this song just popped in my mind, and i went to the computer....then found this song, and was transported back in time. And who said the 80's sucked anyway?
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It brings me back to high school when there were no worries and life was awesome....wish I could go back to that mental space in my head.
totally underrated song. Saw Eddie at the old Crystal Palace in 1987 at Crystal beach Ontario. It was an awesome gig of about 700 people. He didn't play this song but this is a true rock classic. If I were a dj I would play this at least once a week.
this is one of the true great rock classics that never really got the recognition that it deserved, hope parents & grand parents play this for their kids & grandkids,,,,,, love to read the comments from younger people that appreciate the music that we were brought up with. Rock on!!!,,, & pass it on
Thank you, mrfunderful, for putting this together and posting it. Your effort allows me to hear songs like this one, songs that meant a great deal for a great many reasons. One of EM's best, taking me back to MY personal Trinidad and making me smile. Thirty years is a long time, but thankfully the really special memories stay with us.

Wow... Winter of 1980-81. Trying to escape the brutal cold on Friday nights, but just to cool to stay home. I was 17 and thought I knew everything I would need... Great memories.
@xxmickeyzeroxx yeah, i posted a response a while back on the mistake in the lyrics. at the time, i was unable to find decent lyrics on the internet for this song, so i am well aware of the mistake. thanks again!
Shortly after this was released i heard a live concert on the radio and taped it on my old reel to reel. I'll have to try and find it because it's longer than the original with a beautiful extended guitar solo that brings tears to your eyes by Jimmie Lion. To this day i'll take Jimmie's melodic perfect tone and phrasing over any of the shredding wannabes. Thanks
Yeah, if you find that tape with the extended version, by all means post it. I'd love to hear that longer guitar solo. You're now the second person to mention its existence and the anticipation is killing me. *laugh*
To tikigolf. The double neck guitar Jimmy used on Trinidad was made by Ken Fidkin here in California. Ken made the body and the 12-string mandolin scale neck, the six string neck was a spare 62' strat neck Jimmy had laying around. It was finished in sunburst. Thanks for the interest. When Jimmy was living with me in the early 80s we had 60 to 70 guitars and basses between us. This is when I played bass for Jimmy in the Jimmy Lion Band.
To Ken5244. Jimmy did become a pilot and is living in Georgia. You can find out what Jimmy is up to by google and finding his web page. He is also on facebook. He just recently started working on a recording project. I ended up with the double neck guitar Jimmy used when he performed Trinidad live. He also used it on one of his original songs in the Jimmy Lyon Band. Thanks for your interest. Ralph
Thanks for the info, Ralph. I checked out JL's Web page and look forward to hearing what he comes up with. He's too good to not be putting out music. I know I'm not unique in saying this, but his solo in the original "Two Tickets to Paradise" (the album version) still knocks me out. His phrasing just floored me, not to mention his choice of notes -- brilliant.
Out of curiosity, what make/model of double-neck did you 'inherit' from Jimmy?
@sorani1950 That is a VERY cool guitar. I was just telling my wife about it the other day. Jimmy did a great job of rounding up all those vintage Fender components and having them installed in, as I describe it, a custom "morphed-out" Strat body by a luthier in Texas. I remember seeing Jimmy playing this song live with Eddie on the old, "Fridays," TV Show back in the late 70's/early 80's. I wish someone would post that video.
I saw Eddie perform trinidad at a very small club in New Hampshire ( Hampton Beach's Club Casino ) in the late 80's
Trinidad was one of the encores. The band performed flawlessly that night ! Something about a small venue and an awesome sound engineer that makes a difference. Eddie and the band were right on that night and Trinidad was an awesome encore !
Jimmy Is still a great guitar player and is vastly underrated. I started playing with Jimmy when he was just 16. I then played bass for him in the early 80's when he left Eddie Money and started the Jimmy Lyon Band.
Agreed. It wasn't a "big hit" as kblopp said -- it was a minor AOR hit and disappeared from playlists rather quickly. I only heard it once or twice back in the day (in major market Southern California).
DudleyMMoore posted a comment below saying there's a single around with a longer guitar solo by Jimmy Lyon. God, I'd love to get that. If anyone can point me in the right direction (link or whatever), please do. Talk about "underrated" -- Jimmy was (is?) a terrific guitarist.
This and "Call On Me" are my two most favorite songs of Eddie Money's! I was finally able to have one of my "must do before I die" things and met him this past July! It was great...just too bad it wasn't 20 years ago! :D Thanks for posting!!! 5 stars for you!

I miss Eddie Spagetti, Jimmy and Chris. Check out the live version of this song ( Not the one one u tuibe ). There is a single around that has a longer solo by Jimmy Lyon.
My brotha and I are patiently listening to this most awesome song. We can describe in words how underrated Eddie Money truly is. Catch him in Cleveland in the rock n roll hall of fame b/c he is what I thoroughly enjoy calling him, "bad!@#" ....nuff said!
Okay, yes this is a great song. I remember buying this - his third LP - back in the, well whatever that year was way back when. The song sounds really good even now, an that's always the mark of a great tune. But... what's the deal with that picture? Is that what Eddie looks like today? Oh my, I just googled him and YES, that is what Eddie looks like today. Eddie!? Bro!? You're freakin' loaded my man. Get a trainer. NOW! Ahhhh, he still Rocks!
I saw him back up Heart back in the 70s. I t was a great double show. I had forgetten all about this song. I mailed to my freind in Russia. She LOVED IT> Thanks for the post. Great song.
I saw him a few years ago at Santa Cruz Beach summer Friday night concerts...he put on a good show, did most of his songs; I even stuck around for the second set. Didn't get a good view of the stage though, I sat out on the sand, back from the 3000 people crowded in front of the stage

Ok, you can't trust these song lyrics from the internet and since I don't have the CD...I am making a correction on the lyrics.
Instead of 'By the wind'... I have learned that it could be 'Ride the wind'.
So, there ya go... Possible mistake corrected.
