This is not beatboxing, this is the musical equivalent of a photorealistic painting. Most beatboxers I've heard always try to replicate synthesizers, whereas these guys are actually replicating real musical instruments, so much so that it reminds me of a voice actor doing physical movements to enhance the sound of his voice (in this case making the hand motions of how the real instruments would be played).

They are incredibal. Our soultrio "Ol' Boy Group" plays songs from the last 30 years - arranged with three-set-voicings (rare). We included "Lovely day" and "Seven steps to heaven" from Take 6 in our set and we have really a lot, lot of fun in rehearsals and concerts. Thank you very, very much for inspiring us!!!!!!!!!!!
I do too. I'm one of them, but I listen to this music, the good music, as in the 80s and 90s and choral. Choral music is my favorite... The Harmony of choral singing is what truly brings people together for at least a while.

All I was saying was that Take 6 been around for over 20 yrs. They've won 18 Grammy Awards. Plus I went and listened to Naturally 7...those dudes are really good, but their harmony is not as distinct. I don't know if this is your first time listening to Take 6, but if it is, you've got a lot of CDs to listen to.
I went and checked out Naturally 7. They are VERY good. Actually it's nice to see someone taking up the mantle. However, I must respectfully disagree that they surpass Take 6. The body of work isn't there yet to make such a statement. I don't know how long N7 has been around, but I'm sure they spent MANY a day learning Take 6 songs in their basement. Like I said, they're very good. But T6 just has too much experience to be compared to them at this point. Maybe one day. But not yet.

When I was a kid, I went to their concert at Norfolk State. They are talented boys from Oakwood College. I went to CUC, but my cousins and some of my friends went to Oakwood University (formerly Oakwood College).
Take 6 are from Oakwood University, aka Oakwood College. A college ive been connected since birth basically, my mom is a prefessor there and i am a student at the highschool. My mom went to school with them all, she remembers them announcing in class that they were nominated for a grammy i believe. I saw 3 of them sing couple months ago at a funeral at their home church Oakwood College.
Its not wierd seeing them, but it is wierd seeing how much people outside of huntsville, AL know of them.
I love Take 6 music and would love to hear the song U-Turn. Love how they keep their music clean and without lacking talent. Theirs is truly great music.

They're not bringing them down, they're just telling the truth. B2M was better than mediocre, so I see your point, but in comparison to the best in the world, they're mediocre. Take6 sung with the Boston Pops Orchestra and it was unbelievable...my god! @chaamills: boyz II men is good, but their music doesn't even come close in terms of complexity. these guys are not only jazz masters, their live performances are almost as perfect as their recordings. not to knock boyz - i like them too, but take 6 is a different league (and genre) altogether.
that just gives me chills .. I listen mostly to underground hiphop, but ever since I heard So Much 2 Say in the 90s, I consume as much Take 6 as I possibly can. Those cats are unreal.

comparing Take 6 as a musical accapella group to Boyz2Men is unfair...one group is there for mainly it's artistic expression and the other was there to make nice records,have a "cool image" make $ and sing nicely

Secondly, Boys2Men isnt even in the same STRATOSPHERE as Take6 OMG!! Oh, and by the way, I own a Music Consulting Firm that writes R&B all the way to Classical Symphonies so...hmmm...I THINK I know about what I am talking. Oh, and by the way, THESE GUYS HAVE MASTERS AND DOCTORATES IN MUSIC!!! You CANNOT be this dumb!

I don't know why any of you are comparing Boyz II Men and Take 6. Take 6 came before, and Boyz II Men came in and started doing something different, but they're both wonderful. I'd say that Take 6 is more talented in acapella and jazz than Boys II Men is. I enjoy both. I enjoy anything acapella - I don't see the sense in making a fuss about who's better. You either appreciate good music or you don't.

They're not bringing them down, they're just telling the truth. B2M was better than mediocre, so I see your point, but in comparison to the best in the world, they're mediocre. Take6 sung with the Boston Pops Orchestra and it was unbelievable...my god! This is the difference: It is the equivalent of Steve Nash and Lebron James: Lebron has all of the talent, but why did Steve Nash win two back to back NBA MVPs? It's not simply talent...it's talent AND discipline...it's Take6.

Calling those harmonies pointless just points out your musical taste is lacking imo ;) boyz2men are good no doubt about it but take6 is a whole different level baby. Plus the fact that they both reach out to a very different crowd

Oh, and btw, for all of you idiots who think that if you cant make love to it or if it aint got a "bangin' beat" then it aint good music, yes, you are dumb. Most of you have no clue what is going on in the music or how difficult it is to do what Take6 does. It's like Pavarotti & McHammer. @chaamills: boyz II men is good, but their music doesn't even come close in terms of complexity. these guys are not only jazz masters, their live performances are almost as perfect as their recordings. not to knock boyz - i like them too, but take 6 is a different league (and genre) altogether.

that just gives me chills .. I listen mostly to underground hiphop, but ever since I heard So Much 2 Say in the 90s, I consume as much Take 6 as I possibly can. Those cats are unreal.
