@ the comment below me!! Who gives a Fuck. The guy played this with amazment!! Enjoy the accomplishment of it. When i see people do feats like this, it is awe inspiring to see someone play at such a level. How wonderful the good things people can do, when they try are enough.
Not that i wish to insult the person playing, but this piece doesn't sound very good on the organ(Especially when compared to it being played on a grand piano)

Guow.... es increible la versatilidad que pueden tener, mientras que unos los utilizan solo para patear..... si me entienden...éste los utiliza para interpretar este fabuloso estudio de Chopin que es uno de mis favoritos.... From a technical standpoint this is amazing and I'm truly impressed. I only wish the f-minor section from 1:15 - 1:24 translated better to organ. On the piano, a talented artist can use just the right amount of sustain to create this amazing swelling effect that sends chills down my spine, and as far as I know you can't duplicate that on an organ, which is disappointing. I love all keyboard instruments, and each one has its advantages.
oh adn how come there are so many comments on his homosexuality here? if it were anyone else, there wouldnt be anything. people need to grow up. and accept each others differences.
is it me or is this guy actually playing with his feet? thats cool. dude, if he played this on a pipe organ at church he would be quite the paradox. that would be pretty cool.
I'm torn over CC. I don't care for his overt celebration of his homosexuality (and no, I'm not a homophobe, quite a few of my friends are gay), his dress sense is appalling (I mean, Freddie Mercury plus sequins in a church?) and his preference for electronic imitation organs incomprehensible... but by God he can play!
@EccentricRichard I agree. CC can play, and play very well indeed. I dislike specifically how his musical style and playing has become wrapped up in his sexual preference.
As for the electronic imitations, some sound fairly nice, if not close to the real deal itself. Hauptwerk would be a better example of this. But that still doesn't beat the thrill and feel of a masterfully crafted and played pipe organ. Perhaps CC's musical tastes and preferences will change as he gets older.
I think this was a very faithful execution of the original piano piece, and I am thoroughly impressed by the extensive footwork. The liberties taken in tempo that SteveFallon1 seems to abhor actually fits right into the Romantic Era which this came from, as liberties with tempo were commonplace. It also lives up to the piece's original intent as a demonstration of the capabilities of an instrument and its player, and it worked even better for an instrument it was never intended for.
@tnick777 Lol, as a proud gay musician myself (vocalist, organist, pianist), I am almost offended at first, BUT, really, if you look at all the greatest musicians and composers and had to put a label on us, then yes, we homos are the most natural artistic flowers that get noticed, thank you! :D
@artieness I'm actually surprised how many gay organists there are, myself and acouple of fairly close friends have both been paid by churches to play, I'm also friggin camp as tits and wear more glitter than this kid
@WarriorOfWriters Too true. Not an organist myself but through bellringing I know TONS of gay choristers and organists (and a few vicars too....). The church has a serious wealth of good music which attracts musical people of whatever persuasion.
@tnick777 _ I was also a little offended at first at your HE MUST BE GAY statement. But then there are all types of people in this world. Look at yourself first before you make off-the-cuff remarks about others. You might be in a group of "weird" people yourself. You must be rude but you'll learn.
Musically speaking, it's not very good. Because you can get sounds out of an instrument that does not mean that you can play any sort of music on that instrument. At best, this is a very high quality demonstration of the organ's features. At worst, it is butchery. What happened to tempo? to rests? to note values? This sounds like Chopin's etude fell down the stairs.
@SteveFallon1 musically speaking, this instrument is just not very good for playing chopin etudes on it :-) it's simply made for different kind of music - yes, much simpler and more accessible from european classical tradition's point of view, but music nonetheless :-) implying that blues/jazz/rock/whatever else uses organ is somehow less of a music than Chopin is even more ignorant than thinking this was a good idea to play chopin on an electric organ :-)
@SteveFallon1 SIGH, what happened to proper etiquette? Didn't your parents teach you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all? Sorry, you did imply one nice thing about organ demonstration. However, like getting singled out and pulled over by the highway patrol for speeding, I am going to lay into you oh humble commenter; Chopin falling down the stairs my buttocks!! If you had half such talent to play this "correctly as intended on a proper piano" then by all means show us oh wise one!
@SteveFallon1 The reason comments like yours piss me off is that by all means, compared to lots of amateur musicians that post their true train wrecks on YT, Cameron's interpretation is far from such calameties! His tempo was quite brilliant as he carried the interpretation with virtuostic verve! If you know nothing about appreciation, simply hold your tongue and walk away.
@SteveFallon1 I think it sounded pretty good. I like the sound better on a piano, though. But that doesn't mean this is not musically good. I still heard quite a bit of emotion in it. Just because it's not your exact, specific interpretation of the song doesn't mean it's not good.
@SteveFallon1 It's brilliant. Technically amazing and a lot of fun. Take the stick out of your *ss and enjoy something for a change instead of acting all superior. Cheers, J
@SteveFallon1 Musically speaking you just made yourself look like a fool.
You don't get a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Juilliard without being a musician.
And musically speaking it's called artistic expression and interpretation. Musicians do it ALL the time. That's actually how you learn an instrument the best! You take what other people have written and you play it and then change it up and then you play more and more people's work and finally come up with your own twist on them. FAIL
@SteveFallon1 not very good?.... sounds out of an instrument? Clearly, you don't see the world as I do. I wouldn't call this 'music'. I wouldn't call this 'performance' and I certainly wouldn't call this a 'concert'.
To me, this is an exhibition of human capability far beyond the means of nearly every other human on earth.
@182krishna Well, it's interesting, of course. For a change I can listen to classical music in modern interpretation:-). This performance is really breathtaking, very virtuosically done, but I still prefer this etude played on the piano which the genius of Chopin meant ,and in tuxedo instead of this modern sparking stuff:-) Sorry, otherwise it's just pop to me:-)
This is called Showmanship! It's something that classical performances once had but now sadly lack. The demeanor of a classical concert is now like attending worship. Sit perfectly still and act if absolutely nothing were happening on stage.
A lot of people can play the organ, but Cameron Carpenter puts on a show. So does Carlo Curley.
@ybravura yeah, you're right, great performers don't need to put up a show just to satisfy the masses. We are here to appreciate the music, not the virtuosity or showmanship.
@Tollermensch Actually, music is music. What if someone had said the same thing to Ravel before scoring Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" for orchestra? Well, not that strange that the pedal pipes don't get enough air. This is a digital organ. No pipes at all! Just console, computers and speakers. No matter how good these "canned" organs get, it only takes a few seconds to hear that something isn't right.
Nothing wrong with Mr Carpenters playing though. He is technically skilled and his unconventional style attracts audiences that otherwise would never have listened to the organ at all. Perhaps they will discover the world of organ music...
