  • The soundtrack to this movie is so excellent

  • YOU STUPID ASSES!! You really don't know that this is The Stanley Brothers?? &That the soggy bottom boys were an imaginary group made up for this stupid movie? GOD rest rest your soul Carter,& thanks forthe memories Ralph!!

  • @unclerandy13 Calm down man.

  • What happened to music like this? love it

  • thats why i said he was not a good singer. and i love that movie. but no one knows who plays the songs.

  • @banjotuna actually dan tyminski is the one

  • @banjotuna the group the Soggy Bottom Boys is a real group, they are the ones who wrote man of constant sorrow and others.

  • @MoRockHound no they are not. it was union station. thats the band that recorded it for the movie.

  • Comment removed

  • @MoRockHound -.- Wrong wrong wrong, Ralph and Carter Stanley wrote Man of Constant Sorrow and other songs. Angel Band is an old time hymn.

  • check out the monkees version of this song.

  • i wish o brother where ART thou was never made. ever old time song on thr has became...ohh that song from that movie. geez these songs have been around for forever. and gorge cloonie is not a good singer.

  • @banjotuna It was still a good movie regardless. If anything, the film brought more people to know this music and love it. Who cares if they aren't 100% correct on their history and origins? Plus, I'm pretty sure George Cloonie never actually sang for this film. They dubbed in another voice sounding enough like his.

  • @banjotuna he didn't sing

  • @TheNodferatu i know that

  • I am 16 and I think that music like this is beautiful and that the music today is crap (since these guys actually use their voices with no auto tune)

  • This song was one of my grandpa's favs he passed away a month ago and this was played at his funeral. I think I've listened to this song once a day since. Love you Pa RIP, you taught me a lot and were a great grandfather.

  • Woohooo! Thank God im saved!

  • This song reminds me of my grandfather. He is in the hospital and we are saying our final goodbyes. I felt this was fitting.

  • My grandpa chose this song and I'll Fly Away for his funeral. He and my grandma used to listen to a lot of these old gospel songs when I was a little kid. It was a really good service.

  • @tearpixy That is very coincidental seeing how i am chooseing these two songs also for my funeral. They are indeed amazing songs

  • i just like the movie.... ^-^

  • 4 people are modernized and dont understand the amazing power of a little bluegrass gospel. drop to your knees and thow your hands up to our god!

  • this is a great song..............

  • beautiful, what can anyone say....

  • right on DeerDestroyer2009

  • The best vocals I have ever heard in any song!

  • This song was played at my pawpaws funeral by a group called bluegrass revival I love this song it is so beautiful everytime I hear it I think about him.

  • 4 people are gonna wish they could here an angel band

  • @73IMS that's weird because this was arranged for a quartet (I think)

  • My strongest memories of my papaw involved this song. He played this song all the time. I can't hear it without thinking of him.

  • Even though im an agnostic and do not have much of a belief in a god; i find this song to be quite beautiful.

  • @jakewelty92 no matter what anyone says they believe in God their connection is what is lacking its not about perfect or good or evil its about faith the reason you find this song beautiful is because it tuggs at your heart because you long for a connection with a creator.

  • I noticed that there are 4 dislikes, I wonder how anyone could dislike anything this beautiful and honest.

  • Memories of that little church in the Ozarks.

  • My friends pawpaw died this it what we played it was so sad

  • I want this played at my funeral

  • Beautious! Wonderful! Perfect harmony; lovely voices!! One of the top three songs on the ablum.

  • My grandparents used to sing this and all their other songs....papaw just passed away 2 hours ago, and as I was looking thru the songs, this one popped up RIP papaw

  • @steveshouse71 It's good to grow up with relatives that had a good grasp in music from a different age. My grandmother passed away recently. She wasn't the biggest fan of bluegrass, but she loved the Doobie Brothers, CCR, and a few other bands like that. Every time I hear one of those groups, it reminds me of her.

  • @steveshouse71 I know exactly how you feel I used to sing this when I was little, and my grandpa just passed away on the 9th of this month, just gotta cherish the memories and pray that one day we will meet again

  • I was born and raised in the Clinch Valley mountains of Tazewell County Virginia and have heard this song all my life but still it never fails to bring a tear to my eye. God bless Ralph and Carter Stanley.

