  • I'm sorry, sweetheart. Had no idea you were on the rag. I'll send you some flowers.

  • nothing left

  • Classic

  • thumbs up for those who heard this before Tupac?

  • i always say that EPMD were ahead of their time with the samples they chose. this Joe Cocker sample was slept on back then but fast forward 6 years later in '95 "California Love" is a big hit. i honestly believe if EPMD waited a few years they would have been huge outside of rap, but theyre still rap legends & pioneers

  • @Drezyful so true its not even funny

  • guys used to put thought into lyrics

  • Woah, that's a tough IROC and a tough Benzo.

  • @BennyBallbreaker gold bbs rims

  • @BennyBallbreaker Dude Isn't that a Pontiac Firebird

  • @attenchon Nope, that's a late 80's, early 90's Camaro IROC-Z sittin' on BBS wheels.

  • @BennyBallbreaker yes BBS RS ! ...love them BBS shit...best wheels for your ride

  • damn uncle al rip use 2 max and get in our chest with this here peace 2 my main man sugar hill DJ'S PHASE 1 N 2 EEEEEEEEEEYU! ( SOLO'S VERSE)

  • I love this track and I'm a big fan of K-Solo, but he definitely says "B-R-I-D" in this track when he's trying to spell out "bird", haha. I've listened to it hundreds of times over the years and I never even noticed until I read the comments in this thread!

  • DOWNLOAD THIS TRACK FREE AT SHARINGODCOM

  • Damn forgot about k solo He was ill on this song .... Funny though when I first heard this song back then I thought that was big daddy kane doing k solo's spot .

  • "like a b-r-i-d in the s-k-y" haha

  • @THEREALghostlaced "like a b-i-r-d in the sky" listen carefully!!! K Solo knows how to spell!!!! LOL!!!

  • @malefti BUT K -SOLO MISPELLING B-I-R-D MAKES THE SONG MORE MEMORABLE.....I'M GLAD HE MISPELLED IT

  • @jabron2009 IT SOUNDS LIKE HE MISPELT IT--BUT HE DID NOT --JUST LISTEN CAREFULLY. K-SOLO CANNOT MAKE SUCH A BASIC ERROR!!!

  • @jabron2009 U WILL CLEARLY HEAR 4 SYLLABLES...B-R-D ONLY HAS 3. LISTEN CAREFULLY THEN GET BACK @ ME. PEACE!!!

  • How are people gonna change the definition of what a 80s baby is all of a sudden when i was growing up in school they called us that it never applied to music untill jayz said "Im a 80s baby mastered reganomics" but never the less agree 2 disagree

  • Jay Z is one of the last of the 80s babies rapping today.

  • @Bigtruck2007 jay z is not a 80s baby hes a 60s baby if you wasnt born between 1980 -1989 your NOT A 80S BABY!

  • @yungkr Listen to Eric Sermons so called freestyle on (Tim Westwood TV) on Youtube. He referred to himself as a 80s baby. EPMD first album "Strickly Business "came out in '88. JAyZ first was 89. Its not the year you were born. Its the year of your first widespread music. You never heard nobody call themselves a 60s baby in HipHop.( Barley a 70s baby but we know they' re out there.

  • new jack sucka MC chumps are in the danger zone

  • Fuk JIGGA... JIGGA diz nittz..!!! Not hatin... he's not hot..!!! Just some of his beats....

  • em0wuz0x - you made my night. Forgot about K-Solo's inability to spell the word "bird". Eternally grateful. Pepperoni slices!

  • lol "F-L-Y like a B-R-I-D in the sky" K-Solo

  • K Solo fucking killed it

  • K-Solo was a beast on the mic!

  • I remember every Los Angeles gang had a version of this...

  • Solo ripped it at the end! this is vintage Hip-Hop right here!

  • Why did K-Solo misspell bird. This line is crazy funny. He said "I'm from C-I-L-I-F-L-Y like a B-R-I-D in the S-K-Y". What is C-I-L-I? and I didn't know a B-R-I-D flew in the sky. Maybe he meant "I'm from CALI FLY like a BIRD in the SKY". K-Solo should stay away from spelling if he can't do it. Those are simple words. My 7 yr old caught that too.

