@jjisola Navajo can wear their hair long. It's just the majority of the time it's in chongo. Remeber Navajo identity was lose association of families and clans, and is still true to this day. Naadleeh marriage was common though.

This is not a Navajo Wedding Ceramony.I wish the native man and white woman a happy life together and that they honor eachother.They spent alot on their atire but had nothing at the same time.The man who did the ceramony seemed to stumble on his words and meanings.

This looks like a scene from Dances with Wolves! Leave it to some non natvie to think they know our traditions. Whomever conducted this wedding ceremony better get their facts straight. This is NOT a traditional navajo wedding ceremony. And you should be ashamed of yourself for taking something that is sacred to the navajo people and turning it into some kind of spectacle. The historical success of the Navajo Nation can be traced partly to revered tradition, but it is also traced through the many clans which, in their origins, adopted and normalized the infusion of outsiders - Tewa, Hopi, even Mexicans (bitter enemies, in the past) - all of whom contributed materially and spiritually to what Navajo people are today. Why should the *occasional* marriages of black, white or yellow people to NDN people today threaten a strong, spiritually healthy and proud Nation?

I too see much virtue in marriages which preserve language, heritage and culture in the face of a pervasive, dominant, corrosive, yet obviously imperfect alien culture. But nevertheless, we differ... I also see much value in *some* mixing of a few special individuals and families who have the necessary creativity to grow and learn from the inevitable contacts we must have with our neighbors.
