I can't count how many times I've watched this. She is so exceptional and this is the best version I have ever heard. I love her expressions, the way she is in another world when she sings. What a true performer. I have seen other videos of her.
I have listened to at least a dozen other interpretations of this song by the so called best Schubert sopranos today and from the past and none of them come even close to the purity and brilliance of this rendition. Peerless.

@lelourd Hahaha, Ich bin mir sogar sicher!
I can't decide who is better in my opinion, she or Ms. Fleming. Her control over her voice and mouth movements that enhance & punctuate the pronunciations are amazing. But Ms. Fleming's voice has been a favorite of mine for years.
One of my favorite pieces of all time, spectacularly done. Bravo, Ms. Schwartz. <3

The breathing was not in time with the grammer... Also need more emphasis on the word Sehnsucht as it means longing. Otherwise not bad, relax your vocal muscles more though, when you were running out of breath it sounded gorgeous coz u didn't have enough energy to tense your muscles.
i agree with installed pear sorry.. i sometimes resort to rolling my top up when i practice sing so i can use my diaphragm properly! i could never do it in a belt. but whatever she does its working :) this is perfect
@installedpear To sing classical pieces with both conviction and integrity, it has to be a little on the nasal side. It just means that she has gorgeous placement :) And if she were to sing it from the back of her throat, like a fat old lady opera singer, she'd have to chance to float "erhellt" the way she does-Some of her lower notes are too far back. You may not like it, but she's keeping it in the correct genre and i found this to be the best version of this song by far, but that's me :)
Come live with me, And close quietly behind you the gates. Drive other pain Out of this breast May my heart be full With your pleasure. The tabernacle of my eyes by your radiance alone is illumined, O fill it completely!
If you listen to video response from MISTERMORNE you have the first verse on the screen. If you want the music and lyric, send me your e-mail adress and I will send it to you. By the way, the translation starts with You are peace ( You are rest literally).
This is very very special. It builds so wonderfully to that moment at 3:05 where it leaps by a fourth, and the way she opens up her voice in such a subtle way makes it so much more incredible than the more obvious performances (for my taste). And beautifully sensitive piano playing. This is just such a thoughtful performance on top of all the other good points, like her voice, control, phrasing and colours etc....
Wow, almost flawless technique, and just one hiccup I find annoying. Definitely the best version so far on youtube both for the marvelous piano playing as well as the clarity of the recording.
While I don't exactly agree with her vocal placement (its a bit too back and froggy, in search of another word, for me), her legato sound and constant breath support is outstanding and especially vital for this gorgeous piece! Bravo!
What? I'm a bit confused by your "coconuts" comment... I'm assuming that you are also a fan of Sylvia Schwartz's rendition of this song, as I am. And I welcome your coconut comment... (confused look)
I love this piece. The piano does the good job. And the singer has such beautiful voice and she looks nice too. I'll add this one to my favourite list!
Wonderful, beautiful voice and excellent piano accompaniment. Sylvia Schwartz and the accompanist, post more lieders please, please.Wo is the accompanist?
This was the song that introduced me to Schubert lieder. Sung by Elizabeth Schumann, in fact (still glorious). The most beautiful love song I know. Sylvia Schwartz has a fabulous voice, and sings naturally and very sweetly.
This is just heavenly beautiful.

Musik: Franz Peter Schubert, 31. Jänner 1797 – 19. November 1828
Voll sei dies Herz, Von deiner Lust. Dies Augenzelt, Von deinem Glanz, Allein erhellt, O füll es ganz.

Your brightness alone illuminates the tabernacle of my eyes - O fill it completely!.
