  • she has such a beautiful voice. I cannot beleive she is not more famous than this. How old is she?

  • I can't count how many times I've watched this. She is so exceptional and this is the best version I have ever heard. I love her expressions, the way she is in another world when she sings. What a true performer. I have seen other videos of her.

  • Bravo!!!!!!!

  • 3:02-3:22 That decrescendo at the end of that bit gives me goosebumps every time. :)

  • truly pure and beautiful!

  • I have listened to at least a dozen other interpretations of this song by the so called best Schubert sopranos today and from the past and none of them come even close to the purity and brilliance of this rendition. Peerless.

  • is it just me or is she really sharp in some places? especially on Eb. :l

  • @3milysusername Nope, just you man.

  • @3milysusername It's just you.

  • This made so indescribably happy. Truly sensational.

  • thank you Sylvia! :D

  • What a beautiful piece. A great way to start and end the day ;) Love it

  • Who is the pianist, please? This should always be noted!

  • 15 people are die hard Anna Netrebko fans....

  • Belle bouche !!

  • Such SPECTACULAR dynamics.

  • Lovely.

  • Love it! :)

  • ....nice way to start my day..so beautiful and moving...thankyou...premashanti...william

  • This has to be the most beautiful song on Earth for both how it sounds and its lyrics

  • Super performance!

This is my most favorite Schubert's video in YouTube.

    Sehr schön!!

  • How could anyone thumb this down? It's amazing.

Bravo Frau Schwarz

  • @lelourd Hahaha, Ich bin mir sogar sicher!

  • this is like an advert for her agent's private dentist

    nice voice

  • i'm singing this is german for my grade 8 singing :)

  • I sing this as a duet but in english, also as beautiful :D

  • @TeenahBear Is there a soprano/tenor duet, or is it just two sopranos.

  • Incredible !

  • Love the modulations near the end, this piece is epic!

  • I can't decide who is better in my opinion, she or Ms. Fleming. Her control over her voice and mouth movements that enhance & punctuate the pronunciations are amazing. But Ms. Fleming's voice has been a favorite of mine for years.

One of my favorite pieces of all time, spectacularly done. Bravo, Ms. Schwartz. <3

  • SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!!l

  • SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!!

  • thank you Askonas. I like Sylvia with no vib. nora

Wunderbar!

  • Beautiful!

  • You are peace, the gentlest peace, the deepest yearning and what stills it. In joy and pain I consecrate my eyes and heart as your dwelling place.

Come turn back with me and close the gate quietly behind you.

Drive away another pain in my breast - this heart that longs for you.

Your brightness alone illuminates the tabernacle of my eyes - O fill it completely!.

  • The voice was soooo beautiful!!

and the sound seemed coming from her teeth :)

    I really enjoy this!!!

  • The voice was soooo beautiful!!

and the sound seemed coming from her teeth :)

    I really enjoy this!!!

  • Wunderschoene Jungfrau!

  • nice voice. sounds like the sound is being swallowed instead of being placed forward where the sound can be most resonant, though.

  • The breathing was not in time with the grammer... Also need more emphasis on the word Sehnsucht as it means longing. Otherwise not bad, relax your vocal muscles more though, when you were running out of breath it sounded gorgeous coz u didn't have enough energy to tense your muscles.

  • nice voice. although she's biting herself through the song by holding her teeth too tight. for me there's insufficient emotion.

  • i agree with installed pear sorry.. i sometimes resort to rolling my top up when i practice sing so i can use my diaphragm properly! i could never do it in a belt. but whatever she does its working :) this is perfect

  • this is such a pretty song..i am having to do this song for my private voice lessons.. good job :)

  • How does she breathe with that ridiculous belt on?

    Thought this sounded quite nasal...

  • @installedpear To sing classical pieces with both conviction and integrity, it has to be a little on the nasal side. It just means that she has gorgeous placement :) And if she were to sing it from the back of her throat, like a fat old lady opera singer, she'd have to chance to float "erhellt" the way she does-Some of her lower notes are too far back. You may not like it, but she's keeping it in the correct genre and i found this to be the best version of this song by far, but that's me :)

  • oh i love her voice.. someone please post another video of her... <3

  • love this we did this in a all women's choir i was in it brings back memories

  • i did this song last year. i love it so much

  • not true

  • When singing the 'R' is always rolled (German is my native language)

  • beautiful legatto

  • Beautiful interpretation, but a bit steady voice!

