  • My 8th grade mentor can play this but not as good as quality

  • wonderful! Im a sophomore in highschool and this is my next piece! =)

  • @THEIBEA5T .......mine too......... weird.

  • Respond to this video... i am also a sophmore....not kidding.

  • nice

you don't see much bass melodies in orchestras, so this is impressive

  • @TheCheesyProductions bass melodies are saved for the best moments ;D

  • fantastic playing man,

a little tip, move your bow closer to the bridge when you get farther up into the thumb positions. your bow seems to be constantly too close to the scroll, even in those lower positions like I and III, otherwise, fantastic

  • Beautiful....please brother, more videos of Dragonetti

  • Nice I would Love to get My hands on a one of those. and Post some Funk Music Improv

  • dude you shifted like 80 times :DD thats so cool hahaha,

i play the bass to but im poop next to you x)

  • Orchestral tuning ?

  • well done

  • She said you are garbage!!!eat shit!

  • and dont forget your right hand its your voice, and its really terrible.. the right hand its the same or maybe more than the left hand...

u can use, zimmerman the bowing method or bille 3 those maybe can helo u with interpretation

  • impressive, I'm working on this peice too for an audition. The first movement is a little shaky but overall great job

  • bad bassist man!

  • temos omesmo sobrenome

  • whoa! is that a freakin full size?

  • great job bud!!! minor intonation issues, but its on BASS!!! fuck yea

  • poor sound quality on the recording which, im sure, is the origin of all these criticisms....

  • The timing is a little bit off, make sure you don't cut notes too short or come in too quickly =]

  • thats whats she said

  • im not gonna be like everyone else and say the little things about it to make it seem like i know alot, and to show off. but the trill is a little iffy

  • yeah i know he has his wrist on the bass..... thats a no-no

  • ma l'intonazione????

  • Good job.

However, your phrasing could have been better, espicially during the harmonics. The piece takes a slightly more dramatic and more emotional pause after the lively C major section. It would be even more impressive if you were to slow down after the end of the arpeggios, then accent the beginning of the one that follows, giving it more flow.

Again, great work! It is a very challenging and moving piece and you played it very well.

  • yeah that or i use 2 1 3

and there was a few phrases where i think got off the note to quick. you can hold it out more

  • that was good,

but he shouldnt have started with his thumb.

    The fingering i use is 2 3 3

    But thats just me

  • thumb is fine if you close it and can vibrate with your thumb

  • nice job man

i love this song im 13 and im auditioning for

    all long island with this

  • dragottesini, you talk so much, but where are your videos on youtube playin bass?

  • you talk so much, where are your videoes on youtube playin bass? thats what i thought

  • The question is stupid, my italian friends!

    Very stupid. So, no answer!

  • Pino or the other one I'm sure you use words too hard. You are a joung doublebassist player, italian, and it's not beautiful to attack always me. I'm a poor very poor db. player. Magna Grecia but better Maderna.

  • Uncle Pinuccio from south Italy don't exagerate.

  • I love the incredible discrepancy in the comments between what I'm assuming to be random people and professional/really good bassists

  • Addirittura! Mohhhhh.... ah director Silvio da Trasimeno! Ciao!

There's another thesis. Nanny's editor asked him to write a Concert for doublebass and orchestra. Nanny did it. Probably to increase the selling they decided to attribute it to Mr. Dragonetti. In fact, until now, it's a great success among students. It's not a great concert, but it works well. If you like, go to Mr.Stefano Sciascia website and listen to the original concert in A major. Best regards.

A silvio Silvio.

Come stai?

E' possibile? Ora puoi mandarmi a quel Paese come ti pare e piace.

  • just would like to remember that this concert has never written by Dragonetti (probably by Dragottesini ;-)!). Surely it's an Edoard NANNY's concert written while he was the director of Nationa Conservatory in Paris. The only one who has recorded the authentic concert by Domenico Dragonetti has been italian maestro STEFANO SCIASCIA. Look at his web site. Also Fiona Palmer in her wonderful book indicates the correct concert edit by Malaric. So don't call him"Dragonetti Concert" :-((!

  • very nice... You must have gotten better by now, would like to hear your progress!

    peace, BBP

  • the tempo is allegro moderato where the quarter note equals 104 but despite the accelerando in the beginning run there is not many drastic tempo changes besides a poco ritard here and there

    keep trying!

  • dissonant, out of tempo and altogether horrid

  • ehhhh, hes no stanley clarke. but dont get all bitchy, i know the difference between what this guy does and what stanley does.

  • to me the top four things to a performance are 1)Tone 2)Tempo 3)Rhythm 4)Intonation

    Work on number two mostly

  • With all of the tempo changes this was almost painful to listen to.

