I am learning about aquaponics for my food growing from pot growers. As a moderately liberal Catholic person (as in, I believe drugs are bad, but don't care if you use so long as you don't mess with my shit since that's between you and the Big Guy upstairs) I find this absolutely hilarious and it makes me giddy all over.
"The amounts suggested in the nutrient calculator are the total nutrient to feed the plant for a whole week, not the amount to give them per feeding - If you want to feed nutrient to your plants more than once per week, divide the amount (total ppm) for that week by the number of feedings that you want to give - Example: If the plants need 1200 ppm for the week, and you want to feed 6 times, divide 1200 by 6 and mix the reservoir at 200 – 250 ppm." True or not? Please reply, thanks.
How much hydroton did you put in your 2x4? I ask because i also have a 2x4 and i put 50 litres of hydroton which leaves me with about 3" of space This isnt a problem? I assumed it would have to be flushed with your pots
@DeCo818 3 inches of space between what? 3 inches from the hydroton to the top of your pots? I fill as much hydroton as it takes to cover the water... I just make sure the nutrients aren't exposed to the water. Has to be enough so it wont float when you fill the tray. Its not necessary, I've seen ppl cover their nutes other ways, but this was easiest most beneficial for me... oh, and I always flush before harvests, no matter the growing media.
@thegame52291 yep, I grow all my veggies from seeds and they grow exactly the same way as the cannabis. I put the seeds in starter cubes and usually keep a dome over top until they get good roots on them.
@supchaka it reduces algae growth...if the light hits your nutrients it has greater potential for algae growth. i also like the displacement factor... Meaning it takes less nutes or water to fill it. The weight in the tray also helps stability.
your so sexy harvesting your own mary <3

you need alot of red spectrum and just little bit of blue.
i reccomend using LED or HPS with flourecents.

@123karaholt only problem with LEDs is finding the optimum distance from light to plant as closer is not better :-)

Ive never seen a setup that actually fills the tray with the hydroton. Is there some advantage to that?