  • lyrics and translation, please!

  • You are peace,

    The mild peace,

    You are longing

    And what stills it.

    I consecrate to you

    Full of pleasure and pain

    As a dwelling here

    My eyes and heart.

  • Come live with me, And close quietly behind you the gates. Drive other pain Out of this breast May my heart be full With your pleasure. The tabernacle of my eyes by your radiance alone is illumined, O fill it completely!
  • If you listen to video response from MISTERMORNE you have the first verse on the screen. If you want the music and lyric, send me your e-mail adress and I will send it to you. By the way, the translation starts with You are peace ( You are rest literally).

  • An outstanding soprano ......wonderful expression! Bravo!

  • Wunderbar!

    Pure voice and beautiful interpretation.

    I love it!

  • Wonderful :) Perfect help for when I sing this in my exam in a few weeks time

  • ditto

  • Who is the pianiste ? His accompaniment is very good.

  • simply wonderful!

  • This is very very special. It builds so wonderfully to that moment at 3:05 where it leaps by a fourth, and the way she opens up her voice in such a subtle way makes it so much more incredible than the more obvious performances (for my taste). And beautifully sensitive piano playing. This is just such a thoughtful performance on top of all the other good points, like her voice, control, phrasing and colours etc....

  • Wow, almost flawless technique, and just one hiccup I find annoying. Definitely the best version so far on youtube both for the marvelous piano playing as well as the clarity of the recording.

She does the song alot of credit.

  • While I don't exactly agree with her vocal placement (its a bit too back and froggy, in search of another word, for me), her legato sound and constant breath support is outstanding and especially vital for this gorgeous piece! Bravo!

  • Why are we not getting more Schubert.s lieder from Sylvia Schwartz ? She is wonderful. Mgnifique. Wunderbar.

  • :) im singing this solo for my choir concert. i might not sound as beautiful as she, but i hope i come close. im practicing hard.

  • MMMmmmm. Lovely!

Especially liked the diction. (And the gorgeous voice, of course.) (And the musical interpretation.)

(And the evident enjoyment and naturalness in singing it.)

  • My Idol <3

  • best rendition of this song ive ever seen =D I'm doing this piece this year, and this will help a lot!! thank you!!

  • Seen?

  • Does anyone notice how much she looks like Amy Lee? Even though this is an entirely different genre of music, her voice is similar as well.

  • go catch coconuts.

  • What? I'm a bit confused by your "coconuts" comment... I'm assuming that you are also a fan of Sylvia Schwartz's rendition of this song, as I am. And I welcome your coconut comment... (confused look)

  • sorry, this is a brazilian expression xD take that as a joke

I meant to say she has nothing in common with amy lee, for god's sake. Maybe the face a little bit, but never the voice!

  • Ah I see...It is a mean expression... how interesting. I repect your opinion.

  • I just meant to say that she has nothing in common with amy lee xD maybe the face a bit, but never the voice !

  • Brava madame! Wonderful!

  • Heavenly song,heavenly voice,heavenly lady,congratulations.

  • I simply copy/paste "sagagossard"'s comments!!!

  • thanks!

  • Sylvia Schwartz, I am in love with your beautiful voice. You have enriched my life.

  • I love this piece. The piano does the good job. And the singer has such beautiful voice and she looks nice too. I'll add this one to my favourite list!

  • wonderful!!!

  • Wonderful, beautiful voice and excellent piano accompaniment. Sylvia Schwartz and the accompanist, post more lieders please, please.Wo is the accompanist?

  • Her voice is very refined. Very beautiful.

  • she's so lovely..her voice tu omg...fantastic voice

  • Just wonderful. One of my favorite pieces of all time, and superbly sung.

Thank you so much for posting!

    Duke

  • TOLL!!!!!!

  • Brava Sylvia!!!

  • This was the song that introduced me to Schubert lieder. Sung by Elizabeth Schumann, in fact (still glorious). The most beautiful love song I know. Sylvia Schwartz has a fabulous voice, and sings naturally and very sweetly.

  • sehr schön
