Every comment i ever read about this band suggests they must have poor publicity agents, it's all well i never knew, gosh is it the same band ? What a 40 year back catalog to be re-discovered, perhaps because they are American musicians who lived and absorbed 1970's Brit. pop then returned to USA they've always fallen between two stools, and terribly under-exposed.

They recorded this album producing themselves in Los Angeles in 1995 called Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins. Sparks always influence and accept influence but are so unique as we all know. Find and enjoy the Telex album Sex (Birds And Bees) for a great collaboration.

Excellent video for an excellent song. The video has nothing to do with the lyrics, it is building on the Maels stage and previous video antics of Ron Mael being the bizarre guy in the background with Russel the nice looking front-man.

BTW - Petshop Boys (among others) borrowed heavily from this style in their stage and video act.

BTW - in real life and contrary to the video, "My Way" was written by Paul Anka, who was and still is also a big stage star and not an obscured backstage guy.

Nobody ever notices him, he just waits in the queue or gets jobs like mawing the lawn. Nothing in the lyrics tells a story of rivalry. The people who say "who are you?" might be people auditioning him. Nothing to do with paparazzis or fans.
