one of my children is in care i want her home and its been recomended by an indipendant social worker she should be returned to me but im still fighting i love and want her home with me i just dont get answers of why it hasnt happened yet
personal experience with the care system having been in it from 11 till (what was meant to be 21 haha!!) 16 when i was told someone elses needs your bed! hits a few strings found the programmes really quiter triggering.
Watched the programmes last night interested in comments from children re foster carers i e " my food was ina different fridge" was this because he had stolen the food from the family fridge? " I was not allowed to use the bath" was this because she had repeatedly flooded the bathroom so was now encourage to use the shower? the child who came home from school to find her bags packed. what hasshe done to the carer to get to that point? Foster carers were not adequately represented
Thought provoking video it makes me want to shout at the people watching the children to do something , hold out their hand to offer help, anything. I am looking forward to the programmes but know it will be difficult watching at times.
children in the care seem are almost lucky or unlucky in what care they get depending on how much the carer is able or willing to do to support them but the main problem seems to be the wall the local authorties put in front of carers. surely the rules and policies should be there to help the young person and carer to get the best for each child this is not the case and many carers who have stood up for what they believe is best pratice are de registered on flimsy grounds or no grounds at all
It's very sad yes that these kids end up in care. However, as I work for the care system I can put forward my experiences. I cant disregard the helplessness and abandonment these kids feel and its my job to promote their rights, dignity and the ability to come to terms with their loss. I feel my team and my authority does a good job in caring for these kids. If the care system wasn't there ......where exactly would they go? The recession and other global events can only mean more admissions.
Haha

I think this trailer is excellent.
It shows the helplessness that a lot of young people feel when entering the system and it also shows societies lack of interest towards them.

I dont understand thiss trailer!!!!
ughhh but it was deffinetly disturbing.
im gonna watch it on the tv
and what is the care system??!
XxMizzGeexX 2 years ago
The care system is set up to look after children that, for one reason or another, can't be looked after at home.
The trailer shows children disappearing into the system. Most of the time children go into the system and find it difficult to get out.

im highly interested to see the development of this program, esp if it explores children disappearing and depending on the system.
My exposure with children living under a care system under volunteer means has at most times left me very skeptical of the governing body's motive.
im curious to what perspective and depth this program will take.
