  • Phil Hartman!!!! ! ! ! !@ !@ ! !

  • Man this looks like Kung Fu theater on the Saturday matinee all over again, lol.

  • Another example of when WHITE AINT RIGHT

  • TOTALLY AGREE

  • I honestly don't think that there is a problem with the tempo...

  • it looks as if it is dubbed, he doesn't even appear to be moving his lips with this song,

  • @freedom1always the video and audio are out of sync

  • every frame looks like an old cd cover

  • Frank doesn't quite know what to do with the tempo/rhythm.. But let's forgive him because he made a great studio take of this earlier..

  • Agree with the negative comments...Frank is immortal and rightfully so, but this performance is awful.

  • This isn't doing it for me. Sinatra is an absolute master of phrasing and his laid-back articulation ruins the bossa. This has got to be a lot more spot-on.

  • @Superphilipp Yeah, I felt like he was being very lazy with this song lol

  • @Superphilipp True, he is a master of phrasing, but I don't think it ruins the song or bossa. Just a different feel. Stan Getz put his own stamp on this piece with Astrud Gilberto, you could say the same about STAN but nevertheless it went down a storm! :) Each to his own right? MC

  • Sill good to me.

  • Bossa Nova has it beat nada.Essa palette is grim, and these soils bolero! In the book No More Longing for the Ruy Castro he cites Tom Jobim had to teach the Voice to sing again, but apparently he did not learn.

  • Girl From Ipanema not sing well.

Frank is singing badly. Sinatra shut up!

    Brasil_l_Fuck you Sinatra!

Americans will fuck your shit impersonators!

  • she passes goes >.....AMY........AMY........AMY

  • The whole Album is a Classic that two Greats collaborated on; SINATRA & JOBIM...like SINATRA & COLE PORTER.

  • Even if Sinatra was an awesome singer, his voice and rhythm don't fit for this song. Much more better the real brazilian version.

  • great guitar solo!

  • Belleza de bellezas......

  • No Jobim or Moraes in it, only American musicians with Sinatra.

If you want to watch a really great orf it with Sinatra and Tom Jobim together go to v=B2UYVvkpYRo&feature=related

    Greetings.

  • I miss songs like this, oh how i hate auto-tune

  • When he originally recorded this tune with Jobim in the mid 60's I think he was more into the artistry of his singing. He's just going through the motions here. The tempo is a little to slow, the Fender Rhodes is a little annoying. I think the lack of an audience is also affecting his performance. I'd be willing to bet they didn't rehearse and that he only did one take. I'm going to have to give Ole Blue Eyes a C- on this one.

  • He has never sounded this unnerved. Don't get me wrong I love frankie, but this is a bad song for him.

  • Lol, that's Jobim on guitar, doesn't even mention it.

  • @Magikawp I don't think that's Jobim. Its Vinicius de Moraes, the guy who wrote the lyrics to the song. He was also a musician and wrote the song with Jobim.

  • @Magikawp Nope, that's not him!

  • Frankie boy is a class act all the way. Even when he uses the word "broad" in a song.

  • Gee – the white boy can sure play that geetar!

BTW, out of interest, who's singing?

  • patron

  • Its amazing how the voice of Frank Sinatra makes the others instrument sound like nothing

  • Wow. I have never heard Frank sound so uncomfortable. I like how he tried to mimick Astrud's accent. Shoulda stuck with "Fly Me to Da Moooon." Go back to Vegas, you drunk hack. hahahaha

  • the double bassist is a beast :3

  • I'll marry iwith this song, ieii - everybody inveted! hehe

    =*

  • I liked how he walked away at the end "oh shit hot-dogs" hahahah

  • stan getz just LOVES how you kill the timing and tempo!!! way to go you dead bitch!

  • What's the song at the end? :D

  • thanks for the memories.my dad really likes this one.

Arriba bossanova

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • hahahaha sinatra singing this!.. soo random! haha nice, this made my day :)

    ..awful btw.. lacks the feeling

  • Lip syching very badly or the track is not in synch with the video.

