I am gay and was raised christian . when the subject of homosexuality came up i would cringe in fear i prayed every night that i would wake up and be str8, But it never happened. I began to h8 god and lost my faith, your chanel has 1ce again sparked my faith and given me hope thank u 4m the bottom of my heart
I'm very confused :/ I'm gay and christain the way you guys put it it kinda sounds like your taken big chances wouldnt you rather be safer than sorry?
I'm a gay man and a Christian. It's wierd, but nobody I know has read more books about Christianity. I'm convinced that homosexuality isn't the end of the world! On the other hand, promiscuity and over the top Gay Pride floats aren't a good idea....Sigh, I wish I could meet a decent gay Christian. I'm so lonely! We're such a miniscule minority.......Oh well...... sigh
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14 Stick to the light and the truth which is Jesus
I wish to bring everyone to Christ. So my heart breaks at the thought of a gay friend I once had, quite the kindest person ever, full of Christian potential, who hated God for the condemnation of gays in the Bible. And he, so far as I know, represents countless thousands of gays. I tried to explain to him that these passages are few, brief, and vague. The Church is full of gays. And there are legitimate ways to get around these unfortunate verses. But he was already too much hurt to listen.
Dude. Not cool. I wasn't VERY shocked to know that there was gay sex back then but I was VERY shocked that men had sex with boys on the side..... Weirdness. I eman, be with someone your OWN age. This word comparison was CONFUSING I was playing connect the word so that i could understand and I was like whoa! I'm going NUTS trying to keep up with the differences. It blew my mind!!! My head hurts! Especially when you had them lined up right next to each other :O This video is educational AND funny!
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
There's increasing debate about Romans 1: 24-28. It focused mainly on the acts of those who had fallen away from the church and back to pegan faiths. Paul stated that women and men abandoned the "natural use" for each other. But Paul seemed to have a somewhat dubious take on what was natural as is seen in 1 Cor. 11:13-15 suggesting that nature taught that long hair to a woman was a "glory" but a "disgrace" to a man. But I hope Justin has a discussion on Romans sometime in the near future! :-)
well what about romans? i mean im a gay christian and i find everything you are saying very useful, but there still is the issue with romans. i mean it clearly says that being gay is an "unrighteous act."
Thanks so much for your videos. I was thinking about emailing you about the same scripture because it's one that no one has ever really explained. It was a lot of help! I really appreciate your compassion for other gay Christians and your courage to step out and help them. Keep making videos!
The continuing debate surrounding human sexuality in and amongst some in Christian circles is so 20th century. Why not spend important time considering ways in which ALL are welcome to Christ's table in the here and now. Move on..and get on with mission.
You know in Corinthians it also states that women are not allowed to speak in church, that they should remain submissive to their husband. Yet this obviously doesn't happen. Another example of mistranslation. Interesting how some religious folks will admit to mistranslation for certain things, yet rail against it on other things.
@mark40511 Actually, we don't believe that this is a mistranslation, but simply an example of how some rules in the Bible are merely cultural and some are not. When asked "Where does the Bible approve of gays?" we would respond "Where does the Bible approve of women praying with the heads uncovered?" The response to THAT is often, "Yeah, but those laws about not eating shrimp and men not having long hair were just cultural. Homosexuality is different." And we say, "prove it."
@GayChristianNetwork How can you be a celibate gay christian? It confusing. You lust after the same sex yet don't act on the temptations. Please explain?
@mark40511 Many people overlook that after it says women should be submissive to their husbands, (Ephesians 5:24), it says that the men should love their wives as Christ loved the Church. (Ephesians 5:24-33)
@GayChristianNetwork im excited bout it too.. we are goin to discuss Romans in seminary soon.. i know the first chapter would be understood literally.. GBU GCN!
Thanks for posting these videos. I found them today while doing some Google searching. I must say I appreciate your time and thorough explanations. Your insight is very welcome. I am sharing these with my MtF fiancee as well.
Also, I must admit I giggled at your reaction to the pederasty image which showed up aside you. Very cute.
As a gay Christian I must say that it is full time believers in Christ STOP taking the complete bible as gospel. The gospel of Jesus is from Matthew -St. John and no where in the Gospel Jesus went about condemning people for their sexuality. St. Paul I believe also DID NOT do such a thing, but we as believers in Christ ought not to waste time pondering on vague terms used by a follower of Jesus that some today choose to use to support their hatred for others. God knows us by our good fruits.
Arsenokoitis is also mentioned in Byzantine times. It referred to both boy prostitutes whose 'johns" were usually married, heterosexual men, but also to girls who allowed themselves to be sodomized as prostitutes.
Great video Justin. Thank God someone if taking a common sense approach to how best address these issues and present them in a professional manner. Thank you GCN.
Homosexual was first coined in the late 1800's and doesn't appear in my Bible. It however is in some versions of the Bible, first in about 1942. There is not a word the original languages of the Bible.-- Hebrew or Koine Greek (which isn't spoken today) for homosexual any attempt to put it in there is wrong and shows the bias and agenda that the translators want to put forth.
Can you tell me what body of water did Moses part? Red Sea or the Sea of Reeds?
Great video as usual. However, it is full time people stop viewing the entire bible as GOSPEL! The Gospel of Jesus is from Matthew - John.
St Paul was a champion for today's Christians, BUT his words are NOT final, Jesus' words are final and if Jesus DID NOT condemn gays throughout His journey, why should we concern ourselves with a vague term put forward by a follower of Jesus. Paul himself said many times that he is just a follower, so it's full time Christians FOCUS on Jesus and NOT others!!!
I loved this video I really feel supported whenever I watch them and makes me feel better of being a gay christian. and the Romans passage is so beautiful
Good and informative. Thanks. Most suicidal youth I have worked with are Christians that have had the Bible used against them. They feel conflicted, abandoned, and immoral.
That was excellent. I look forward to more videos. You did exactly what I did. As a straight Christian female, I am now a supporter of Gay rights because I researched many of the key passages. I loved this video.
@gaychristiannetwork- Offenders- (in Biblical use) to cause to fall into sinful ways.
Now I'm trying to connect this meaning of the word next to homosexual. It's kind of confusing.
