i have no idea if i need one or not...ugh. i mean i can feel two cavities in my teeth with my tongue and theyre BOTH on the gum line... both are also my top molars. anyway, i feel pain if something gets stuck in there or when im outside and its cold. sometimes i feel it randomly but thats not common and it did hurt really bad once but i think that was from listerine...burned for hours. does this sound like an exposed root? anyone know? thanks

pure bullshit taking almost a year for one damn tooth and they charged me like a half months payment from a "normal" job. 700 bucks,thats like 7000 swedish crowns and u earn like 14-17k/ month normally. I need to do atleast one more root canal but not gonna wait one more year ima call a new dentist and get it fixed. atleast it didn't hurt so thats a +,rest was crap. 4 appointments @ 40 minute each @ 1 year for 1 tooth! my friend it it at another dentist and he went 2 times within the same month!

I live in sweden, had no job for 2 years,then got a bad paying job so avoided the dentist for a few more years saving money to go to the dentist.

i went around 20th december and had to do a root filling,

got a dentist that had never done it before but he got shown by the others so np. 20th august just filled the hole and did some bacteria killing, came back may 16th cleaned canals,new appointment 18 july cleaned root canals, another appointment 26th september, filled it and done.

Root canals don't typically hurt but if and when they hurt it's brief, but it's the worst pain ever. Definitely worse than the abscess itself.

@passion1080 I've had 4 root canals and my wisdom theeth pulled and cut out. You will be relieved to know that since they take out the root, you have no (or very little) pain. The most painful thing is an abcessed tooth. Hope this helps.

I didn't care care of my teeth from around 12 to 22 (23 now), 11 years of brushing my teeth once a week (or worse, once a month) has caused me much pain and suffering. Right now I am just trying to get a job in my same field that provides some sort of benefits, I'll never be able to afford 6 root canals at my current job. I do find that brushing is a good pain reliever and doesn't give the bacteria any more chance than they've already had. I've been virtually pain-free for about one week.

Root Canals are nothing!!! I am 23 years old and i have a HUGE FEAR of the dentist... I notified the dentist about this fear and he precribed me Valium...on the night before my root canal i couldnt even sleep major panic attacks... I woke up for the 1030 appointment at 4... pacing around my room and then i took a valium and EVVERYTHING WAS ALLRIGHT:) i no longer have a fear of the dentist with good ole valium :)

That IS prevention, moron. As well as 2 dentist visits every year for a cleaning/ getting those cavities filled before you're only hope is a root canal. It's also the amount of crap people eat these days that's causing so much tooth decay.

It's like people don't want to do these simple things. They'd rather whine and bitch about their $900 root canal treatment plus $1000 crown that could have been prevented with just a little bit of personal care.

to itube: well I got all my root canals and crowns over a 10 year peroid....not all at once. Actually if you have a good root canal dentist (Endodontist) AND.....you don't wait till you are in serious pain....it's not bad at all. The reason why most people associate root canal work with pain is because they let the problem go too long before seeking help. Many root problems can be found in dental x-rays long before the tooth actually starts hurting...thats when you want to get it done.

it's not that bad at all. About the only thing you feel is this warming sensation, otherwise you should be good and numb. I've had three of them and have to have about 5 more lol I am the king of root canals :)
