Season 2 looked to be insane with the Apocalypse storyline, AND Colossus and Deadpool were going to be on the show (the former being a full-fledged team member)! Did they cancel it because of low ratings/viewing numbers, or what?
In my opinion, this was the best Marvel animation to date. It's depressing that the second season didn't go through, especially since we were /told/ it was happening, and even got to see promo pictures. I recently read an interview, one of the writers explaining some of what was planned for Emma Frost in the second season. She was going return (as expected by the comic fans), and cause a love triangle between Scott, Jean, and herself. Would have been amazing. At least the show ended good though.
It was really unnessary to rerelease this for the umpteent time. Why dont you people invest in a second season instead of trying to leach of the creativity of this show to induce people into re-purchasing rehashed versions of products theyve allready bought.

Disney have no creative control over Marvel. Disney also own Miramax which made films like Kill Bill, but you dont see Mickey Mouse killing people in that.

The X MEN redifined the concept of Superheroes in the 90s. Heck they redifined the 90s, back then everything was about The X Men, that's why the first movie came out back in 2000.

The Avengers as a whole have had one cartoon together and have only just now gotten another one. Sure some of the characters may have had (mediocre) cartoons on their own once or twice. And Marvels just now giving them some attention because they've got the huge team up movie on the way.

I think Marvel might be testing the waters with this DVD/Blue-Ray. If the sales are really good, I think they might revive the show, because Marvel animation would see that there is a very high demand. I would encourage a lot of people to by this, because it was indeed a very very good show.
i gotta say, this is probably my favorite voice acting for wolverine, since he is SPIKE from cowboy bebop, and the same wolverine voice from ultimate alliance =3 my opinion though
Interesting series, it's shame gone. While I know I'll catch some flank for this, I'd have to say the weakest part being Wolverine himself. His characterization was all over and he was forced into every single little thing, even if he shouldn't be involved. Really, Wolverine's Mary Sue qualities shine brightest in this series and what bother me most is he is a hypocrite. With that said, pretty much way they handled every other plot line and majority of the characters, plus epi. I'll miss it.

Wolverine is an interesting character & can work well with his own series, but being popular alone doesn't excuse the show of it's faults. @PrimeofPerfection Drawbacks to Wolverine being so popular: Three shitty X-men movies that focused around him being a foot taller then he should be. A shitty spin-off movie that made no sense. An X-men cartoon that focused around him leading, something that should never happen. Giving him a gay son. Letting him live when all the good (but less popular) characters die. Letting him be a main member of the Avengers instead of just a loner who pitches in when he's in town.

@PrimeofPerfection But that's what they always do. Frankly, he gets his ass handed to him a lot but no one seems to realize that. He himself said it would be pretty easy to kill him and Deadpool almost killed him (in a classic Batman type death trap) until his gay son came and rescued him.
I think the second season was canceled because they seem to be doing a Greater Marvel Animated Universe, similarly to how they did the movies. Maybe we'll see a new Spider-Man and X-Men, considering we're getting a brand new Iron Man in The Avenger's: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. At least, that's what I hope is going on here. I really did enjoy this series, and it saddens me that they won't be doing the Rise of Apocalypse. But the ride was fun while it lasted.

It was a good show, but I would've loved 2 have seen where it was going to go! That apocalypse w/ what looks like scott or probably their kid but test-tubed when sinister took scott & jean's dna samples. Oh well, another great series marvel dropped! hmm, black panther in the states, hmm!

You've gotta be kidding me Earth Mightiest Heroes is the only series the Avengers ever gotten in 60 years if you do not count the AUTS aka West Coast Avengers.
The X MEN redifined the concept of Superheroes in the 90s. Heck they redifined the 90s, back then everything was about The X Men, that's why the first movie came out back in 2000.
Dr. Strage is way less popular yet he's a very important character in Marvel universe and has never ever gotten his own series aside the recent animated movie.

The Avengers as a whole have had one cartoon together and have only just now gotten another one. Sure some of the characters may have had (mediocre) cartoons on their own once or twice. And Marvels just now giving them some attention because they've got the huge team up movie on the way.

Media-wise there have been 3 xmen movies, 1 spinoff and several cartoon series. What more do you want?

But I think 3 animated series several movies and games and different comic series starring them, what more could they have done to put a higher priority. The fact that all those things came BEFORE any avengers cartoons or movies should say enough.

I think Marvel might be testing the waters with this DVD/Blue-Ray. If the sales are really good, I think they might revive the show, because Marvel animation would see that there is a very high demand. I would encourage a lot of people to by this, because it was indeed a very very good show.

Interesting series, it's shame gone. While I know I'll catch some flank for this, I'd have to say the weakest part being Wolverine himself. His characterization was all over and he was forced into every single little thing, even if he shouldn't be involved. Really, Wolverine's Mary Sue qualities shine brightest in this series and what bother me most is he is a hypocrite. With that said, pretty much way they handled every other plot line and majority of the characters, plus epi. I'll miss it.

Wolverine is an interesting character & can work well with his own series, but being popular alone doesn't excuse the show of it's faults. An X-men cartoon that focused around him leading, something that should never happen. Giving him a gay son. Letting him live when all the good (but less popular) characters die. Letting him be a main member of the Avengers instead of just a loner who pitches in when he's in town.

@PrimeofPerfection But that's what they always do. Frankly, he gets his ass handed to him a lot but no one seems to realize that. He himself said it would be pretty easy to kill him and Deadpool almost killed him (in a classic Batman type death trap) until his gay son came and rescued him.

I think the second season was canceled because they seem to be doing a Greater Marvel Animated Universe, similarly to how they did the movies. Maybe we'll see a new Spider-Man and X-Men, considering we're getting a brand new Iron Man in The Avenger's: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. At least, that's what I hope is going on here. I really did enjoy this series, and it saddens me that they won't be doing the Rise of Apocalypse. But the ride was fun while it lasted.
