@lazydullard Funny you should say that. I find this method difficult to use slowly. You have to be a decent runner to really apply this method as it requires a bit of spee dto execute. You need to be a decent runner to run with this method. It is not very user friendly for those jogging slow trying to build up endurance and shed a few
Great video! Besides that, Pose Method has been helpful all my life, it has helped me reduce my injuries, improve my times, and help me feel physically better and mentally ready for my next races. I find it funny that funknup talks about how expensive Pose is when Pose isn't expensive for what you learn from it, its a life changing experience, and all he talks about is how great Newton shoes are. First off the shoes are expensive and second, shoes don't make you better, you make yourself better.
I live on Sydney's Lower Nth Shore and there's hills in every direction. How can you run hills using the Pose method. Say a 1:5 to 1:6 slope. Especially the descent. Can't wait to try it out in Centennial park on a flat run to try and get the technique to work. If I could run a sub-40 10km off the bike, I'd be ecstatic.
So...the three key concepts of pose running are the pose, foot under hip and falling forward. So basically like normal running technique but the word "normal" is replaced with the word "pose"?
@lollobojo ever heard "don't hate the players, hate the game?" And you obviously don't know much about either Pirie's work or Pose Running. The only thing in common is striking with forefoot oppose to heelstrike.
I have read Pirie's book, I think that is enough to form an educated opinion, if not a flawless one. You are right though in the sense that I refuse to invest time into Pose running (or Chi Running, or Evolution running). The sheer fact that there are now numerous running 'schools' that all claim to have the key to perfect, injury free running form (while selling pricey DVDs and workshops) makes their claim not credible.
I am quite in line with the emphasis on good posture, midfoot striking and not overstriding, which you find in Evolution Running, Chi Running etc. as well as Pose. But the problem I have with the clip is that if you watch the runners during the slow-mo part, you can see that they are not pulling their feet up under their hips at all, their feet are clearly rising up behind them. So is the 'pose' more about how it should feel to you when running, than about how it looks to an observer?
@cjt5mith Look up Usain Bolt Easy Running. He was born running with the Pose Method and he probably doesn't even know he using the Pose Method, but look at that video and you will see his feet aren't under the hips either. It's probably how it should feel, easy and simple.
@JoeCavy4 Efficient running learned via Pose method is not just about buying minimalistic shoes and hit the road. You got the understand the Pose concept which is all about understanding the forces acting upon the body when running and how to deal with them in the smartest way. About how to prepare your feet, core etc. and about developing correct perceptions of movement. Popular easy made statements like; "land forefoot", or "take of your shoes and run", won't work for most of us. Happy running
Nowadays, as a response to the barefoot- and the more natural (minimalistic) running hype, lots of new methods are invented and marketed. The pose method of running (although not too busy with smart marketing), has been telling about the benefits of barefoot running, minimalistic shoe wear, landing under the body (forefoot ) etc, etc. for óver 30 years. It has been ridiculed and ignored for years, but seems commonly accepted since the outcome of "Born to run" and the Lieberman study.
this is good for any fat people trying to run. much less pain in my knees, no more in my ankles.

One important thing that many beginners like me tend to miss:
Keeping ankle under tension and dorsiflexing.
Fix: Keep ankle floppy and fire hamstrings only.

POSE is just a marketing gimmick.
Gordon Pirie wrote the basics of good running form many years ago. Just google "Running fast and injury free" to see for yourself.

And, of course, I do run myself.

@cjt5mith It's about how you should direct your actions and efforts when running and what not to do in order not to waste energy.

@funknup I totally agree that running is not Religion. Glad we share something in common ;-). It's okay to disagree, happens often.
