Fighting The Gravity is a cool song, I used to skip it, but it "grew on me" like you said, And Travis drum playing is really cool some parts in the song !
I feel like you guys are tom haters. I actually like snake charmer and this is home more than kaleidoscope and mh4182011. AlsoThis guys sounds exactly like jonah hill. I hope you guys have let the songs grow on you, none of the songs are really bad. I skip fighting the gravity, but thats it.
@GiantPinnapple Hey, so actually not a Tom hater at all! I love everything that man does! Hes a legend in my eyes. Yes, at FIRST the songs took some time to grow on me, and now I skip NO songs on the record. I love all the songs.
@gdl30 Yes, my opinions have changed some with this interview. The more i keep listening the more i enjoy the songs I didnt really enjoy so much at first :)
@brandonjones237 haha sorry dude, got the package in the mail right before the show and just couldnt wait. I know shitty, but I got the sweatshirt bundle and my gift was a Neighborhoods tour shirt :) Sorry to have dissapointed ya... :/
Also... EVEN IF SHE FALLS is by far my favourite Blink song at the moment. Looked at my play count for this song earlier! Ehm... Just under 150 plays! Haha :P
Is it just me or can you guys not tell when Tom recorded vocals with Mark and Travis and by himself? If you ask me... The songs where Tom's voice is more whiney and high pitched (classic Tom), you can tell he was with Mark and Travis. As if like the 2 of them wanted his more blink style voice. Example... After Midnight, Wishing Well and This is Home. These 3 songs in particular, Tom sounds more whiney and I read that all 3 of them were present during the recording process for these 3 songs.
I disagree with you about This is Home. It has nice riff going on at the start and it somehow reminds me of Reckless Abandon. To me it's on TOP 5 songs in the album
just a couple of my opinions. ghost on the dance floor to me is close to the same riff as box car racers "there is". i just can't help but feel reminded of that song...surprised this wasn't said. Snake charmer if your fans of Say Anything you might feel that 0:55 to 1:15....i agree i also do love the chorus. love wishing well, kaleidoscope, and even if she falls... love your opinions of it.
Biggest throwback was for me was Natives. Best lyrics of cd, “That girl will try to make you hard” –Tom, “grocery store perfection” -Mark. Travis’s drums seem underrated, they are fucking brilliant, he records with so much energy just as he does when he plays live, and shows his wide view and diverse skills, making his musically intellectual voice very potent, showing why he is one of the greats. I fucking love Fighting the Gravity, it’s a fucking trip and it’s amazing,
don’t skip Blink songs. A word to describe Neighborhood is inspirational. Even with seemingly dark lyrics, underneath they somehow give hope. It’s a fucking musical journey. I think it is a milestone to what is to come from Blink musically but does not undermind what they have done in the past. 5/5. Eat Sleep and Blink.
@blink182sk4t0r Very well said my friend! Its not that I feel the NEED to skip, just that i am MORE of a fan of others. The whole album is simply amazing and yes a musical journey. Captures so many emotions and I love it
I enjoyed hearing some one elses views about this album. No one around me listens to blink like i do. But i love this album, and in my opinion the replayability is perfect. The only thing i really dislike is that it feels like its just one song after another rather than one song leading into another like their self titled album. But as a whole its amazing, and i haven't held a new blink cd in my hands since high school so i was very happy to buy this cd.
I'll be honest and say that on first hearing I wasn't that fussed about Heart's All Gone and didnt listen to it that much but once you hear it on the album it is so fucking good!! The interlude builds up to it extremely well
@moderndaydodo Yea, indeed. Its just so much more polished in the record, and sounds amazing! And yes TOTALLY agree with you on the interlude. AMAZING!
Nice review man! This album is a winner for me definitely. When you spoke about Fighting The Gravity, Ryan, I couldn't agree more with what you said, the exact same thing happened with me :) I must say that if there will be a new album that it will be even more amazing than Neighborhoods!! I don't know about anyone else but I really want the next music video to be After Midnight, I get the feel of the sunset during the chorus and night on the verses :) let me know what you think.
@moderndaydodo Hey thanks a lot! I can actually see exactly what you are talking about! Haha I'm really hoping that is the next video. It makes sense haha
I am so stoked about the love everyone has for this record.. especially wishing well! my gosh what a song right? my top three, g on d floor, wishing well, hearts all gone. my opinion anyway. awesome review guys.
@ThatShowWithThatGuy1 Yeah man! Just like you said about "Even If She Falls" It leaves you wanting more. And I REALLY want more. And btw, Fighting The Gravity was actually my second favorite song off this album. I love Mark's vocals, and Travis's lines. It's just so odd and different. I love it.
great review. worth the wait. only thing i really wished you brought up was that "This Is Home" sounds like a The Cure influenced-type song, which I admire that they stay true to their influences.
natives is young london but all artist repeat riffs in a different style all the time but everyone is just hung up on this Tom and AvA shit. its Tom now. go read the rolling stone interview. they're completely different people. still blink 182 always will be. its just the future. if you really loved blink you would be able to relate this music back to the old blink. also all of the songs are themed to the hiatus. they arent in high school anymore that lasted them a few albums. then mainstream
great review! does it make anyone else uncomfortable that Tom is distancing himself from the band and posting Angels and Airwaves advertisements on Blink's facebook? I wish he would focus wholeheartedly on blink. Do you think Neighborhoods could have been even better if they were always together in the same studio?
@diminno I do believe yes all the kinda weaker sounds would have had a bigger impact to everyone if they were indeed in the same room. About the FB thing yea its a little weird but then again that's Tom haha and a part of who is now. But yes like we said the best songs for the most part on the album was when they were in the same studio.
First of all I love the record. Like Ryan said i am comfortable enough now to know which songs i can skip. I also think the album was kinda destined to be "dark" with everything that has happened since 2008. If blink puts out another album i think it will probably be more stable then this album with some lighter lyrics
@j0e182 haha i was watching the video for the first time, and i've been reading your comments as they've been coming in. by the time you got to this is home, i was like...oh crap, just wait til he gets to fighting the gravity haha
