, was hung up more times in that truck than all the cars and trucks i have drove put to gather...... chevy s10,,,, bull proof!!!!!

  • @clutch2005 I am a fan of small trucks and SUVs in general for offroading. I am in a 97 ranger (i have a cool slideshow if your interested) and in general any small 4x4 truck will suprise people offroad the whole s10 vs ranger argument is stupid because neither of them really have any big design differences, at the end of the day its all about driver. besides stupid pulling contests where the winner gets to fuck their sister first lol

  • @johnnyboy922 Contrary to what 'clutch2005 said, I know a Ranger can do some extradinary things off road. This last summer I used it in a foot of mud at a country music festival in WI...It rained the whole week and a couple days before hand. It really comes down to tires and how you drive. I made a couple bigger trucks look like shit after they saw what I went through. I was running Bridgestone Dueler ATR's and they only had 20% tread left. Cooper Discoverer's are on it now.GRIPPY!

  • how can u compar the power of trucks when they arnt even close in production year, you got a mid-80s 215 vs. a 94-96(?) ranger. the diffrence in engine is nothing. its the advantage in traction control and power distrabution in the new truck compared to the straight drive train in the older truck. plus the diffent tires. the list goes on and on. im not running down the video uploader, more the people running down the s15 cus they ford guys.

If by straight drivetrain you mean front engine rear wheel drive, then both of these truck are the same as far as that goes. To make this fair you could put a an 80's 2.8v6 ranger up to it, but honestly, if that 4 banger ranger pulled the s10, i think the 2.8 ranger would only add insult in to injury in the chevys case

  • The ranger actually has more towing capibility than the S-10. I haven't looked up power but I assuming it has more, but it could also be that rangers have stronger suspension than s-10's.

  • @WoZIMoo i cant find my comment right now and idk what it is but im assuming i said chevy v8s are more powerful and tourquey then ford v8s.... which they may not be anymore but a 95 chevy with a 350 will out muscle a ford up until the new 5.0, and i can say that my s10 with a vortec v6 snapped a rod and still drove half a mile without siezing.....and no coolant

    You can also note that Chevy fucked everybody in North America. Chevy trucks are notorious pieces of shit and have been behind Ford in sales for over 30 years. If you are going to base a truck on a diff lock than you should go buy a prius. Just because a manufacturer offers it as an "option" dosent mean its worth it. Look at the option price vs buying a PROPER unit from detroit locker. "chevy uses an allison tranny, the same brand as an M1" fuck off. Chevy runs deep into hell.

  • This is a very fair competion, there really not that far apart in age or horsepower, it is a 1999-01 ranger(117 hp) vs 1986-93 s-10 (125hp) . so could only be 6 years apart and s-10 is rated at more hp

  • @MattHutzell i would thinkg they have addressed the issues with the ford 4.0 and trannys by now but it used to be a bad mix. the chevy thing i agree. i don't care for the 2.2, 2.5, or the 2.8. 4.3 is supposed to be a tough motor though. as for the 2.3 and 3.0 that also went into the rangers, i know those are decent motors. how much motor do you need in a pup truck? i've driven all the rangers options and i thought all were fine. just saying.. i do side with ya on the chevys from bad experiences

  • @blueovalfan23 the 3.0 ranger engine is a pile of garbage and the 2.9 v6 doesnt have enough power to get out of its own way literally. 4.0 is the only good engine- hey its a truck your supposed to be able to haul things with it. thats why you need more power

  • @demoderbydriver1 i've scrapped almost anything you can name and i've done it all with a f150 with a 300 ci. i'm not talking light loads. i'm tagged for 10,000 and i've clear that by a sizable amount many times. are you doing that with pup truck? no. i've ridden in a 3.0 5speed ranger hauling a super c tractor. it handled it fine. i'm thinking that's good enough. i can't think of anything you would be hauling with a pup truck that would need more than the base models.

  • @blueovalfan23 the 3.0 has a bit of power but everyone ive ever seen comes apart before 100k mark. either the oil pump quits or it overheats just a little and the head gasgets blow out.. ok so i dont haul as much as you and i prob dont haul nearly as much with as my 4.0 ranger can but why have a 4 cylinder in a truck? you basically can haul groceries in the bed. maybe a small couch. thats about it.

  • @demoderbydriver1 i have to say, i have seen the opposite out of the 3.0. as for the head gasket going, that's from people not watching the temps. if you pay attention, and stop before it overheats, you'll likely not have that issue. the oil pumps i've never heard of one going bad, not saying that can't or won't. now why have a 4 banger in a truck? fuel ecconomy for starters, not to mention they will do more than you give them credit for. i wouldn't have anything bigger in a pup truck.

  • @demoderbydriver1 the 4.0 is pretty reliable but in auto its gutless and a gas guzzler. my best buddy owns a 2011 ranger fx4 with a 4.0 auto and the thing cost $90 to fill the tank(gas at about $1.12 in canada) and only lasts 600km i get better milage in my 5.3 sierra with dual 3 inch straight pipes and headers. ive driving both his 4.0 2011 auto and my dads older 90 ranger which had the 2.3l i4 and the i4 was actually faster. the 4.0 ranger my buddy has is slow and bad milage.

  • @demoderbydriver1 also that 2.3l went to 300xxx km and was bagged everyday and hauled my 06 sierra on a 14 foot tandam axle trailer and we only ever had to do regular maintaince to it. the 4.0l my buddy has already blew a bolt on the headers has a rough shift now from pretty much baggin it and hes already went through a starter and a battery. hes owned the ranger since mid February .

The 2.8 v6 and the 6.5 Detroit. Any four banger can beat the 2.8. I pulled an 89 4x4 blazer with the 2.8 against my moms 08 accord, and I won in the accord. Just turds, but they both get pretty good fuel economh

  • @GAredneck389 lol ur comparing a older lower hp v6 against a newer closer to 200 hp i4... that civic would beat the 2.5 also. and i have the 2.8l mpfi swapped into my 1985 pontiac acadian with headers and a full 3 inch exhaust with a pair of glasspacks and a k&n cold air intake and its defiantly better than the old i4 that was in it. ive also beaten plenty of civics/rangers u name it if its got a na v6 ive probably beaten it. after the rebuild it had 160 hp and 165 lb-ft tq.

  • Age of the trucks has a lot to do with it. Have you seen a 80's model truck spin both back wheels.No but 97and newer they spin both back wheels. When you got both back wheels spining you get more traction.