  • @jfactor007 central islip long island c.i.l.i.f.l.y

  • @jfactor007

    Oh shit.

We got a linguist in the house.lol

  • @jfactor007 Never noticed that until now? Kinda' weird... his whole deal is spelling, yet he spelled "bird" incorrectly? Not a big deal though, cos' he's K-S-O-L-O ;o)

  • @strongties there is no way in hell u can put drake and missy above KRS and/or Rakim

  • @ampcanable drake crushed krs on stage and krs said dat drake was a better rapper and that he learned alot from drake

  • @strongties When did that happen?

  • @Spidersilva97 oh it happened like 2yrs ago thats how drake got his deal freestyle battling krs

  • tupac carlifonia love

  • @Tquiiin EMPD`s sampling came out a few years before California Love

  • @amck72 alright

  • badass jame

  • There is a movement within the hip hop genre and it is going underground because people are sick of corporate music and MC's (Studio gangsta's) The same movement that brought you here. Great hip hop.

Subscribe to my channel if you love underground hip hop or old school

There are also tons of facts about hip hop too!

  • What?! I thought Dre made this beat. I'm beginning to dislike Dre more each day.

  • @darrouken it's a sample of "Woman To Woman" by Joe Cocker & was sampled before EPMD by Ultramagnetic MCs for "Funky". its one of those recycled samples

  • Comment removed

  • @Regset ?

  • @darrouken He replayed this...Another Episode is a replayed sample of David Axelrod.....

  • What!!!!! This was that Shhhhhh!!

  • @KUeWSkateboarding

    thx bruh ;)

  • @KUeWSkateboarding Joe cocker to ultramagnetic mc's to EPMD 2PAC ... classic

  • original from 89, before cali love

  • @GUnitSir This is 1989

  • @DaManzMoney One of my favorite years.

  • I love the way he misspelled bird xP

  • @AngryUrsaring funny didn't realise it.

  • sample is women to women no stop the bitchen and enjoy the song

  • Like a B-R-I-D in the S-K-Y. what more can i say.

  • @SCOOBYNG83 K-Solo corrected his spelling on "I`m Rocking For My Hometown". He repeats that line so he noticed it later on. I used to always make fun of that too back in 89`. K-Solo undeniably still killed it. This was one of the best introductions in rap.

  • @kevhar12

Yeah...Solo and coincidentally Keith Murray (Erick Sermon's "Hostile") had two of the illest intros to rap...

  • @SCOOBYNG83 LOL I caught that too

  • yeah nice

  • Watch a crab in half.........

  • amazing trackrespect from Poland.chlopaki nawijaja jak szaleni

  • The introduction of K-Solo, Sick dude. I love this joint. This jount was Crazy. You don't hear joints like this anymore. Bring Hip Hop Back.

  • Jay you called it! Words can't describe how crazy I went when this song came out. To this day it moves me in ways no other song has ever moved me. It's hard to describe. Dre bites from it for California love. K-Solo kills it! "I heard it on Kiss with Red Alert and Chuck, a rapper said he wit Solo, I said what the F@&k

  • Memories hanging out in my dorm gettin lifted listening to this.

  • In the Immortal words of Rodney King "Cant we all just get along(lol)! Any who I believe this tune ranks up there as an EPMD classic. Remember Parrish went to SCSU. Where my CT people at?

  • K STOLO stole DMX style..!

  • @deuce5king

    You're a damn fool!

  • @h2junkey

    EAT A DICK NIGGA

why u think DMX said on "Where my dogs at"... That nigga ksolo can suck my dick..?

  • @deuce5king

Don't get me confused with your mama's favorite past time!

Why you think Solo said "For those those that don't believe me, they can go to H-E-L-L!"

