Pirates of Dark Water was a cartoon series that about pirates... and dark water... so it was pretty much just "hey let's have a story arc around digital piracy... Oh hey... let's called it the Digital Pirates of Dark Water... lulz"

As for the RDCCDX.... no idea.. :)

He pronounced it, technically, the correct way...if you base it off the japanese word "otaku" hence "o-ta-ka-n". sorry.. I took 4 semesters of japanese in college and I never get to use it enough. T_T.
