@violinhunter2 Thanks, but the following shows on Google about him:
is a French conductor of classical music, especially known for his interpretations of French Baroque works. His mother is American, and his father was Alexandre Minkowski, a Polish......
Rameau, Minkowski, Les musiciens du Louvre ~ its difficult to imagine anything at all better in any way, different, perhaps, but IMHO, none better. One of those rarer alignments of personnel which are memorable for a lifetime.
I've always thought Rameau needs stronger press in the Musicologic Tomes - that Lutheran Saxon to the North getting far too much reverence ~
Rameau is way up there, if not over, that Saxon Dude :-)
Rameau is alive now through Mr. Marc Minkowski. i love the musical humor of Mr. Minko. he is so brilliant and exciting. i love him so much, i thank you Marc Minkowski
yikes why did i get THREE negative ratings simply for mentioning Casanova?
You'd think the more publicity a classical piece gets, the better.... even if it IS in a sappy romantic summer flick. And I am saying this as a BIG fan of Rameau.
@2marieantoinette Unfortunately, Marc Minkowski is a french conductor born in Paris (France)) from a father Prof Alexandre Minkowski himself a french specialist of neonatality born in Paris too and a mother Anne Wade a translator with USA origins.
But certainly Marc Minkowski ancestors were polish. France gave shelter to many Polish refugees during its history and at the beginning of the WW2 was almost the only nation to fight against Nazis defending the Polland rights. Do you remenber?
@LordMSh No, Marc Minkovski's father, Alexandre Minkovski was french and born in Paris (December 5th of 1915). He maried Mary Wade originated from the USA. Both of them were psychiatrists. Marc Minkovski's grand father, Eugeniusz Minkovski a psychiatrist too, born in Saint Petersburg, Russia (1885). He was the second son of Augustes Minkovski an emigrate polish in Russia but he preserved his former nationality. Eugeniusz owed to emigrate in Austria due his polish revolutionary friendship.
Minkowski has the most enviable job in the world - how lucky can one man get? Hard work and by the Grace of God....

What a courageous, creative mind, Rameau. For the Baroque period, the first 10 seconds of the overture are quite different...

Ce chef est un peu extrême dans ses tempi, mais ses musiciens sont toujours excellents et bien dirigés. J'adore !