Even without the spelling style, Mr. Madison would serve Mr. Simmons head on a platter in a lyrical battle,

  • @h2junkey you're obviously young.... you dont know any better... any REAL Hip Hop Fan.. knows the story behind this... What are you like 18-19... LMAO...

    Internet shit talker

  • @deuce5king Shut the hell up, PLEASE!

18-19? K-Solo said it best, "You must be drinking St. Ides!"

Any real hip-hop fan could easily tell that K-Solo is an emcee and DMX is just a rapper. It's just as simple as that.,

  • ksolo spelled bird.. b.r.i.d.....thats funny...but i love this song

  • @thareeldoc LOL i thought I was the only one that noticed B-R-I-D in the s-k-y

  • they got the same flow from GZA had in "Words from a genius"

  • featuring K-Solo

  • HUH REAL ARTISTS JAMMA!

  • not meaning any harm sayin this but this rhyme has a typo in it...can u spot it?????

  • @averybadapple add Stetsasonic to that list.

  • u ever hear gravediggaz? frukwan from stetsasonic is with them its ill shit he goes by the gatekeeper in that group

  • @delltardboy yeah i've heard of the gravediggaz they are produced by wutang clan

  • @sucmylefnut Produced by RZA and Prince Paul

  • @yardmarley Wow! Shit I never knew that. Been listening to this for 20 years...my first rap album.

  • Dre's a producer b4 he was a rapper and how can you say 2 albums? what about NWA's 3 or 4 albums that Dre was on what about Snoop's Doggystlye and all Pac's albums at Deathrow and just all the albums he did your a fool you have no clue

  • Im talking about SOLO albums fool !!!!! I dont care about his produced work !!!

  • @GhostRaider50 And Dre is behind Eminem, Xzibit, Eve , Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent,G-Unit, D-12, Mary J Blige, those are just some I left out last time anbd there's way more

  • i grew up on this sheeeeeet...never got hooked on the clickity clackity west coast...talk 2 words over 16bars...stretchin out weak sentences

  • to all you fools yappin about dogg pound, dre, blah blah blah

this is an '89 track chumps...original dondadas...west coast unfortunately cannot and never has innovated or originated HIPHOP...always new york

LOL...westcoast folk are funny...2nd hand...you got ur skills but they never equate...dont get me started listing about 1000 artists that never got full play and each could tear up the mic in compton, watts, oakland etc and the crowd would be wildin

  • this is 89, proof that solo made the spellbound style way before dmx! dmx wasn't even doing this shit till 94 then made his first album in 98 & he didn't even use that style on it!

  • K Solo was the first to spell it out

  • real hip hop / fuck west coast and down south / they fucked up hip hop

  • EPMD were the first to put funk samples in hiphop. Nuff respect to Dre but he wasn't the pioneer

  • @MrMorningside125 Sorry but ULTRA MAGNETIC DID IT FIRST FUNKY 87 N IM 23, DO UR HIP HOP HISTORY!

  • @onehungblackboy Trust me youngin I know my history. I was listening to hip hop before u started suckin on nipples!

  • @MrMorningside125 DOUBT THAT U PROBABLY GOT JAYZ PAC N BIG AS THE BEST EVA I GOT KRS RAKIM N NAS AS THE BEST!!

  • @onehungblackboy dont be surprised but u come close to my top 3...I have KRS, Rakim and Kane!! then Kool G rap and Nas....i'm from the golden era kid!! Never judge but much respect to ya for those three....I always though Tupac was overrated!

  • @MrMorningside125 pac wasnt overrated but he was simple my generation doesnt read as much as urs did,so pac was easier to understand on the other hand Rakim will lose u if ur vocab is limited!!Jay z now hes waaay overrated!!

  • @onehungblackboy True! K-Solo would rape Jigga mercilessly. KRS-1 would out think him and De La Soul would slaughter him for originality. They're just the first three on the list. BIG, BIG L, Redman of EPMD era, Keith Murray, God don't get me started on Jigga. The Hip Pop Generation don't have a clue. No Disrespect to Jigga but his place is certainly not the greatest rapper alive let alone challenging for the greats. LL Cool J of Wallking with a Panther era.... I'd better stop now.

