As a term of art, the word 'Surge' has been used to refer to the change in tactics and the increased troop requirements needed to make them work.

McCain was one of Col McFarland's first backers, and was instrumental in persuading the Bush administration into backing the McFarland system with an increase of troops.

This is undeniable history, even though McCain may have flubbed the delivery.

For McCain, 'The Surge' is the name of a strategy based on McFarland's methods. Always has been.

Mccain is really deceitful- the surge was supposed to have ended one yaar ago -and then assessed if successful or not- that was Bush's agreement to get funding for the surge -most people have forgotten that. The surge was not succeeding with the benchmarks at that time. Fortunately the Democrats gave consent to EXTEND THE SURGE. The Dems LET the surge continue -that's why its succeeding -McCain should shut up with his rhetoric that the surge was originally intended to go on this long.

What's really horrifying, and more a reflection of the American people than any candidate, is that we live in a country where someone as out-of-touch, ignorant, and senile as McCain can get anywhere close to the US Presidency. Then the media cheers for him and brainwashes the public from hearing half of his expressions of stupidity. I remember the other day McCain was commenting on how dangerous that Pakistan/Iraq border is. Un-f#&#king believable.

He already had a special comment on it. Obama is playing his hand, if he can get it put in with the judge's oversight then nothing is too wrong with the bill, actually go review it. And if those rules are in place, then it would be much easier to sovle the puzzle of the Bush Administration.

I think Keith is still hoping Obama will do something about it once he's in office. Here's my theory. If Obama gets elected, the GOP will take care of this for us since they won't want the shoe to be on the other foot and a Democrat being able to spy on them. Mark my words I bet they do a 180 on this faster than Linda Blair's head can turn around if they're worried about their own sorry butts being targeted. It's pitiful, but a scenario I could see happening.

McCain made the same vote, so there would be little point in reporting it.  The only issues that should be reported now are the ones on which the candidates differ, not the ones on which they are the same.