  • Well...!

  • 4 peoples' race is nearly run

  • I lost my eldest uncle a few hours ago and all I can do is sit hear and listen to music on youtube. It is comforting somehow even though songs like this one tug hard at the heart. I'll miss you uncle Gene.

  • rest in peace with god carter stanley, we love and appreciate your music. and our grateful that your brother is still with us.

  • amazing song especially when little girl sings =)

  • 100,000 views! LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN!

  • I'm 39 and I approve of this song. That said, Ralph Stanley has worked so hard for bluegrass over the years, and a lifetime of his beautiful works should not be rated that "I am so young and even I listen to this music:" that is so not a comment on the artist or his music, it is a comment on your naive narrowmindedness that we should even care!

  • @RamJamable "I am 39 an approve of this song" ........and we should care????

  • Best soundtrack of any film, ever.

  • I was a christian for 25 years of my early life, i am no longer now. That said, i still understand the power of beautiful music. It represents a very strong emotional state that can illicit feelings of nostalgia, love, and even innocence. This song is incredibly beautiful and emotionally powerful without a doubt, but i understand this is also by design. As Ulysses said in the closing scenes of the movie "yessir the south is gonna change.... a veritable age of reason." We are still waiting.

  • @DarthDrizzt dude I've been atheist all my life and I understand the power of beautiful music!!!! You don't have to believe in god to enjoy great music

  • I swear people just dislike certain songs just for the sake of disliking.

  • beautiful song that will never get old

  • takes me back to when i was a little kid. every saturday mornin my dad would be sitting in his rocker and it was bluegrass all morning long :) good times back then

  • who could possibly dislike this song?!?! im 16 years old! and i love this song!

  • i know it sounds emo but i wish my life was like this song. almost over and looking forward to going to heaven. because i've been through so much, im not going to go into it but for example: lifetime of abuse, and im just sick of the cycle of life. up and down. sick of it. :( i wish i was this old guy singing

  • @Rachulie You have eternal life right now! jesus said he was eternal life and if that is true, and it is, you have eternal life right now, you don't wait for it at a later date, because you have Christ in you who is eternal life.

  • fuck all of you that dont like this song

  • The best song from O Brother, Where Art Thou?

  • R.I.P AUNT LUCY I LOVE U AND MISS U

  • those 3 dislikes shouldn't exisit. you can't have dislike button for this song!

  • @capnstak instead of dislike, it should be dis I like!

    It's cheesey, I know.

  • There should be a "Love It" button for this song

  • I love the music in Oh Brother.

  • i want it played or singed at my funeral

  • me and my mom love this song <3

  • I want this song to be played at my funeral.

  • @deerdestroyer2009 ok, I will.

  • I love this I Try to listen to every time I can.

  • I have always loved this song. My dad and I used to listen to this. He loved bluegrass and passed the love onto me.

  • HOW CAN U NOT LIKE THIS SONG????????

  • we can all forgive the 3 dislikes........

  • @jmac3480 I know atleast 3 people who need prayers! And I mean that in a good, inspirational way! This world has lost its love, and we need to all work to bring it back!

  • Nephews sang and played this on harmonica and guitar at brother's celebration of life service last month. This after baroque trumpet Handel's Messiah "The trumpet shall sound" &"I know my redeemer liveth" and a solo of the hymn "Abide with me." If there was a dry eye amongst the celebrants (including about every living Superior Court judge in Maricopa County) I didn't see it. God is good all the time!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!:)

  • I remember hearing this song in church years ago, don't get no better than this !! Listen close people there's only one way to get there ,see ya on the other side!

  • this song is such a beautiful song!! i love old music!!!!! :)

  • i cry every time i hear this song

  • Something truely horrible has happened to music. We went from this to music made literally of just mindless screams and lyrics of rape, murder, and other disturbing things. I can honestly barely listen to old songs like this without getting depressed just because I was born in the wrong time. I should have been born in about 1940, but I got 1994.