  • @vdotme xD love your comment.... jigga is a fool... someone who calls himself (je)hova gots to be some kind of pinhead....

  • @vdotme That was a joke right. K-Solo is super wack. DMX endedhis career. You are severly delusional. Jay z is by far the greatest alive. Jay z at his worst would destroyKsolo, de la soul, and ll fool j put together. Thenly sensible shit you said was about KRS one. Krs is the only one who could pose a threat to hova. This nigga said k solo.LMAO! Ksolo is on eof the worst rappers ever right p there with vanilla ice and mc hammer. You need to get your head examined.

  • @vdotme BIG and Krs one is the only to people you named who could fuck with Jay z's catalogue. I could tell you probably never listened to a Jayz album in its entierity. JayZ 1996-2003 kills everything except Krs One 1986-1993. Rakim now that is who is overrated. LL cool j is a bum who was murdered by canibus and ll was also his generations version of drake , a love song making corn ball. Yes I was there back then and unlike you I have a long term memory. You are a bitter old man.

  • @vdotme WORD!

  • @onehungblackboy Really? You funny. Pac was waaay overrated and given a pass on lyricism because he was shot one million times.Pac is the most overrated ever right up there with lil wayne. Rakim was boring and his flows are limited.Jayz is more of a balanced rapper than him and has a waaay better catlogue of classic albums then rakim. Rakim's career lacked stamina. He is not even the best of his time. KRS lasted way longer and had way better albums.

  • @MrMorningside125 I agree, I think Tupac was overrated too. KRS, Rakim, Kane, G Rap, Nas, Biggie, Slick Rick, Ice Cube and Big Pun are all actually than Pac better in my opinion because they're either more complex lyricists or better storytellers and I prefer all of their flows over his. I still bump Pac's shit though cause' he was good. But not the greatest I don't think... Rakim or KRS will always hold that title for me (I can't decide which, I'm split lol) and B.I.G. is my fave to listen to.

  • @MrMorningside125

that's true... i am glad you know your history... now tell me about KDAY...

  • epmd sampled it first from joe cocker in 89

  • ...and dr. dre when he did california love with 2pac

  • YEAH BUT PPL THINK THEY USED IT FIRST

  • nothing's new under the sun. some people still think the roots are the only rap group to use live instruments. i guess no one ever heard of boo-ya tribe or the beastie boys.

  • lol thats funny

  • funny indeed, but very true.

  • @AvEryBadApPLe Boo-Ya-Tribe is the shit!

  • @AngryUrsaring you are so correct.

  • The Dogg Pound did this beat with the song with the same name and Dr Dre and Tupac used this beat for the California Love song

  • The original song was put out by Joe Cocker, it's called "Woman to Woman"

Tha Dogg Pound covered Knick Knack Paddy Whack for the album :In The Begging There Was Rap" a tribute to Raps forfathers.

  • ummm no actually they just made a album this song came out 20 years ago not 50 years ago

  • 610dirtbikr Why would you say that if you have no idea This is EPMD they are a great rap group that alot of us grew up listening to and loved its Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith and they are still around they were making music from 1986-1993 1997-1999

    2006 to present

  • cuz i dnt give a fuk bout u. ill fukin molly wop ur mom n Tbag ur dad fukaa

  • dis is my shit!!!

  • "When I S-P-E, L-L, very W-E, L-L

For those who don't believe me, can go to H-E-L-L"

    K-SOLO KILLED IT!!

  • hell yeah epmd and the hitsquad were the shit back in late 80's/early 90's.

  • @crepe626 OMG.. you posted this what? 10 years later after Kevin killed this track. c'mon son..i can only hope that you b puttin these wack ass new school heads onto the game.. if not.. we aint got no words..

  • this my shit i was 9 at tha tyme

  • u fuckin idiot maybe thats what i meant?

  • had u thought of that, it would've been noticed so i say your a tadumdada.......