  • PLEASE play that first G with even a little vibrato. Let those harmonics ring. Pick a tempo. Work on your scales and vibrato. Be sure not to play that dotted eighth-sixteenth pattern as an eighth note triplet. It should have more space inbetween the notes. You need to work on some fingers. The e minor section sounded mumbled. Vibrato on those high notes! Play that upper register confidently! The harmonic passage needs to be played way more legato and move your bow closer to the bridge during it.

  • loosen up ur bow arm.

    thats all thats really needed

  • You need to fix some bowings

  • Where? Be specific because I did not see any bowing issues. The recording quality was poor, but the execution was great.

  • on the sixteenth note descending scale at the beginning all the notes are really hard to distinguish. part of its probably the recording but he uses way less bow then I would on the notes.

  • i have the george vance, and the one in the yellow sleeve(with the sheet music and the piano part). i need to find the orchestra part but in standard tuning...

  • i started working on this too. the intro isn't terribly hard, just after that is hard. i need to work on my treble and tenor cleff reading.

  • What copy of this music do you have? Most copies that I have don't have any tenor cleff, putting it in there just makes it more overcomplicated. A George Vance book by any chance?

  • Do you have to read tenor cleff alot when playing bass?

I'm not a big tenor cleff fan.

  • I mispelled clef! *runs off crying*

  • i have played a few different pieces where i had to read both tenor and treble clef in addition to bass so it's good to know them all.

  • pretty good job pretty good tone. The harmonics were good some were a little off and a little scratchy but overall pretty good. Try to use vibrato on the high notes in the thumb position

  • Omg you did great!!! I just started working on that song. I just recently finished Gavotte by Lorinzetti

  • ugly record sound

    magnificent playing

  • i think you did JUST GREAT!

i play the cello, and i want to try bass out now!

    thanks for inspiring me!

  • I think the severe criticism is unwarranted. He's a student and this is a very difficult piece. One piece of constructive criticism: I strongly feel the player ought to use vibrato-- to add warmth and texture to the notes-- particularly in the higher registers. Watch some of the pros. They really rip those first three notes at the entrance of first movement-- with a warm, intense, vibrated sound.

  • This is hardly as bad as all these people are saying. I guess your video attracted a frustrated master-class of db virtuosi.

In any event, nice tone, beautifully executed harmonics. Good job. Great piece, well-played. You entertained the shit out of me, at least.

  • how can you possibly be comfortable sitting like that

  • lol its more comfy than u expect :D

  • umm i dont get how someone can ruin a popular piece like the dragonetti concerto and still score high at state. somehow you did. those judges must have been deaf, and how about writting the title, author and which movement you playing so that half the people who see this know what they are looking at? that makes since to me...

  • el, oh, el.

  • Ahh!! Thumb on the first note?!?! Fatal Error! Use first finger!! Tempos are everywhere!! You rush, you drag! In my opinion a rather tasteless interpretation. Please shoot your teacher for letting you do this to such a nice concerto. Practice with a metronome.

  • nice job overall

i performed this piece last year, and it was awesome.

i just don't agree with the way you phrased some of the sections.

    good job :)

  • Wonderful Sound!!!

    For my personal opinion,

I suggest to play most of the notes on the same string, and can have more glissando.

  • what song is this

Mándalo a estudiar!!

  • Ya man this peice is a monster!! I'm performing it in march. Well see how it goes. Good sound but they're right about practicing it slower

  • I played this a while ago, I took a bit more time on the opening part, but it sounds pretty good.

  • soem parts are rushed, but nice work

  • Oh, and it actually sounds like you might have a little too much rosin on your bow, because it's like you're grinding through the notes.

  • how about some vibrato? Nice big sound though

  • I agree. There was some vibrato at the beginning, but it looked nervous and forced.

But sometimes, on the 16th runs, it sounds mushed together and harsh. So I'd practice it slower. If you can't play it slow and make it sound good, you can't play it fast.

It still sounds pretty good though.

  • I think the piano is a bit loud.this always seems to be a problem with duets.

  • How long did it take for you to learn this? I'm working on this one as well .

  • needs slower practise

  • very goood

  • That sounds really good. What is it called?

  • its called the concierto in a major by dragonetti

  • it was actually written by eduard nanny

  • he's right. it is. good comment award!!

  • well thats wierd wouldnt it be called the nanny concerto in a. did they just throw the dragonetti piece in thier cause it soundedd nice. or was it original works of dragonetti and nanny arranged . yeah im pretty sure it was that!!!

  • eduard nanny wrote the piece for his freind, whatever dragonetti. nanny was not as good at bass as dragonetti

  • Your just making that up. Domenico Dragonetti died 26 years before Eduard Nanny was even born. Nanny was a famous french player and could easily play this concerto. He wrote it as a tribute to Dragonetti and wrote in in the classical style Dragonetti would have played.

  • i made up the story because stories are awesome

  • Great job, Tyler! Congratulations on placing 4th at Oregon State Solo Competition (as a freshman)!

  • Awesome job, musicboy516! You rock!