  • @ledzepcanneverbebeat I have often said I was born in the wrong time too, I got 87 and would have been just fine in the 40's. You ever get a time machine come find me.

  • May the Stanley Brothers music ring through the hills forever..........

  • Still have the vhs version of this movie and will wear it out before I get the dvd.The cd is holding up fine.

  • To get this mp3 click to easymp3grab doht cohm.

  • I bought this dvd for my dad and he LOVED the music in the movie (and the movie itself). He went out a couple days later and bought the soundtrack.

  • @mariesadler same here

  • I LOVE THIS SONG BUT BY DOLLY PARTON;]] x

  • This song is great God is love

  • i used to follow the Lord, but i have strayed, yet this song always fills my eyes with salty tears

  • @burnbogan same here

  • songs like this wipe away all of the crap we hear on the radio and pop music

  • @Cavanpiper

    Bluegrass is better than anything.

  • @Thebanjofellah so true!

  • @Cavanpiper On the contrary.

  • this is a beautiful song, i cant wait for the pearly gates

  • this is one of my favorite songs... event though im an atheist

  • Sweet old time!

  • This song touches me deeply... When it comes time for me to go, I'd like to see an Angel band coming to me, I know that they exist, and they watch over all of us...

  • this song is the only one i ever heard my grandma sing...it is brautiful...she had that high..nasal..bluegrass twang...if you like bluegrass you know what i mean

  • good ol timey, aint nothin like it

  • awesome

  • love this old timey music

  • Ralph Stanley and Shelly Wright did this song together it is just beautiful!!!

  • this is one of the best songs ever

  • I love this song but i truly loved it when Mike Nesmith sang it from The Monkees.

  • amazing marvalous spectacular just damn beautiful

  • @wurmovich jesus and christianity may have inspired some silly things, but they also inspired art as beautiful as this, so open your mind a bit

  • seems like they play this song at every funeral i go to. love it.

  • Wonderful!

  • I bought the movie just for these sorts of songs. What amazing music. To all those who have never watched O Brother Where Art Thou, you should, it's almost a monument to old-time and Bluegrass music.

  • Gosh dang best song ever! ever time i hear it i want to grow angel wings and fly around lol but naw great song!

  • This song is so awesome the Lord has brought me to listen and learn the words so I can sing this song at church with freinds and familie the very first time I have herd this song I was just amazed of how great and awesome God is and how the Lord can do for me and others so I enspirer a lot of people to listen to this song cause it is amazing . :) Always a girl that goes to kingston K-14 :) Shannah .G. :)

  • @Shannah2010 i see your a good girl dont change a bit

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song would have been sufficient. Believe it or not, nobody cares if you're an atheist.

  • I was trying to get the piont across that a religous song could be enjoyed, not for what messsage its rtying to convey, but, because it sounds good

  • That's true of any song.

  • I can count the number of times in my life that ive cried on one hand and this made me have to use my other hand

  • I'm glad that this is up here :D

O Brother Where Art Thou is a fantastic film, but this song stands alone...awesome

  • stfu n00b.

  • wow its youtube but it doesn't have to be a video just listen to the song if you don't like looking at it pull up a new tab and google something

  • one of my fav. song

  • oh brother where art thou = great movie.

  • this is so damn beautiful.

  • not Ralph on lead vocal ??

  • i love it when the little girls sing this in the movie

  • u love lil girls?!! U PEDO

  • @munty102 grow up. seriously

  • @Bookmovielover

The little girls didnt sing this song in the movie. It was played over the end credits.

  • @EyrenSunchaser they sang it at the very end of the movie and it carried on into the credits.

  • @EyrenSunchaser its true that they played this version in the end credits, but at the end of the actual film the little girls were singing it in the background while their parents were fussing about that ring x) then the smallest one at the end of the rope saw the guy on that push-cart thing on the rail going off into the distance singing the same song--awesome ending, weird/powerful to have the color fade to black/white too

  • @EyrenSunchaser the little girls DID sing the song in the movie, at the very end. before this version came on. please don't correct someone unless you're correct :p

  • Loves this* in tears!

  • thank you i've been looking for this for awhile

  • just ralph stanley
