Spectacular !! Jan Akkerman is one under-rated lead guitarist. I used this track as an opener to a show I did on late night FM radio in Boston. The phones lit up everytime. My alternate was McCartney's "Rockestra" which also got a reaction. But, with this Focus track it was lots of aspiring musicians who had never heard it. Music media seldom speaks of Focus today. But "Hocus Pocus" -- that was an astonishingly good track. Lots of respect for Thijs Van Leer. Wonderfully original band.
@pr2840 Yesssssssss Sirrrrrrrrrrr, TOTALLY WITH YOU, my Cassette Recorder and me sitting in the Jungle of South America near the Amazon River listening to FOCUS which means flying to the air and feeling healthiest man on earth.
Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian.
I bought this album in Hull in 1975 - using my bus fare money. I had to walk all 21 miles home as a result. It was worth it, though - I've still got the album.
That guitar solo is completely crazy but brilliant.
@MrHistorian123 Michael Tsarion is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Dr. Bill Deagle, Leo Zagami, Jordan Maxwell and Alexandre Dumas pere are highly informative as well. p.s. Melting Euphoria is similar to Ozric Tentacles and Gong.
@MrHistorian123 these passages are from page #17 of The Companions of Jehu written by Alexandre Dumas pere--"Sir, I have heard speak of the Companions of Jesus," replied the magistrate with his jeering smile. "The Jesuits, you mean? That is not what I am seeking, sir."....Elisha consecrated Jehu King of Israel, on condition that he exterminate the house of Ahab; Elisha was Louis XVIII; Jehu was Cadoudal; the house of Ahab, the Revolution.

Just listen to the music. This IS music and far outdoes the friends-from-school bands who learned as they went. I saw them on this tour in the US with Joe Cocker. They opened I left half way through Cocker.
This is a great song. The keyboard and guitar are very jazzy and I love the section that sounds a bit 'LA-sound-esque' (but is pre that period, I'm sure) which could be associated with bands like Steely Dan - who I also love!
Great track. These guys have been getting some new found attention from young prog fans on youtube. Look at all the views on that Hocus Pocus clip from the Midnight Special,
