  • cools :)

is from the grade 5+ 6 book ?? it sounds like a nice peice to learn ( im currently learning grade 8 peices at the moment too ) i might have a go at it

you look to really be enjoyin yourself :) i always practice peices at my school on xylo and everyone says im just showing off ... im not i just love playin xylophone ! xD

    well played :)

  • Yeah, don't stop moving! "Don't play the instrument, play the music!"

  • You played very well but I do not like this arrangement...it is over complicated and makes the marimba sound clunky...if anything it shoulda been arranged like that for concert xylophone. Otherwise good job hunni

  • Thanks! This arrangement was ment for xylophone, but I played other pieces on the marimba that day. I've also heard professional recordings of this tune on marimba, so I figured I'd have a go. Its a familir and entertaining tune for the folks at the retirment home. (:

  • is this from the book raggedy ragtime rags?

  • why yes it is!

  • Nice job! What arrangement of the piece is this? Ever since I heard Evelyn Glennie playing this I've been wanting to transcribe it but this is almost as good!

  • nice wow

i never knew that was possible...

    ur amazing

  • Also, does every marimba play kick their feet like that? I've been trying to break that habit, and because of that I've started noticing a bunch of percussionists (especially mallet players) that do it.

    >.>

  • Its a fun quwerk of mine. Don't break the habit! Its more fun to move around and "dance" you play. My college professors encuraged the movement- becuase its more exciting then just standing there like a statue. I get alot of my performance "moves" from my drumcorps/WGI pit expierence. Besides, I hear that Kieko Abe jumps around like a maniac when she plays! (;

  • Yeah, but she is a different breed of cat altogether.

Oh, I've been trying to break the habit of moving around without being able to help myself, if that makes sense.

Once I can stop myself from doing it (so I know I'm in control), I'll let myself do it.

And maybe I will do it. And maybe I'll finally post a video of me playing something...

  • Very nice job. I was thinking about learning this, but one of my friends (plays clarinet and saxophone, little bit of piano) was having some serious trouble with it so I decided to hold off until after I finished with my college audition stuff.

  • Go for it! Its a fun piece.

  • LOL, that's like playing a big piano with only 2 fingers, good instrument to have fun, but only for that

  • The marimba is a huge and popular instrument in the percussion world these days, its not just for fun, and is used in many different kinds of performance ensembles- from drum and bugle corps to concert wind ensembles.

  • ya, its a lot more difficult than piano actually and people have used up to 6 mallets on it... In fact, ive seen literature for marimba so difficult that even pianists would have trouble with it even though they have usually 6 more viable striking devices (4 is the common practice use although most people start on 2 most people that learn 4 dont understand that 2 can be just as challenging)

  • There is a guy from the Netherlands called Ludwig Albert who plays with 8 Mallets. But he is crazy.

  • Remember... life is just one crushing feat after another until you just wish Flanders was dead.

  • way too much fun..... that tickled me pink

    thanks

  • thats so crazy that instrument has such sick sound and u make it 10x better ure amazing

  • Sweet!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent job!

  • Thank you, very much!