  • I like the original more. But Frank sings it okay.

  • You to have to be brazilian to play, you just need talent and feeling to sing.

  • My apollogies, but, if you really want to play bossa nova like a brazilian, at least you will need a guitar player from Brazil, because, play Bossa WITH PICK its a crime. And.. to sing bossa loke brazilian.. yeah.. born in Brazil pretty, so you'll get the MALANDRAGEM.

  • The film is SO out of sync with the sound. Too bad. Augh.

  • Faltó Tom Jobim!

  • My Most favorite Frank Song.....

  • I never expected to hear anything from my man Frank that was anything less than perfect but this is not quite there. End of the line, one more throw of the darts at the charts... I cant listen to this without thinking of Astrud's melody

  • Sou mais o Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, mas ficou legalzinho.

  • Jesus!! You are so dumb!!! Do you REALLY think this is a playback rehearsal?????????

  • I love this song, also the version with Frank Sinatra, but this performance is so clearly playback, does nobody here see that he is singing before the time and often not moving his mouth in the right way...? It's a pity... really! Nice song anyway, Brazilian song writers are great! I also saw the real girl from Ipanema once in Rio, around 1999. I voted dislike for the bad performance, sorry!

  • @Gongolina15 you do know, that it is common ESPECIALLY with youtube videos that audio and video are not in sync...and also: when he sings: "evryone goes ahh.." the "ahh" part is fucked up every time, do you really think they would take such a playback?

  • the guy in the guitar is not playing the proper melodies haha, the guitar is actually much more harder than that =P

  • Hi my name is Frank Sinatra, I don't have to sing the real rhythm for any melody because my voice is pretty good...fuck ball, please sing to the melody so you will sing your songs the same more than 3 or 4 times in your life...

Wish I could have told him.

  • This wasn't the right song for Mr. Sinatra.

  • @spitoncat He does seem to strain his voice a little in this one, but the version with Jobim performing is much better (studio or live).

  • @spitoncat Right on...

  • @spitoncat franks not as his best here but shiyyyyt that guitarist did a beautifull solo ey. he sounds incredible on the "new york, new york" vinyl i have

  • The Brazilian singer, which plays acoustic guitar on that version, is called Antônio Carlos Jobim, or just Tom Jobim. He was, is, and will ever be one of the greatest composers of Brazil, or even of the entire world. And, if you guys want to watch that version, just search for: Sinatra & Jobim - The girl from Ipanema. Cheers from Brazil.

  • @ezial49 - Yes, Antonio Carlos Jobim was certainly the premier Brazilian composer of his generation, but let's not forget Luis Bonfa (Black Orfeus) and Juao Gilberto, who, I believe, provides guitar accompaniment to Mr. Sinatra in this video.

  • the 8 people who disliked this video are rubbish, they should listen to rubbish music like lady gaga or 50 cent .....leave sinatra and bossa nova music to people who appreciate it

  • That's a version 'cus there some words in the lyric by Sinatra that isn't in the original version in portuguese by Jobim. But it is pretty good too.

  • whats the song after the sinatra video? and is this byrd on the guitar?

  • the first time I heard this song is from a movie, then I fell in love with this song XD

  • This is such a Hot version of the song!

  • @GirlFromIpanema1966 IT SUCKS!!!

  • Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes will be always thanked for creating this beautiful song

  • Tempo is too slow.

  • AL VIOLA , SUCH A GUITARIST!!!

    BUT JOBIM IS THE MOST!!!

  • Frank has the natural feelings, which are attractive to listeners.

  • hey, i wanna know the chill down soundtrack at the end1

    INFO INFO INFO ! PLEASE

  • Is this dubbed!?

  • It must be a real treat to play the guitar like that.

  • The video is out of sync.

  • sorry but this recording is shite!

I have a recording of Frank doing this song that is soooo much better than this one. I think he was having a bad day!

It also has a section sung in Spanish (not sure who the other artist is).

  • @JohnnyRawhide That version is probably the version with A.C. Jobim and it's in Portuguese. I agree with you, this is a very bad performance by Sinatra!

  • I agree for saying that it isn't a good performance from Sinatra in this song witch deserve a better interpretation.

  • @nunuche31

The worst performance i've seen of him, even a genius can fuck up it seems! ;)

  • @Reaper1984 even so he did a good job

  • @TheGoodWillSpreader

True, what's sad about it is that Frank does a decent version, then it's still better then singers you hear today in live tv shows like eurovision songcontest, melody festivals, etc.

Again that just showcases what a huge talent he really was.

  • @Reaper1984 yup, but sadly this isnt the best version, i know there is one of him that is a duet, he sings some parts in english and then the other person on brazilian or portugese, not sure, still sinatra was both the voice and the bird of the mafia, shame he died, recent music could use some lessons from him

  • @TheGoodWillSpreader

Exactly, i wonder what the name of that version was, i so miss it, used to have it on my computer.

  • @Reaper1984 yeah me too, despite i have it the songs is only given credit to sintra is never mentioned who else features it

  • @JohnnyRawhide The other could be Jobim, and there is no spanish version, it's portuguese

  • drunk and high as a kite - yes my son! give it some!

  • Music From TOM JOBIM>>>> Brazil- B0ssa Nova

Sinatra just translate the music to English...

  • só um idiota NÃO GOSTA!

  • My mom used to sing this to me as a lulluby when i was little. <3 this song

  • i love that guitar solo so simple and yet so full of win

  • fui el numero 100.000 en verla

  • can someone get the original Frank Sinatra version of this song onto youtube?

what does youtube have against having Sinatra songs on here? is it because they are positive and inspiring? it seems these days the people who own and control us don't want us to be happy with good music?

  • @quaidnomore The original version was composed by our Brazilian Tom Jobim called Garota de Ipanema ,Sinatra sings for only really liked our music and admired Tom Jobim

  • Americano fazendo bossa é igual brasileiro fazendo Jazz rsrs

  • Hey I remember a long version where he walks down the stairs while the guitarist jams anyone know where its at

  • WHAT? OLD BLUES??

you don´t even know what are you talking about..

This Song is made by a greatest compositor of Brasil (Brazil)

This style is Bossa Nova! The sound of Brasil!

This Song is made by: Tom Jobim

Shake this out: Tom Jobim and Vicícios de Morais singing "The Girl from Ipanema" Beautifully

The songs played in Central Park by saxophonists are the sound of Brasil!

    Anyway..Frank Sinatra sings wonderfully!

  • @MaybeYouAndI .. It's Vinicius de Moraes. He is to important to be spelled wrong

  • i love this song from old blue eyes wow, awesome.

  • Poppa,

I know this was your favorite song. I used to love playing this piece on all my guitars, for you my sweet Father....

    Frankie III

  • Tom's song, Frank's voice

  • perfect, nothing more to say

  • quien toca la guitarra¡?

  • dude this sinatra does't have the passion for the music like he use to haha. this is called the limelight years.

  • he's dead

  • thats true, it looks like hes not even putting effort into singing this song, i feel like his voice needs more melody in this

  • I love that he walks away at the end.

    Such typical Sinatra.

"Scew this crap. I sang the damned song now I'm done."

  • @redstatesrule Haha I'm a drummer and do the same thing.

  • TOM JOBIM ¬¬

  • Where are the romance singers, The Slow Songs of our generation?

Mr Sinatra, rest in peace man, but please Inspire somebody to actually write emotional music.

  • Tom Gaebel is pretty good. But you're right, there are not many great musicians around nowadays.

  • @MrWolf316 He didn't write this song.

  • @MrWolf316 Michael Buble' maybe? But I totally agree

  • @MrWolf316 michael buble!

  • @MrWolf316 and who says that he write this song ? he just sang it ! this song was written by a brazilian singer composer called Tom Jobim ..

  • @MrWolf316 what about some of Michael Buble songs? He tries to keep some of the oldies alive.

  • @MrWolf316 Try Norah Jones?

  • man this song is exactly how i feel right now

  • What a tribute to a beautiful woman and the man she never gets to see..................
